I had a wonderful day at the park yesterday! I met a number of cool and interesting people. But first things first: Adventureland was not available for rope dropping. As is shown in the pic below, the women’s bathroom is undergoing a refurb and CMs weren’t allowing guests to enter via AL at rope drop. Later, however, the entrance was open although particularly narrow, which is why, I suspect, it was closed for RD. I meant to ask a CM how long it would last but got caught up talking to folks. If it’s still that way next weekend, I’ll definitely ask for an ETA.
Mr. Toad was also closed. I was told that it'll last until Friday. Crowds at the rope were unusually heavy as well. A friend suggested that was due to summer winding down.
I met a great family on the tram – it was their first post-pandemic visit! – and suggested that they join us at the rope for the Fantasyland RD, since PP was their starting attraction. But they were a bit slower than I was and got to the park gates about a minute behind me. However, I spotted them in the rope crowd a bit later and they joined us. They were headed for PP so I suggested that they follow me. I was the first at the attraction from RD but there was one guy between me and the fam. He seemed a bit peeved that I beat him but… thems the breaks ;-). We then rode Dumbo as a group. As we were about to take off, the daughter called out to me and snapped a pic. Then I did the same with them. Charming folks and I hope to see them again.
My first score on Buzz didn’t come through, however my second one did. I couldn’t have been more pleased, since I scored 2,095,600. One more shot or so and I would have exceed 2,097,000 and my score would have reset, as it did last weekend. >;-(.
I like to have tea at the park at around 11:15. Just as I was getting it assembled (I bring my own tea: Whittard of Chelsea, which is no longer exported to the US), I met a great woman carrying a planner. I wondered if she was super into structured days and asked her about it. We then talked for about 15 minutes. She works for an English school for Japanese students. They brought all 65 of the kids to the park yesterday! The problem? Their reservations were for another day. The solution? They had to buy tickets for all 65 kids and ten staff again at the Disneyfied price of… $13,000! Wow. Someone’s probably going to be in trouble for that SNAFU, thankfully, though, it won't be her
. As I said, she was super cool. Towards the end of our conversation, I gave her some park tips including single-rider info. She’d hoped to get on a few rides and my suggestions made at least those three attractions possibilities.
Also met an adorable bounder in the late morning. She told me that she comes about once a month from NorCal and always bounds as a different character. I’ll keep an eye out for her on future visits.
I have park map sets, if anyone would like one. Simply send me a DM (“Start Conversation”) and include your address. Domestic is preferred but I make occasional international exceptions.
Also, I stopped and chatted with Frank at the Main Street porch. He’s virtually a permanent fixture there and I’ve known him for about six years. He comes to DL nearly every day and about 100 guests/CMs stop and talk or say hello to him daily. I just learned yesterday that he’s a Rubik’s Cube master and a young guest brought hers for him to solve, which he did in about three mins.
Some park pics. Note the rainbow in the castle fountain!
