Hi Everyone,

Just returned from a great time. My boyfriend and I were SO excited to go to the Adventurer's Club. We went last Tuesday, Dec 6th for my bfriend's bday.

We were really disappointed. Maybe it was built up too much? We went to the main room downstairs, got a Kungaloosh drink, heard the opening spiel. Then, we went to the library. There was some adventurer's award they were fighting over. One of the adventurer's had trainied pigeons or something.

Well, after that room, my boyfriend and I looked at each other and took off. I don't know if we just missed the humor or what? There seemed to be many regulars there too........what do they keep coming back for?

Can someone fill me in?

I think it helps if you go around 11pm and have 3 or 4 of those Kungaloosh drinks. ;)

Yup, the drinks help. It's also more than what you saw -- there are many shows going on a night and they are all different. When I first went I thought the same as you, but as the night went on it got more and more fun. People keep going back since a lot of it is improvised too. I think it's one of those things you either don't get it/ don't like it or really love.

I think it also depends on the crowd, Ive been on Very good nights and on dull nights I think alot has to do with audience participation.

My Hubby I were there for the first time back in October and we had a great time. We came sort of late in the night and jumped in a 'show/speil' half way through it. We both LOVED it and agreed that the kind of humor they display is the kind that 'either you get it or you don't'.

Just call us plain wierd, but my DH and I love Adventures Club...and we NEVER have seen the "show". I know it goes on, but we were always more than happy going up and down on our barstools...ahhh those days before DS!!! I love the decor and the atmosphere, you still get a bit of a laugh from the characters without going off into the library. DH & I are closet barflies I think, but we're picky we like nicely decorated bars to prop up!!!! Love Mizners at GF, Victoria Falls at AK & Territory at Wilderness Lodge...we're maybe more lounge flies than bar!!!!!

SO and I have never seen "the show" either.. we have fun just interacting with the cast and downing our drinks. They do make them pretty strong there!

You caught the early part of the show. It is usually tamer early in the evening so the kids who are there aren't exposed to some of the bawdier humor. Once the parents realize that this isn't a children's show, things usually heat up.

It also helps if you enjoy twisted humor as well.

Definitely more fun later in the evening. I'm not sure if it's more fun because you've had a few or if it's more fun because they do get much bawdier. Never anything truly tasteless or out of line (it's still Disney), but enough for your own (naughty) mind to take over and make it as funny as it's meant to be.

Have never had a bad time at the Adventurer's Club...Probably depends on you own sense of humor, personal tastes, etc. And the alcohol definately makes things funnier.

My girlfriend and I walked into the theater part thinking we were just gonna see a show... WRONG! We were so nervous that we would get called out... It was fun though! Be warned.. You might just be part of the show.

The most fun time we had at Adventure Club was when our company rented out the place for 3 hours after a week-long convention and let the staff unwind there.

Basically, our event coordinator got details of every staff member, passed the info to the CMs, and the CMs abused everyone all night.

Since we are from Iowa, they made fun of corn, hogs, Hawkeye etc all evening. They learned a lot of our names from the descriptions the coordinator passed onto them.

Very entertaining :)

As Satchmo Armstrong said of Jazz, "If you have to ask, you'll never get it". No offense, I don't 'get' Jazz, but I do get the AC. Kungaloosh!

For a second I thought Nala had missed this thread!! But of course not!! :wave2: :goodvibes

I know I'm just saying what everyone else has said, but ya just get it or you don't. My DH LOVES/borderline obsesses over AC. I honestly think he agreed to going next month cuz he wants a new cup (they have special ones every month0. He will beat himself up at least twice while we are there, because he didn't get "the cup" on our first trip. He is sooo proud of his coconut monkey. He even turned our basement bar into an AC-like area. I should take some pics.

Of course I'm nuttier than that. There's a sign in the library by one of the ladders that says "librarians only." Well I'm a librarian so I asked if I could go on up. They didn't think I was funny :guilty:

:drinking1 Kungaloosh!!

The Adventurers Club really doesn't have a show, but is an "interactive experience." It helps to spend several hours there since they do play off of the guests a lot. It's kind of like going into Spaceship Earth and expecting a roller coaster ride.
