Another MFL'r made it...this was one who didn't speak up before...so now the total count is 3 from the Mouse for Less group. :woohoo:

I just wanted to send Congrats to all the Round 3 finalists! :cool1:

I know just how you are all feeling. And I was nervous and stressed about the phone interview. I taped index cards to the wall of my bedroom with various info in case I went totally blank. I wore my favorite GF shirt on the day of the interview. I surrounded myself with pictures of our Disney vow renewal and my pictures of my son's first trip to WDW, etc. Just things that represented why Disney is so important to me. My husband and I even "practiced" the interview many times b/c I've always been shy talking over the phone. I had to really overcome this challenge. But the CMs were wonderful and immediately put me at ease. :) When the interview was done, I recall saying to my husband that I was just glad that I had done my best and wouldn't have any regrets.

Best wishes to all of you.

Heeeee! That was me -- I wrote that over on PassPorter boards to try and calm people down who were worrying that maybe they'd actually moved on to Round 2, but not received an email. From what we were told about last year, Disney did contact any of the people moving on who didn't respond to the "you're moving on to Round 2" email. If they didn't hear from them, they called the number in their Disney account profile.
Eileen

Hey Eileen! Thanks for sharing the info!:)

And now, a word to the wise for future plans, go log into your account and see what kind of contact info they even have for you. I just did to see what was there because I can't remember for the life of me when or why I signed up years ago - guess what, all they have is a shortened version of my name and my birthday! I often do not fill anything more than what is "required" of me on webforms because I get enough mail, both real and electronic, so I don't like to encourage more mail. :confused3

Anyway - I am sure if they really wanted to find me they would have been able to by just cross referencing my e-mail with the reservations people, but for what it's worth, check and make sure your contact info is current!! I'm not saying that explains why I did not receive the "consolation" e-mail, but it might be a red flag that "hey this mom's not serious, she won't even tell us where she lives!"....I probably signed up years ago so my kids could play a game or download something, who knows.....but that won't happen again!

From reading the posts, it sounds like they really bring the numbers down before round 3, if those numbers are right, you round 3 folks have about a 50/50 chance! That's AWESOME! Go make Mickey proud! :cheer2:

I just had to respond to this, Sophie! I am right there with you - very bummed. But the good news is, we're still a group of people with a dreamy task - we get to plan our own trips (and in this economy, the fact that we've been in the last 12 months at all is a huge blessing) and we all have children that God has given us to share it all with. Someone posted something earlier here about Laura "living her dream", but I think for most of us, if we were to be honest, we already are, "living our dream." Just how I'm looking at it to make myself feel better. Hope it helps somebody! It helps me just to write it.:flower3:

Jen

Thank you so much Jen for your kind words...it really shows how wonderful this board is, full of optimistic, supportive and lovable people. What a great group!!! :grouphug: I just felt I had to be honest with my feelings and accept them in order to embrace them and keep moving on

Im feeling so much better today and very curious to know who else made it and to read the comments on the interviews next week popcorn:: (my special tribute to our dear Bret hahaha!)

I wish the BEST BEST BEST OF LUCKS to the 3rd rounders...any of you deserve so much to be part of that amazing team!!:rainbow: Tons of pixie dust to all of you, go make us proud!! pixiedust:

I'm thrilled to see how many DISers have proceeded to Round 3. Certainly wish that I were among them, of course. But if it can't be me on the panel, well, I can't think of any better proxies :)

Congratulations to all!

Additionally, it looks like Kim's son (Nicolas) is featured in a face-painting "how-to" video posted on wdwnews.com

Just in time for Halloween: Face Painting Tips from a Disney Parks Expert

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- A glitter-dusted tiara for a dainty princess…a bandana, eye patch and a scruffy beard for a pirate...whimsical wings for a fairy...brightly colored stripes and wispy whiskers for a not-so-ferocious tiger.

Instead of buying additional costume accessories to create these looks, why not try painting them on? Face painting is popular with guests of all ages at Walt Disney World, and it’s a great – and safe – way to enhance any costume. Not only can the looks be more customized to the child’s personality, the child’s range of vision is not affected as it could be in a store-bought mask.

