Adventurers Club

The guy who originally did "yeah toast" was Heywood Banks, and he is an outstanding comic. If you ever get a chance to see him, do it. He's too funny.

My wife and I have gone to AC quite a few times in the last 10 years and have seen quite a few cast changes. One year we went to see the HDD and the character of Six Bits was the Boy Scout Troup leader from Sandusky, Ohio in the Adventurer of the Year contest in the Library the next year. I guess I thought of it as any company where someone does a job for a while and then it gets stale so they look for a new challenge. We've always had our favorites of the characters, but they've all been good.

I have been a fan of AC for many many many years also... My favorite from the old days was "Dusty" the maid... she was fabulous!! When she left disney I hear she moved onto CA to pursue her career.. I always wished I could have known more so i could follow it.. I hope she has found some success as she was very talented.. if any of you Old fans know anything.. let me know!

Hey Wendy,

I need to qualify that. When you come into the club you will here 1930's music coming from an old time radio. The play, Mutual Admiration Society, Ding Dong Daddy, Yeah Toast, Whiskey in the Well, Masochism Tango and a bunch of others.

Some of the songs have actually been performed by the cast in the past. But mainly this CD is the ambiance music from the club.

It is Terrific!! And I wanted to thank the fellow who made it and gave it to us!

If you're really interested, PM me... you never know! :wave2:

Well that just stinks. We've been AC fans for a couple of years now and are staying at SSR in October hoping that we can take advantage of the proximity to get over to the AC more often than once or twice a trip. I'm sure the new kids are just "feeling out" the characters and will get better with time, but the old crew was perfect! I always wondered why, if they'd made it into such a great niche, AC performers would ever leave (unless, of course, to pursue Broadway).

I have never been to the Adventurers Club, but I am intrigued. I will have a Spanish speaking friend with me in Disney World who does not speak that much English. She can carry on some basic conversation in English, but I would never bring her to the Comedy Club, for example, because it's so language based. Do you think she would like the Adventurers Club? Is it visually entertaining or mostly language based?

Thanks in advance.

We plan to visit there for the first time in December. Now that the kids are 16 and 17 and we have two friends visiting from OK, we feel like this is the time to branch out and try new things. Quite a few folk have recommended AC.

a little something for everyone missing it! ;)

oooooh, very nice. Thank you!

I deffinately think someone with only limited language skillls would still love the club. You might prompt them to be on the lookout though. In the past the cast would gravitate to someone who stood out from the crowd to have fun with them. So your friend might be a target.

But there is absolutely plenty to see and observe without having a complete command of the language!

Sooo, I think I'll have a beer!
Laaa, la, la, la, la, la, laaaa

Graham was my favorite Hathaway and Carl is just good all around!! He plays a great Southern Otis and plays a wonderful Emil Bleehal! I've seen him over at Comedy Warehouse also.

I miss seeing Graham slide down that ladder during the Balderdash cup, mmmmmmm, mm, mm, mmmm, mmmm, Toasty : :earseek: .

I've also seen the shorter blondish guy that plays Emil sometimes as Barney over at Universal during the day.

I havn't been to the AC since April, and there were many new cast, but Carl was still there playing Southern Otis and heavily berated us for leaving before the Hoopla!!! (Hoopla!!!), but we were beat.

No matter who is playing who, you have to see past that and enjoy the characters. Play along. Talk to Emil, ask him how Sandusky is. Talk to Otis. He has many fascinating stories. Flirt with Hathaway or Pamelia. It is hilarious to watch their improving.

There has only been one time in my 7 years going to Adventurer's Club that I've left after the first show because the cast just didn't have it.

I'll be back in October with bells on!

Kungaloosh!!!

Carol

I went to the AC for the first time last year (with some FL residents who had been lots of times). I thought they were nuts for bringing us in this place...until I learned the words to the Beer Song and my seat at the bar dropped a foot!!!! Can't wait to return again this year! Thanks for this thread...it's great.

Hey,

I can't think of anything I wouldn't do for Tinkerbell.... or fellow Adventurer's Club Member.

Marching along we're Adventurers
Singing the song of Adventurers!! :groom:

We've never been to AC, but I'm convincing my soon-to-be DH to go during our honeymoon. Is there a certain area we should sit when we go in to make sure we see most of the stuff going on? It sounds like something we'd love and I just want to make sure we catch the most we can. Gotta make sure he wants to go back in the future!!

Congratulations Wigit,

My wife and I spent our Honeymoon at Disney World 15 years ago this Fall. We've been AC fans all of that time.

I'm trusting others who have posted here in the last few days, but I will have some faith that the new cast has made progress on learning their parts.

Having said that, the answer to your question depends on how much involvement you want. If you want to see the action, but not be in the middle of it, sit upstairs where you can look down on all the goings on. If you like to participate, and don't mind people poking fun at you from time to time, go down into the main salon under the "Casting Greek" form. Many times it isn't immediate... But give it a few minutes and you'll find the room heating up, until they invite you into the Library for the show.

It's also important to add, every show is different from the previous one. So the Library show at 8:00 is different from the one at 9:00 and so forth. :earboy2:

And lastly, if you just want to drink quietly, maybe make out a little (as newlyweds), head into the mask room. They do have "mini" shows in here. But in between them (30 minutes or more at a time) this is a very quiet place where you can carry on a conversation and enjoy each other's company.

I wouldn't suggest making out in the mask room unless you're into exhibitionism, there is at least one hidden camera in there.

They have a character in the AC that is "from" Sandusky Ohio?

That's where we are from! I imagine that this could make for some interestig interaction with the character, being able to talk about America's North Coast.

We have never been to the AC. Might just have to check it out!

Obviously an AC fan here, and I too, miss some of the recent cast departures but I remind myself that three of them came on during my ten years of attending the club and everyone is new at some point. I lost my favorite Samantha at the club due to her pregnancy but she subs now and again as Pamelia and I feel fortunate when I get to see her perform. Many of the departing CMs still sub now and again as well.

For those looking to see these four CMs who have recently been relocated you can find two doing Streetmosphere at MGM (Yvette and Sugar), one at the Hoop Dee Doo (Sunny) and my favorite Hathaway is now a part of Cinderellabration.

Kungaloosh all!

Thanks so much for posting this thread!!

I know I will love the AC and can't wait to spend an evening there on our first WDW trip. :Pinkbounc

After seeing this thread and checking out the sites posted by others, I am so excited to checkout the Adventurer's Club!

Just a few questions to make sure we don't miss anything,

1) what is the best time to go so that we do not miss the new members induction? Does it happen several times each evening or is it a once a night happening?

2) according to the bar menu the Kungaloosh is the drink of new members, do we have to get that beverage? Does it have to be in the monkey head or Yakoose cup?

3) Does the "show" proceed from main salon to mask room to library? Are we free to wander around those rooms or are we guided to them as the show proceeds?

Any other tips or hints to best enjoy the AC and get the most out of our visit? Yes I am an overplanner, and just want to make sure that I have things covered. Plus I will have a better time if I know somewhat of what is expected from us.
