I just realized we received an email from Disney (w/Moms Panel Logo) wishing us a Happy Mother's Day. Very nice! :thumbsup2

- Bret

p.s. I scored 999,999 (doesn't go higher) on Buzz last night:banana: :cool1:

Bret,

Sounds like you guys are having fun. What's the weather like? It's hoootttt in Houston so the water parks sound great about now. Oh well, if nothing else the heat is preparing me for The Challenge in Sept. Hope you continue to have fun.

Julie,

It was hot. I spent Friday at the waterparks (I did both), and it was perfect weather. Saturday and Sunday felt a little hot in the parks.

By the way, good news on the EE Challenge front...Leanne has signed up to run along with us. We are all very excited that she'll be joining us. :thumbsup2 Most of the Moms are participating in the run, but I'm sure the participant list will change a little as we get closer to the date.

I was fortunate enough to ride TSM a few times last Friday, and countless times on Sunday. I figure I should share some learnings...

During this soft-opening time (official opening is May 31):
- As of Sunday (this will likely change as the month progresses) "they" were still running to ToT and RnRC at rope drop
- FP machines exist, but they weren't functioning. My guess is that they won't start until May 31
- CMs won't tell you that the ride is open, and the map hasn't been updated
- The wait time was under 20 minutes at 2:00 (because no one knows it is in soft-openings, and it is in a remote section of the park)

Single-rider line:
- There is a single-rider line. It never had a wait when I was there.
- If you enter the single-rider line from outside, you will skip seeing Mr Potato Head. Another option is to go in the stand-by line, walk through the queue area where Mr. Potato Head is, and continue to the area where you get the 3-D glasses. The queue area opens up here, and you can enter the single-rider at this point (it will be obvious to you when you are there - ask the CM if you are confused) and still save a decent amount of wait time. I wouldn't do this if there is more than a 30-40 minute wait, but when there was a 20 minute wait time posted, it only took me about 5 minutes to get through to the area to watch Mr. Potato Head a little and get to where they have 3-D glasses (this was my longest wait).

Game scoring tips (spoilers alert):

I only got to 200,000 points (highest score was around 290,000), so I'm sure others have better tips. I'll just share what I remember and figured out...

Highest value targets are worth 5,000 points. I think the target values are 50, 100, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000

If you have been on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold" at DisneyQuest you will immediately recognize the game shooting technology. It clearly is the same technology, except you are in a moving car, and the things that shoot out of your "cannon" change each screen.

Each screen has several "Easter eggs" which make new and higher value target appear if you hit them. I don't know all of them, for sure!

- First screen (just practice) is the only truly interactive part of the ride. If you try to throw pies at their faces they will start to protect their faces more. It is subtle but pretty cool. I know this because I talked with some of the imagineers that made the ride.

- Second screen (can't recall what you are throwing - I think they are eggs. It is a farm theme): In the upper corners there are several targets in a tree (I think) that are worth 1,000/2,000 points each. Also if you are doing well, then the barn will open up, and have more targets that are high value (I don't know what triggers this, but it happened several times).

- Third screen: You throw darts at balloons. In one of the upper corners there is a cloud with approx. 6 balloons. If you break all of the 6 balloons, then many many many balloons start falling and they are worth either 1,000 or 2,000 each (I don't know what triggers them to be worth 2,000 - but as I got better, they were more frequently worth 2,000).

- Fourth screen: Breaking dishes with baseballs. This is just too much fun!! Just shoot for the 1,000 point plates that are moving on the tracks below, and the 2,000 point plates flying at the top of the screen, hanging below the helicopters.

- Fifth screen: Ring toss game. I found this to be hard to do perfectly - especially hard to get the nearby targets. There are rockets that appear on the upper right and left that are worth 2,000 points each. If you get them, then some 5,000 point targets appear in the even farther upper left and right sections of the screens.

- Sixth screen: Shoot suction cup darts at targets. Each target you hit releases many more targets that have higher values. Just shoot fast. Can't think of any Easter eggs that I found here.

- Seventh "screen": Continuation of the fifth, but your vehicle is moving while you are shooting. Many 2,000 point targets appear, but they don't stay long

- Eighth screen: Mine trains with targets with points on them. Shoot fast, and make sure to hit the few targets that are above the mine trains. They start at 1,000, and go up to 5,000. If you are doing well all of the targets reach a 5,000 value by the end

-Ninth "screen" (last): You don't move, but a big target with a big number on it appears in front of you. You get the points shown every time you hit the number. This looks and behaves like the answer board on Family Feud (it flips each time you hit it). Huge advantage if you can shoot fast. If you go fast, the last few ones will be worth 5,000 each. This part KILLS your arm!!! It is hard and tiring "work"!

-Tenth screen: This part just shows you your score. If you pull the trigger here, confetti will come out of your gun. Very cute.

There is a fairly good video of the ride on youtube, if you want more detail... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_ZCrf6m9OU

Hope that helps (and gets you excited for this great new attraction!!).

