Advantage of using Disney Visa onboard?

Hi all - apologies if this has been covered well elsewhere (I'm sure someone will point me to it if so )...

Is there a big advantage to using the Disney Visa onboard for your charges account? Do you receive a discount at shops or at the bars etc.? I know you get the 2% back in rewards which we are saving for a Disney World vacation in the next few years (yes?).

They are discontinuing the $50 onboard credit for beverages from what I read. You can still earn reward dollars to use onboard towards your onboard account.

If you're cruising in 2017 and have the Disney Visa for your onboard charges, you get 10% off of a $50+ purchase in the shops (lots of things that don't qualify (mostly the high end stuff)--so check the Disney Visa website for details), as well as some other discounts for the spa on port days, and on non-discounted photo packages.

If you're cruising in 2016 and have made ALL your payments with the Disney Visa, you can have your TA or Disney add the $50 onboard Beverage Credit code to your cruise.

sounds like you have the Premier Version of the Disney Visa (2pts/$). The way we use our rewards is for airline flights - why "spend" your rewards at / on Disney when they are giving you double points on those Disney purchases? Living in the NW, we have to fly to get to any DCL port other than Vancouver. We we could (and have) drive to San Diego ... but why?
