Advantages and Disadvantages booking air through DCL

If we are flying in the day before our Alaska cruise in May, is there any advantage to using DCL air and transfers?

You don't get the flight schedule until 30-45 days prior to departure. What type of schedule can I expect? More than one stop?

Anyone have an experience they would like to share?
