Adventurers Club at PI

Has anyone ever been in this place before? I have never heard of it but it sounds like a fun place according to the latest issue of The Disney Magazine.

We have kids age 10 and 11. Will they be OK in there or is it more like a bar and less like a family place?

Any replies will be great!

It is lots of fun. If you go early, around 7pm it will be alright for your kids. Lots of interaction with the CM's. Later it gets more adult.

A) It is a REALLY fun place.

B)YRegarding kids, you'll get differing opinions on this. I don't think anyone would describe it as a ''family place." It is a bar. I personally don't think kids belong there. I would agree that you will see some kids early on in the evening, but as the night goes on it does become more adult.

We were there a couple years ago with our kids. We went right at the opening and enjoyed about 20 min. worth of stuff. They have different rooms that you go in for "lectures" or whatever. I'm pretty sure the CMs there were very aware of the kids and kept things pretty clean. We also hit the comedy club's first show that evening for the same reason. Even without my kids with me, that's when I would go to these places.

We only went to PI with them that time because we had some old hoppers that were good for 1 day anywhere except AK. We did Blizzard Beach during the day and PI that evening on the same ticket. I doubt I would actually pay for tickets in to PI for my kids. There's just too much adult stuff for my taste.

My family used to take my sister and I here when we were younger -- 12 or so? I remember it being a blast, and one of my favorite things. Of course, I was a bit of a ham, which helped a lot.... I got a lot of interaction with the characters, which would lead me to think that they didn't mind too much.

But you know your kids best, and if you think they'll get into it. And I'd also leave before it got too late, and perhaps more adult.

This subject can get a little touchey... There are some on this board who will make you feel like a horrible parent if you subject your children to the Adventurers Club. I on the other hand have taken my DD9 there twice and we had a blast..... We did go early and left by 9:00- 9:30. I would say it is no worse than taking your child to a PG13 movie.

I especially love it in both the AC and Comedy Warehouse when they kid around about the parents bringing their children to a bar.

I'm sorry, but I am one of those people who feel it is wrong for Disney to allow children into these bars. And that is what they are folks, bars. Folks should be able to have their night time fun in a bar without having to watch out for young ears. But it is Disney's decision, and as long as they allow it...

The only thing worse is when people complain afterwards about the adult behavior exhibited around their kids.

Anyways, the AC is an awesome way to spend a night out. All the different skits are great, and the interaction between them can be very fun, if you are not shy and get into the act. Second and third times there can be less fun due to repetition, but the first time is really a blast.

First off..... IT'S DISNEY so deal with the children and second.....It is not a BAR it is an improv club! There are prenty of places at EPCOT that they serve alcohol but I would not consider them bars....
Both times we were stopped in there were other children there and the characters did NOT seem to have a problem at all in fact they would include them.

So what is a bar then?

The only difference between the bars on PI, and the bars in our local towns, is that Disney has figured out that allowing kids is the only way to get more money.

If you can find me another all ages "Improv Club" that serves alcohol, but no food, I would like to see it.

It really does all depends on what you like to do when you go out. My DF and I were walking around PI and saw AC, and decided to go in and check it out. You all must understand that we are 23-24 years old, and spent the majority of our time in the Beach Club and Motion. I think I speak for both of us when I say that we felt a sense of confusion in there.
It has so many things going on, that it almost feels overwhelming when we first walked in. Maybe if we enjoyed that type of atmosphere we would have enjoyed it a bit more, but at least at this point in or lives Motion or Beach Club fits us a bit better. It may be a great place to bring children, and I am sure that alot of things that they have there they will find very interesting

Just because it's Disney does not mean children have to be everywhere. On the Magic and Wonder there are clubs, restaurants, and pools that are just for adults. At WDW there are 20+ resorts, 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, 2 miniature golf courses, Disney Quest, the marketplace and the West side that are all kid appropriate and I would totally expect to find kids all over those places. While I would not call someone a horrible parent for taking their kid to PI, I shouldn't be called a horrible person for wanting PI to be what it was originally intended to be, a place for adults to have an adult time.

Also, you can call it whatever you want, but it's a bar. Smack dab in the middle of the salon there is a bar that people sit at and order drinks. And there is another one at the back of the library. Is there entertainment in this bar? Yes. And even if you want to call it an Improv Club, name alone doesn't make it appropriate for kids. When I go to a comedy club (Not at Disney, but other places), it may be called a comedy club, and not a bar, but that doesn't make it a place for kids, not unless you want to hear swearing and sexually explicit jokes.

I know that we have two factions of people on this board regarding this issue, and we have to just agree to disagree. But again, you don't want to be made to feel like a bad parent, don't make others feel like bad people.

I totally agree. There are more than enough places to take the littles ones instead of a bar. Get a babysitter or take them to a Kids Club. I, for one, would like to have at least one night out w/o the kids and would like to find a place to go where they are not everywhere. I AM the mother of a 4 y/o and she goes to restaurants with us where, yes, we do consume alcohol on occassion, but when we plan on going to a comedy club or anything of the sort, we certainly don't even consider bringing her. I am sure there are much more appropriate places for kids in DW! The mere thought of "Pleasure Island" doesn't evoke images of young children. Maybe they should just completely restrict entrance to everyone over 18/21. Just my rant. DH has said that I bring DD way too many places with us, so maybe I am just as guilty, but I try to gauge age-appropiatness along with my desire for "family togetherness". It is kind of like the people who take their kid to a nice restaurant and they COMPLETELY misbehave, the parents don't do anything and they expect everybody abound them to accept it because "It's DisneyWorld and kids are everywhere. " IMHO-not an excuse! Totally off the subject, and I'm sorry for the vent!!! This is an interesting thread though, and I enjoy reading all the posts, keep it up!

The Adventurers Club is a bar with a show.

The Comedy Warehouse is a show with a bar.

I think they're both fine for teens, but I personally wouldn't bring any younger kids to either.

Hey, thanks for all the replies! I think we will skip the AC and PI all together. We have never been to PI but once and that was in the middle of the day. AC sounds a bit risque for our kids ears. And if I have to pay to find that out, it will be very dissapointing.

We were at AC and the comedy club on 8/8, a Sunday night. I don't know if it's peculiar to Sunday, but one of the CM's inside the AC told us that there was no cover in the Club until 9 pm. I don't know how they could enforce that, if someone is inside without a wristband after 9 I doubt they would ask them to leave. They just couldn't buy drinks. If true, quite a bit goes on before 9, enough to get a feel for the place anyway.

This was our second visit to the AC and we were disappointed. The first time, it was hilarious. This time, same skits, different actors, and not very funny. Maybe we got the "B" cast. We sort of fled to the Comedy Club and it was a riot.
