Adventurers Club update

I understand about the final night thing. I REALLY want to go over, but I don't want to feel squished like a bug all night. Plus, we heard that the regular cast won't even be performing that night.

I *don't* believe this is true. I know at least Sugar Snap is the maid that night.

We're really talking this over. I think our thought now is to squeeze in two more nights beforehand, and then do FWF during the day on the 27th, close out Epcot minus the fireworks, and head over to PI at 9pm.

We did have a fantastic club experience a couple weekends ago, and I *am* happy to have that be our last great one.

If Jesus, Elvis and Walt Disney were going to show up and perform the Balderdash Cup show I wouldn't wait around there for 12 hours.

Thank you...now I'll go through the rest of the day with the mental image of Elvis slamming the bookcase door on Walt, only to have Jesus open it up again... :lmao:

Personally I'd say "Lancelot" would be the perfect Elvis...

One has to assume that Final Night is going to be pure chaos at every club on PI. I've not heard that they're extending operating hours...opening early or remaining open later. That would be a great idea if they did.

It wasn't announced, nor even planned as far as I know, but the night the Beach Club closed, it was pushing 3:00 a.m. before they even tried kicking everyone out. The Beach Club--where many nights staff outnumbered guests! Given the AC's rabid following, assuming it actually opens that night (still have my doubts), they might still be asking guests to leave come Monday morning. ;)

Well now I have visions of Lancelot in a fringed, sequined jumpsuit in my head. Very disturbing! :scared1:

If Lancelot is Elvis, then I'd like to see Snoopy and Blondie as Jesus and Walt. Almost all of my favorite moments at the Club have involved the three of them performing together. :goodvibes

Well an ugly rumor is now starting to circulate on other groups that they might charge higher admission for entry to PI on the final night.

I don't see how they could pull that off at this juncture.....there are way too many tickets sold to people planning to come; there are way too many AP's that are valid EVERY night except New Year's Eve.

Interesting observation. When you first log onto Disboads there is a list of announcements at the top and one of them is called Pleasure Island Closing. If you click on it and scroll down there is a special event called DANCE THE FRIGHT AWAY planned for PI on October 30, 31 and November 1, 2008. Do you think that is just something that was planned before the closure that now gets axed or do you think that is a special event that is going to lead to one or more clubs reopening that weekend?

I'm so sad that AC is closing.. I got engaged at the beginning of june at disney ( where else? ) and we went to AC to celebrate. While we were there we decided that we HAD to have AC as our reception site for our disney wedding... I called disney weddings a few weeks later and told them what I wanted to do - and they were totally on board... UNTIL the next day ( literally ) when it was announced of the fate of AC. I called my fiancee crying hysterically.. and immediatly booked a trip down for one last time. I'm coming down 9/15 and will be there every night until my flight leaves on friday morning.. so if any of y'all are going to be there - feel free to say hi! I'll be the sad blonde with the engagement ring - LOL.

Kungaloosh my friends.

My son, nephew and I will be flying in on the 15th of September as well. We'll definately have to hit the AC one last time. I'll always remember the first time I went. I had no clue what the AC was about. I was following a Butler around the bar and he stops and says "excuuuuse me sir, but are you following me?" I said NO...he retorted "well good!". Then this 30's-40's Aviator walks up to me with a HUGE Martini glass and says "Ladies really love my LARGE....(long pause) drinking glass!" I'm thinking....what have I walked into. Then they called a meeting in the trophy room and this beautiful French Maid starts talking to a ghost in the cabinent. I didn't know the characters names then.....but that night has remained in my minds eye forever. It's probably the most original attraction in WDW and I'm sure Walt would be displeased it is being closed. pirate:

So far I have made 4 final visits to AC. LOL The first three were with my dd's ages 7 and 4 and one was with some friends. Now that they have the special cups we have a visit planned this Monday and the last Sunday they are open.

I was at the club last night and they had removed all of the tables in the library and replaced with rows of chairs to squeeze more people in. Crowd was pretty big and it was a bit of a rush to get into the shows. There was almost a fight last night because on guy had pushed his way through and someone's wife got pushed.

Early in the evening they said if they sold a certain number of drinks and ran out of the regular cups (200) they would break out the Yakoose mugs but they never did. I was a bit annoyed because I have the canteen and really wanted the mug but no luck...

Stange, thing the maid for the early show must have left and the girl playing Samantha changed costumes and roles after the Radio show. They changed Samantha's Cabaret to the Maid's Cabaret and it was pretty funny because she would forget who she was playing but it made for some funny jokes.

We decided to not go tonight because I really can't stand the crowds as bad as they were last night.

Hope everyone gets to go one last time before the closing.

We booked a trip specifically for the last weekend of the AC. Now I'm concerned that it won't be the same way as we've always remembered it :sad2: We arrive next thursday morning (the 25th) and are there through Monday evening... Hopefully thursday we'll be a little less crowded... although I guess I'm one of those crazy people that would be willing to stand in line for hours before the club opens...

We started out at AC. Didn't go into the library but another regular had said Friday night the library tables were not there. And stated the chairs are fastened to the floor.
Bought our second AC cup right away. Hoping to get a yakoose one next.
At CW the shows are packed, and guessing not all guests waiting can get into the show. (Have to wait until the next.) But cannot confirm that.
Last night we saw the handicapped guests even not being allowed to enter through the lower (usually exit) doors, and security was down there. Never have seen that before and don't know if it was just by fluke.
Yes, the next PI weekends will be crazy folks!

Wasn't there, but apparently they did break out the Yakoose cups eventually, because there was one waiting for me when I got back from my cruise this morning. Should still be available tonight.

Did anyone see the new "tv" screen apparently in the Main Salon? Will see it if it is up tonight, but was hoping to get people's impressions of it.

I think you'll be ok on Thursday if you go early. But it's going to get CRAZY! I'm predicting chaos on that Saturday night as there are too many ticket holders coming for Final Night but not enough places to put everyone that is going to be there. Like yourself, there are a surprisingly large number of people flying in from all over the country for the finale.

Orange County Sheriff deputies were out en masse this weekend. They're going to need many many more that final weekend to keep order. PI would be smart, IMO, to stop the liquor at 1:30am like they normally do but then keep the places open until 3am to spread out departing guests.

You can guarantee it won't be the same way you always remembered. It's pretty chaotic now, that weekend will be the worst.

The've got the projector set up and a sheet hanging over the balcony railing. They've been using it for the Hoopla the past couple of nights. Saw them do a brief test Friday night. It's interesting. The camera angle is odd, but probably the best they can do without sacraficing guest space.

ahhh.. We wondered what the material was for. They were joking it was for their puppet show. ;) But never said what it really was.

Ok, AC fans, I need some guidance. DH & I and another couple were going to bid farewell to the AC next Saturday the 18th, but we can't get there until 8:30. What do you think our chances of getting in will be? We're only going to the AC, nowhere else. I need some guidance! Thanks! :)

Next Saturday is the 20th.

Couldn't tell you about getting in though.

Just expect a line to get in. But I would think you could get in. And yes, the 18th is a Thursday, which would actually allow a better chance I think.

OOPS!! It would help if I read the calendar! Yes, I was meaning the 20th, not the 18th.

Ok, well that makes me feel a bit better. I'm prepared for lines, I'm prepared for crowds, but I'm concerned about actually not being able to get in.
