Hello,

Well I am going to have trouble sleeping tonight because some close friends of DW and I ... want to take an adults only WDW trip in January. My friend is a Disney nut same as myself ... and if you saw him you would never guess it ... as he is a rather burly union shoppe foreman. He started the phone conversation with me tonight stating the following:

"There are 3 things you never have to ask me .. you just assume Yes"

1.) Do I want pizza
2.) Intimacy with his wife :rotfl2:
3.) Do you want to go to WDW

So DW and I are GF freaks ... love everything about it.

Side Note she will have stayed at GF 6 times in the last calendar year come mid-november (twice on business) ... so jealous .... oh how DIFFICULT it is to talk to her on her quote-unquote "BUSINESS" trips on the phone as I struggle to give the kids a bath... as she explains to me how she dined at Victoria and Alberts .... but that is okay, I vicariously live through her in these times.

Anyway I digress...

My friend and his wife assumed we want to go to GF...but then I got to thinking... wait a second ... no kids. This is a whole new dynamic.

We will spend most of our time at MGM, Epcot, DTD. So now I would like to ask the awesome people on Disboards their thoughts. Would you go Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk? I thought about AKL ... but the goal would be to minimize transportation and waiting for busses.

I have heard great things about Beaches and Cream (I think the name is) ... heck that alone could have me sleeping in a Beach Club room

I decided against the whole 2 bedroom suite due to the cost (not practical for 4 adults in my opinion) ... so I would like to get rooms that open into each other (adjoining). Would also like a view of the water ... maybe the fireworks as well. Maybe someone here has experience with this type of arrangement in the past :)

Thank you in advance for all you pearls of wisdom.

Have you thought about renting points from a DVC owner? We have done this and it works out great. If you go to the DIS home page, there are links to see the points charts. If you figure out the points, renters generally charge about $10-11 per point. Then you go to the DVC boards and see if anyone is looking to rent points. It takes trust on both sides, but I haven't heard of it not working out. It is a great way for groups to spend time together in a on-property resort. The Boardwalk Villas is a beautiful DVC resort, and it looks like you'd enjoy the location and amenities.
Have an awesome time!

Boardwalk Inn concierge!!!!

Perfect for adults only and one of the nicest places on property.

Hello and thank you for your recommendations. I am going to review them with the our friends ... keep them coming.

I was thinking that since we love to try all types of food from different places that concierge may not be a good fit for us. What do you think?

For four adults - Boardwalk or Yacht Club. You'll love the easy access to Epcot and all the restaurant choices, the nightlife on the Boardwalk is entertaining, and you can see Illuminations fireworks from some of the rooms. We love this resort area. You'll have bus and water taxi transportation and you can easily walk to Epcot and MGM is only a little longer walk...........but we usually take the water taxi 'cause we think it's fun. Whatever you decide - have a magical time!

The YC is awesome!
The roomes are comfortable and are beautifully decorated
Lagoon view rooms give a you a view of the Boardwalk (just be sure to request lagoon not pool view)
A quick walk around the lake to the Boardwalk
Most Lagoon view rooms can see Illuniations
Yachtsman's Steakhouse, Beaches and Cream (can 4 adults finish a Kitchen Sink?) and Cape May Cafe downstairs
5 minute walk to Epcot's International Gateway
Boat or walk to MGM
Walk to Fantasia Miniature Golf

Yes the GF is gorgeous - but given the choice my family always picks the YC because of the location.

Wherever you decide to stay - You're going to have a great grown-ups trip!

Enjoy!

Cheers-
~Luthien

Have you considered the Swan and Dolphin? The restaurants beat Disney's hands down and it is a very adult atmosphere. The BC was a big disappointment to me. SAB closed before we got back in the evening. The service was MUCH better at the Swan. Just a suggestion. You won't find any hidden Mickeys, etc. but I think you would be able to get your fill of the Mouse at the parks, DTD, etc.

We went to City Walk at Universal and had a great time. I felt it was much better than Pleasure Island. For an all adult trip, it might be fun.

Hi,

DW is making a push for the Swan or Dolphin ... at this point I am sold on YC, namely after reading the recent YC thread.

Now breaking up the trip with Universal is a thought ..... hmmmmm. Never been.

I am going to grab a limo for our transportation from the airport as a surprise.

I have this vision of us sipping champagne on our way to WDW. Kind of funny how I always saw myself making these adult type trips to places like West Palm, Key West, etc.... No way No How ... it is WDW ALL THE WAY! :cool1:

Thank you all for you great suggestions ... I am going to make my play for YC ...

I was telling my buddy last night ... "I REALLY want to do the Segway tour"

Now this is a guy who goes to WDW minimum 2xs a year ... and he did not know what the Segway was ... he does not recall seeing them! I showed one online ... he is onboard!
