Advantages to the Disney Visa?

I'm wondering what the advantages to the Disney Visa are. We have several other credit cards so don't exactly need another one, but I wanted to find out more info about it. We have a Universal Mastercard, which gives us rewards (I think we have enough points for a few park admissions) and I thought that maybe Disney has the same type of deal.

Thanks, T&B

I did just check the Bank One Disney Visa site and see that there are perks to using the card, but it's hard to tell how hard is is to earn the rewards or exactly what they are.

you can earn reward dollars that can be used at any Disney owned store, resort etc with every purchase you make. The rewards are 1% of your purchases (sometimes they have double rewards for certain purchases). Each reward dollar is equal to $1.00. They are currently offering $50 bonus rewards when you open a new Disney Visa. I opened one last year when they were having a similar offer. I couldn't resist the $50 bonus. Usually, they will offer 0% interest on Disney vacations for 6 months, as well as discounts for Disney vacations, merchandise etc.

I would recommend that you pay your balance in full every month, because their interest rate is very high and not worth paying when you are only earning 1% in rewards. I probably would not have this card if we weren't going on a Disney vacation this year, but since we are going in August, the rewards will come in handy for extra spending money.

When you are ready to use your rewards, you can request a rewards card that you can use to purchase things from any Disney store ( in WDW or in your local mall), pay for resort accomodations etc. It is like a prepaid debit/credit card. You can add more reward dollars to the card as you earn them.

Thanks! The reward card is interesting. I'll have to look into what percentage we are getting back on our other credit cards. I think 1% on Discover, but not sure and I don't know about our Am Ex. I guess the advantage to the Disney Visa (besides any initial bonus reward) is that the 1% is earmarked for Disney and can't be spent elsewhere (bad if that's not where a person wants to spend their $). Yes, we always pay our balance off every month and use the CCs for the convenience of them.
