My best deal on a car rental for later this week is from Advantage. Anyone use them before and recommend or recommend against using them? Btw, they are only about $30 cheaper than Alamo, so do I stick with what I've used or try the unknown?
Advantage is now a subsidiary of Hertz. It's no frills (replaces the Hertz Simply Wheelz product), so no discount codes, coupons, upgrades, miles credit, etc. Just the car rental at the reserved price. I suspect the cars might be a little older or higher milage too, but still backed by Hertz!
Thanks for all the replies! It is nice to know that that they are part of Hertz, which I have rented from before. Still undecided if it is worth the extra $30 to go with Alamo....
We used Advantage here in Milwaukee earlier this year and it was no different than any of the "name brand" rental agencies. They tried to push their insurance a bit, but so do all the others. We would definitely try them again, especially for $30. I believe I reserved a mid-size (??) and we got a Nissan Altima and it was in great condition.

I would put zero value on reviews from that site and most similar sites for car rental. Generally the people who leave car rental reviews on those type of sites are people who had issues.
I'm researching Advantage as well for my January trip. You probably saw the banner if you booked through their site, but they are offering a free class upgrade on Oct. rentals using code 1884441. If you stick with them, come back and share how it went!

I only used that particular link because the reviews were more current than the other sites I looked at. Most of the reviews of Alamo from the same site are a bit older and some even before Enterprise took them over. Yes, people post who have issues and naturally they are pretty much one sided. As I told the OP, there is lots of info on this company out on the net.
Personally, for the 30.00 difference, I would go with "the devil I know".