Here are some timely tips for applying face makeup from Rebecca Downin, one of the face painting artists in Mickey’s Toontown Fair in the Magic Kingdom:

* Always use a water-based theatrical makeup, one that is hypo-allergenic and non-toxic.
* Begin the design by using a soft, round sponge to apply the larger areas of color on the child’s face.
* Then, use thin brushes (smaller brushes from local craft stores will do nicely) to paint on details and lines.
* Once done with the design, use baby wipes and moist cotton swabs to clean up the edges. Then, make any needed corrections.
* For an extra-special, finishing touch, use the detail end of a small brush to apply a dab or two of non-metallic, round-cut glitter.

I just recieved my "Thanks but no thanks" email

:sad1: passed over by Disney here.....

Oh my gosh, I really hate to think of anyone who is not a finalist feeling sad. I think ANYONE who took the time and had the courage to submit an entry in the first place is an amazing person. When you meet someone new to Disney, and think of how overwhelmed they all seem at the daunting prospect of planning a Disney trip, you can all commend yourselves for having the ability to not only navigate a happy and successful trip to The World, but for being able to share your wealth of knowledge with others.

I feel confident that everyone who submitted an application to this process provided outstanding answers to the essay questions - but maybe the judges were looking for a blonde that day ;-)

And with SO SO many of you making it to round 2 - well, I think that says a lot right there. There were obviously so many excellent applicants to choose from, it may have just come down to one word or one phrase that just resounded with a particular judge.

You guys all TOTALLY ROCK!!!

First and foremost, I am totally happy for the round 3ers. I,however, like others, do admit to sadness that I did not make it to round 3 too. But the words of support similar to above on this thread are so great and on point.

I was blown away when I opened my email saying I went to round 2. As my husband pointed out, do you realize how many people applied and that you made it that far!

What has been so cool about this waiting room and so many other Disneyphile sites is that you are not the only one out there who loves Disney so much! I have been the go to person in my area for Disney, but I have also gotten those looks from some people like "Oh, she is one of those Disney freaks!"
It was also a great learning experience for my kids. When I told them I did not go to the next round, they were a bit confused and wondered why not. They have to learn too that we do not always move on to the next round in life.

For me, I still love Disney. I am so looking forward to those great, talented people who will be our new panelists. (And the Mickey goes to...) I have been blessed to go to Disney a lot, and I plan to keep going. What binds us all is that optimism of Disney that, I think, should be present a lot more outsi de of the parks!

So, best of luck to the next rounders, do us proud by spreading that Disney love!

Vicky

Hi, I'm new here, just hot-footed it over from the passporter boards.

Caldercup recommended I join you, to say I too have been chosen as a finalist in round 3 of the Moms Panel. :yay:

Good luck to all of you.

Welcome to our waiting room mmouncey (Louisiana) and Suey12 (according to Passporter-yes, I'm a lurker over there - you are from England). I'm sure Jennifer will be along soon to add your names to our official list!

So, how are my fellow 3rd rounders holding up? This certainly is going to be a big week for us! Does everyone have their interview set up? I am very excited and nervous at the same time...just trying to remember to breathe!

I'm feeling the same as you Diane...incredibly excited, nervous, anxious, hopeful...I think that about covers it. :) I have my interview set up...it's just a waiting and dreaming game now. :)

Welcome to our new members :) It's going to be an exciting few weeks. :) :wizard: Pixie Dust to all :)

Me too please...I applied for the Mom's Panel and was invited to the Mom's Club but still can't get in. Customer Service and I have been trading e-mails for a week now.

Thanks a bunch! I'll PM you as well

Were you invited from this year's application? I applied and never got an invite if it is this year your speaking of...

Hi everyone!

Looks like the thread is quiet this weekend. I had my 20th High School reunion last night and a pre reunion on Friday! What a blast. Everyone looked really great and it was so nice to catch up with my old friends. I found it to be very wierd that it was like no time had passed...we could just pick up right where we left off.

I think my husband had as much fun as I did, he was asking everyone what I was like. The verdict was that I hadn't changed at all. Whew!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! :)

Nicole
