Advantage of the Poly

You definitely don't get any preferential treatment just for staying at the resort when it comes to dining unless you are staying Club level.
That's not true. A few years ago in December at the Contemporary on the Atrium Club Level while my family and I were waiting to ask something to one of the Cast Members, there was this mother and daugther trying to make a last minute ADR at the Concourse Steakhouse. Well when the Cast Member looked on the computer all they had was for 9:00 PM and when she asked if there were any other times the Cast Member said that was it.

These two are actually not true--you do not get any special treatment for reservations, and anyone can go to the Neverland Club. But other than that, I completely agree!! :)

Regarding the preferential treatment for resort guests for ADRs, I was told that by customer service at Poly. I couldn't get an ADR for O'Hana's prior to the trip and checked with the desk each day. I finally got one and he claimed that it was in part due to my being a guest of the resort. He must have been trying to cheer me up. I was ever so greatful as our dinner at Kona was a bit of a disaster the previous night due to waitstaff, not the food.

Now that I know you don't have to be a guest to use the NeverLand Club, I can drop my son off next trip. Many thanks for that one.

Ive been reading these boards for a couple of months and am starting to get a little T'd!

I have 2 rooms booked at the Poly for Thanksgiving week...paying approx $11K for vacation for 6.

Ive been reading that anyone and their mother can...

1) Eat at the restaurants and reserve before resort guests (if checking in earlier)
2) Park in the lot, use the monorail
3) See Wishes from the beaches
4) Use the kids club
5) Although frowned upon...use the pools (nobody checks IDs??)

Im starting to question if I should just stay in a value and hang out at the Poly all day??

Can someone tell me what the advantage of paying and staying there is??

I say shame on those people who park in the parking lot to go to the Magic Kingdom, and they do not stay at the Polynesian. I say shame on those people who use the resort pools when they are not staying at that hotel. It's more the peoples/guests fault because they are the ones who are not following the rules. :sad2:

I'm sure the customer service guy was just trying to cheer you because guests at the Poly get no preferential treatment for OHana's. It was great that you were able to score a reservation!!!!
Sorry Kona didn't work out for you.

....blahblahblah...

If WDW had any brains, they would create a gated community resort where not just anybody could visit. This is Disney World for godness sakes! I should be able to escape from the peasants and the other peons out there. Let 'em go to Six Flags and leave WDW to me!

I know you're trying to be funny/sarcastic, but what I read from the initial poster was that they didn't understand why someone would pay to stay there if anyone can partake of the same amenities. And some of us are trying to constructively explain what really makes it worth the price to stay there. But seeming to mock the OP isn't very helpful (even if your post was quite funny on its own).

CL does have its advantage in this area when it comes to the restaurants of the resort of the CL. Its not a big one and keep in mind this does not translate to absolute guaranteed table but a limited number of tables are held each evening for resort CL guest. At a certain time each day I would suspect their released.

Gosh, I'm hoping this was all just a joke. If not, then someone got up on the wrong side of the bed today...
Last time I stayed at Poly was a disaster:

-There was a family of four sitting at the next table to us at 'Ohana. They seemed nice enough, but they just had this "value resort" vibe to them. Ugh. I had to eat a meal amongst folks who, quite frankly, would have been more comfortable eating at Everything Pop.

-Once, while waiting to hop on the monorail, I overhead a young lady tell her husband how much she liked Poly and might stay there next time. And they were on there way back to POFQ! A Mod couple! Why should I have to breathe the same air as a Mod couple while waiting for the monorail? I would think, with the money I spent, I would not be subjected to mingling with the unwashed masses. Sure, at least they weren't another "value" group, but still -- quite annoying.

-One night, while laying on a hammock and waiting to view Wishes, the slight breeze carried a foul odor in my direction. Someone had obviously just farted. And since deluxe people don't fart, I mean break wind, I knew it had to be someone from a lesser resort! It could have been someone from a Mod, but I was thinking I knew who it was. There had to be a family there that had just eaten at the Hoop-de-Doo show. The all-you-can-eat baked beans, ribs, and fried chicken were beginning to work its magic. Some value-type family had obviously eaten at Fort Wilderness and come over to Poly for Wishes. Just as I was about to investigate from whence the value stench originated, Wishes began, and I decided to just enjoy the show.

Another thing with the swimming pool issue: I'd say about half or more of the people who do it, think that they have the right to swim in a pool at a resort where they are not staying at. They ignore the fact that they are taking up room/space in the pool for those guests who are staying at the pool's hotel.

I had to read it twice to make sure you were joking:laughing: I didn't get quite the same vibe from the original post...sounds more like she's concerned about her money not being well spent and less about stereotyping people.

In todays enviroment and with people getting "ticked off" about the simplist and dumbest things, MAYBE she wasn't joking ? :confused3 :scared1:

But it is funny. :rotfl:
