I was just wondering does becoming a Lowes Youfirst member give you any advantages or upgrades at any of the Universal Hotels?

Yes it is beneficial. Go to Lowes you first rewards and look under benefits to the left and it lists all the levels and the the benefits for each level.

Seemed like forever to climb the ladder to get to different levels

We dont go enough to get much of a benefit, but there's no downside to being a member.