Of course, I'm going to have to print that out because come September, I'll need to know these tips! :thumbsup2

We will be down there 9/20-9/27, same time as the EEC, only we'll be at Epcot. Maybe we will bump into each somewhere along the way! You'll have to post the details closer to the time!

I wish we could do the EEC, but if I remember right, maybe it was a little cost-prohibitive for us...not sure though--can't remember right now why we're not doing it...

We'll be hanging out in Epcot also (actually we'll be all over we are staying at AKL). There's no way we would miss the F&WF. DH and I will be the ones downing water hours before the race!!!(I'm afraid there will be a need to replenish fluids after enjoying the F&WF):thumbsup2 My MIL is going and has agreed to watch the kidos while we are participating in EEC.
I must say that it is much more difficult to run in the heat. If you MOMS and Bret have not trained in the heat I would do it before I go. It was 95 here today and at 10am I did my run. I thought I would die:eek: I must admit that pushing a jogging stroller with a 26lb child didn't make things any easier. We can only hope that once it gets dark things will cool off for the race. Keep up the good work and I'll see you guys in Sept.

We have the 26th scheduled for Epcot w/dinner ressies at Askershus (sp?), and we may hit a Park on the 27th before heading back to Georgia.

Would be nice if there was a way we could identify each other.

Maybe we should get someone on the Creative boards to make Mickey Moms club t-shirts that we could wear on the 26th....

Hmmm.....

Thanks RatBoy for the review! I went on it 4.5 times on AP weekend and loved it. Only one thing to add -- look at your score at the very end (or take a picture of it) and you'll see what "prize" you won. It will have a picture of an animal.

Also there are at least 4 HM on the ride -- we found 3 of them when the ride broke down and we had to walk out of it. I posted on the DIS HM thread the location of the 3 HMs...don't want to spoil it for everyone on here...:goodvibes

Hey, Dcanoli:

Did you ever track down your pilfered "Mickey Moms Club" magnet? Was it actually stolen or simply nabbed as a joke? (I'm hoping it was the second...)

Hey, Dcanoli:

Did you ever track down your pilfered "Mickey Moms Club" magnet? Was it actually stolen or simply nabbed as a joke? (I'm hoping it was the second...)

Well...here's the story!

It was there in the morning when I got to school (I teach), and then, when I left of course I didn't look to see if it was there (DUH). So..I went about my merry way to Sam's to buy groceries, and when I was loading the groceries and shut my tailgate (I have an Element), I saw two RINGS where the magnets were!

I was appalled, but I was so sure that one of the teachers I work with took them as a joke that to my (later) disappointment, I didn't look around me (i.e., on the ground, on other cars, etc.) at the time to see if some "jokester" (to put it nicely) removed them from my car and put them on someone else's car!

Sadly, no one has ever put the magnets back on my car, so I guess the other teachers were telling me the truth when they said they didn't take the magnets.

I just don't get it, and now, I look every time I go by the back of my car JUST IN CASE someone did put them back!

The other magnet they stole was my school's magnet, so why in the world would a thief want that? Are there actually people out there that steal magnets off other people's cars? I mean--what do they do with them? Make a collection? Cut them? I mean, the whole thing is just ridiculous if you ask me.

So, no--sadly--my Mickey Moms magnet has not reappeared....maybe one day it will, but for right now...my little Element is still naked. :sad1:

...and, to boot...I thought that IF THEY WERE put on someone else's car for a joke, they would notice the name of the school and return the two magnets to my school, and all would end well....

I even called Sam's, and I'm sure they thought I was nuts...asking if anyone had turned in some lost car magnets!!!

So sorry!

Scan your mousepad.....then print the image using magnetic paper...voila! New magnet!

That really is strange that someone would take your magnets. Perhaps it was a cleptomaniac Disney geek?!

I like the idea to make your own. Good thinking.:thumbsup2

Thanks! After having someone "remove" my DVC magnet, there was no way I would chance losing my Mom's Club magnet! I have an xtra in my van at all times...just in case!

See...now, that is just weird. Who in the world would steal a DVC magnet?

I think there are people that collect these things (or they are just flat-out MEAN)!

OK, I finally uploaded a few photos. I doubt I'll have time for a trip report, but hopefully these pictures paint a 1,000 words...

Photo at the MP&PP. The gal on the left is from Univision (part of the press invited to the event), and happens to be a member of the Mickey Moms Club! Her whole family "gets" Disney! Definitely the biggest fan of the press group...

Not quite my high score (I am "Player 2"), but close (note the "prize" I "won")...

Just for fun (don't we all miss Stacy??!!)...

Lastly, I couldn't forget a new (for me) Hidden Mickey that I found in the Living Seas ;-)...

Unfortunately I was too focused on the TSM ride and my score to notice the HMs on the ride. But that's the joy of WDW -- you can always go back to enjoy more of the details!!!
