Adventurers Club update

OOPS!! It would help if I read the calendar! Yes, I was meaning the 20th, not the 18th.

Ok, well that makes me feel a bit better. I'm prepared for lines, I'm prepared for crowds, but I'm concerned about actually not being able to get in.

You'll get in...eventually. If it's that busy, they will start dumping Library shows outside again.

The wild card this weekend is the Cast Members. They will no longer get in free Thursday-Saturday, and they have been a huge chunk of the crowd. So it may not be a capacity crowd like last Saturday. I'm thinking they may save their money to buy tickets for the last weekend instead--but of course, I could be wrong.

We booked a trip specifically for the last weekend of the AC. Now I'm concerned that it won't be the same way as we've always remembered it :sad2: We arrive next thursday morning (the 25th) and are there through Monday evening... Hopefully thursday we'll be a little less crowded... although I guess I'm one of those crazy people that would be willing to stand in line for hours before the club opens...

Did same thing, booked a trip specifically for the last weekend. Flying in Thursday morning but we are staying until Oct, 1. We were going to try and go on the 25th 26th and 27th. Have to wait and see how it goes. It's looking like all 3 days might not happen.:sad2:

I'm still trying to convince DBF to hand over his CC for a weekend getaway

We were on vacation last week and went twice...

The first was Sunday the 7th - that night was AWESOME! While it was crowded there was still seating available and the cast was in Tip Top Shape. We were able to get a Souvenir Cup and I most definitely had my fair share of the Kungaloosh that night!

The second visit was Thursday the 1tth - It must have been a Cast Member night because it was Obnoxiously Crowded! They removed some of the seating and had just hung the "movie Screen." The actors didn't really stay in character and they seemed more interested in socializing. It was way too hectic to enjoy.

I'm glad I had gone earlier in the week and had one last Good Experience! It will be missed!

Good luck to those who go on Closing Night! Kungaloosh! :drinking1

We were thinking of doing the same thing, but decided it just wouldn't be the same, and we wanted to keep our memories pure and lovely. I am mildly claustrophobic, and I am certain I would not have as much fun in these final nights from that alone.

I hope you have a wonderful time, regardless!:cutie:

I plan on just basically getting drunk and dancing at Mannequins. If I'm lucky maybe I can get into CW

So on a crazy whim I'm considered flying down Monday and back on Tuesday just for 1 last night at the AC. I got more then enough Delta miles to cover my wife and I and Sheraton points for 1 night at the Safari hotel just outside of WDW.

Its a Monday night, so it may not be too crazy, but it is the last week, so every night may be crazy.

Thoughts? Is it worth it?

We are booked and going for the week as I said earlier, but after reading all the different posts the AC we all knew does not look like it is going to be the AC I see next week. Still any reason for going to disney will do.

True, but half the joy of going to the AC was that you never knew what to expect. Things popped up all the time and the actors adapted. I would hope that the recent changes are being explained away by the performers.

I should also note that my wife and I had the welcome party to our Disney wedding at the AC, so it has an extra special meaning for us.

Only you can decide if it's worth the miles and points. IMO, FREE is FREE!! So why not? I doubt Monday will be very hectic. Most people coming to town are coming for that final weekend. I expect on Monday that you can see multiple shows at Adventurers Club. Can't promise though, of course.

According to some Adventurers Club fans who may have sources at Disney, Disney is considering reopening the Adventurers Club at some point. This is far from certain but is supposedly actually being discussed. If you have not written letters or signed the petitions and you would like to see the Club continue in the future, please consider letting Disney know that! If you need addresses or links, they can be found on the site linked in my signature.

I haven't heard if they are considering reviving the dance clubs or not, but if they think there's enough demand for them I would think they would consider that as well.

I have heard that and all sorts of rumors from the start. But nothing more than wishful thinking, I think. I have not heard it from any reliable source, and will believe it when something looks to be in the works or announced officially.
The powers that be royally screwed up PI and DTD long ago, IMHO. And I think the wheels have been going on to close PI far too long to stop now.
I don't forsee any good for DTD in a long time. An overinflated baloon and thin t-shirts guests don't like are not going to entice people to DTD, for my prediction.
It will be interesting when Flamingo Crossing opens and how much of that foot traffic leaves DTD to go there instead.

This would be such great news!!! i can only hope that it will happen one of these days.

I sent snail mail letters to everyone I could think of at Disney. When I checked my messages today there was a VM from DVC about a letter I had sent. I did not include my phone number in my letter, just my address since I used a business letter format so they had to look me up to call. Anyway, I will be returning the call once I get home and can use my own phone. If I learn anything interesting I'll let you know, most likely it will be the canned answer to appease me, but who knows?
I was thanked for the letter and told that it was important for all those who were concerned to voice their opinion. Other than that I didn't get much other than higher ups decide and then the rest of the people find out, and that there has been a significant amount of mail concerning this. I was pleased that it was not a go to the offerings at the BW (not the same as AC, nothing really is), etc. kind of call but one that seemed sincere about voicing honest opinions.

Update from someone there the last night: guess who won the last Balderdash Cup? ;)

Yes, Otis T. Wren FINALLY won a Balderdash Cup!!!!!

My friend said it was packed - he talked to many people who flew in - two guys from as far as Canada. People were lining up at 3 pm for tickets. He was one of the first 350 allowed in (that's all the club holds) and stayed until about 10 pm. The crowd was fluxing until that point, some out and some more coming in. But at that point it became apparent that people were staying until the end. The place was scheduled to close at 2 pm.

He said there were two of some characters, working opposite ends of the club and leading to some funny jokes. They were also doing the holiday shows - he saw the Halloween one. Lots of people brought things for the characters to sign.

As far as he knows, there was no free gift for being there on the last night. Now the club will have a month of private parties.
