I need some help here. I contacted one of the recommended "unofficial" Disney travel agencies and they're giving me the exact price that the Disney site shows. I don't exactly see the advantage here.

Info: 2ad, 1ch (5), 5 nights at DLH, 4-day passes. We need to go in March, but I'm flexible on the dates. I was hoping to go while it was still the value season, but when adjusting the dates, the agent gave me the same price!!!

Where should I go to get the best deal? Expedia isn't a good deal once you add in the passes. My friend told me that they booked last year for 2ad/3ch more and I only have one kid!

Help! Am I a doofus or what?

But.... I have a few suggestioins.....
1. You can't compare anything to what someone got last year. Prices have gone up. Maybe there was a "SPECIAL" rate at the time that they booked.

2. Find a GOOD agent. I am not a proponent of booking online UNLESS you know exactly what you want and how to get it.
A good agent, will check your reservation if a special becomes available and adjust your rate if they can. They will help you make priority seating reservations, offer suggestions, FIND answers to your questions. I've not known expedia or travelocity to do these things.

3. You don't pay commission to an agency... The Vendor does. They don't increase your price to cover the commission. Chances are, if you are booking at WDTravel package.... it is pretty much the same price.

These are the ADVANTAGES of booking with a good agent.

Something that you may want to look for

"Authorized Disney Vacation Planner" Walt Disney Travel has signed on numerous agencies across the country. Ask if they will adjust the price for you if something goes on sale?

I had a problem with local AAA. The agent seemed not to be able to make the same ressie's thru the agency that I could do on line we went round and round and finally gave up. Tried local TA's that were Disney authorized and they could not come up with any saving's advantages for June 2006. I booked AAA. Maybe just an illusion, but I will stick with AAA. Gives me some confort when I drive 2500 miles to see the mouse.

I always like to book on my own because it gives me more flexibility in case of emergencies. When you book a package, you're locked in and you'll lose your money in case you have to cut your vacation short or cancel at the last minute. Try doing it separately and add up the charges and most of the time, you will find that you can do better or the same on your own. One of the reasons is that packages sometimes include things you may not need or want, but because it's part of the package, you'll be paying for it.
