Hi everyone, my husband and myself are no strangers to Disney cruises, we also have a 7 year old daughter who started cruising at 2years. We usually try to do a cruise or 2 a year but we took a year off with my pregnancy and the zika scare We now have a brand new daughter and in the womb she was booked on her first Disney cruise lol we've cruised with a 2 year old but not a baby I mean there's alot more to it bottles, formula, baby food if she has started at home by then. Also what medicines should we bring just in case she gets sick on board. I've searched the message boards a bit and there's only a few tips. So I'm asking anyone who's cruised with a baby under a year old what are some tips and tricks that could be helpful to me. My parents have also decided to join us on this cruise and they tend to take afternoon naps and plan on taking the baby back to our connected rooms for a nap while we use that time to give our older daughter find time alone with mommy and daddy. Thank you

Definitely a question best answered and discussed with your pediatrician. Each kid and their needs are different.

The only other advice I can give is to try and keep your daughter's schedule as normal as possible. Not only can it make your cruise week miserable but it can throw you off when you get back as well.

We went through WAY more diapers than we usually do. I do not know how it happened, but she ended up flying home in a swim diaper. LOL

As far as meds, are you even able to give a 6 month old anything other than Motrin? Where will you be at with shots? I would talk to your ped about meds and vaxes because no one here should advise on that. :)

Being able to share duties with your parents is a great help. As you know there is lots of toddler time on board, but I was always concerned about the vaccinations needed for such an environment. You have people from all over the US and even the world who may feel differently about vaccines than you do. Not saying you are going to catch something awful, but you are on a floating hotel.

We thought we brought enough diapers, but the routine change really wreaked havoc and had us off the boat at the first port of call to restock. Infants need a lot of care as you know so you should be well aware of the activities and things you should bring. The pack n play should work well if you aren't a cosleeper. Just be sure that you bring all the appropriate food items you think you should need. I can't recall if at 6 months they are ready to start trying out soft foods or not. Also make sure you keep an eye on hydration!

Cruising at 6 months shouldn't be that big of a deal, except you have to carry the kiddo everywhere, they aren't toddling around yet!

Make sure and request a diaper genie. I find the beds on DCL pretty soft, so an infant might be safer in a pack n play.

Just ensure that the kid is AT LEAST six months to the day (not "almost" six months or something - AT LEAST six months) or you will be denied boarding.

We sailed last year when YDS was just shy of 7 months.

I brought an inflatable tub since he was still prone to slumping over when sitting. This turned out to be really handy, more for play than bathing. When dry, we would sit him in it to play.

We had plenty of diapers and didn't find that we went through any more than normal.

I find it handy to have a lightweight stroller and also a baby carrier for times when I don't want to take the stroller.

DH likes to go to bed early so he would stay in the cabin with YDS while I took ODS to the show.

I nursed both of mine, so not sure about bottles. I have found that the paper towels infused with Dawn are handy for travel, so you might try those.

We took some snacks and baby food pouches and found enough at meals to share with him. I didn't really do many purées with him so we didn't carry any of those with us. Our head server did offer that they could purée some food, but I've seen mixed reports about the availability of this in other reports.

Yes!!! We take those whenever we travel. So handy...even for cleaning out our protein shaker bottles or coffee mugs...and of course water bottles.

If you are excursion people, keep in mind that many have minimum age limits, and that most excursions are in open buses, etc. No car seats or similar.
