Advice for Party of 7

So My family of 5 will be traveling with my mom and her SO. My family will be on the dining plan and my mom and her SO will pay OOP. Just wondering how this is going to work...we plan to do all of our dinners together. Can we make all of our dining reservations for 7 or should we do them all separately and just tell them when we get there?? Also when we order to we have them split the bill/tip?

Make them for seven and when it is time to pay the bill, tell them that some of you are on the Dining Plan and some are paying out of pocket. They will ring up two separate checks, since the dining plan people still have to pay a tip, too.

We traveled with family members who were both part of the dining plan and paying out of pocket. The servers are used to dealing with this.

Our waiter allowed DH and I to give our DDP coffee to my sisters who were paying OOP. We also shared our desserts. But I guess some waiters will allow it and some won't. I actually thought that it was great to travel with some people who were OOP, since I didn't want all those desserts, beverages and snack credits.

No, I wouldn't wait until then. Your server will probably ask right after greeting you, but please let them know about (a) the split checks and (b) which check is being paid by what method. Each check will have the mandatory (for parties of six+) service charge added for only that party's total.
