Advice for Calling Member Services

Good Morning...

I can call this morning to try and book our AKV CL room in October. I know the rooms are really limited, so I'm wondering what is the quickest way to do it. We want 7 nights (3 or 4 of us traveling), prefer a 1 BDR, but we'll take anything that is available. I'm afraid that if I ask for the 1 BDR and it's not available, it'll be too late to get a studio or 2 BDR. Any advice? Should I just give my dates and say we'll take anything open?

Asking what is available on the concierge level for the time you are there is a good approach. There are basically 5 1BR and 5 studio rooms that make up the DVC inventory for AKV-CL, so you have a better chance at getting a 1BR or studio. Be prepared to reserve 3 or 4 days, if available, and wait list the other days if desired. That may leave you with a split stay, but it might be worth it to get a few days of CL. Remember, if you want to do the sunrise safari, you have to be a registered guest on the CL on a Sunday or Thursday. As opposed to Kidani, the CL 1BR and studios only have one bathroom and the 2BR CL only has 2 bathrooms, if that is a consideration.

Also, if CL is not available today, call back daily this week and it may open. If your arrival is 10/7/12, which is a Sunday, they could potentially all be booked up to do the safari, but some may open up on 10/8/12, which is a Monday.

We are staying in a 2BR CL next summer staying Thursday through Sunday night. We are then moving to BLT. We did not want to use all of those points for a full week stay on CL. Plus, we have 7 adults and need to get to a room with 3 bathrooms!

I've called MS and explained how many points I needed to use before they expired and that I was open to staying at any villa even my dates were flexible! They were very helpful looking up all my options and I just chose one. I would just explain what you said here and ask what is available CL for your timeframe. Good luck!

Congratulations.

I've never tried for a Concierge room, but I can remember the same excitement when we booked Christmas a few years ago. And if I remember waaaaaay back, I can remember when you had to get up at the crack of dawn if you wanted to do CRT.

Good for you! We can't wait for our first stay on the concierge level in June. We have recently been in touch with the IPO (itinerary planning office) and have been impressed with their level of service, so far. Have fun planning!
