Adults ordering from the Childs Menu

I have had gastric bypass 9 years ago and I eat around as much as a 3 year old. I eat half a small sandwich at the most and no sides just to give you an example. I am not talking about at buffets but at signature restaurants. If I want to order off the child's menu will I have a problem? I might not have to with the appetizers the signatures offer but just in case how is Disney with it? I might need to add in a chicken breast or some kind of protein with an appetizer.

There are some restaurants that my family really wants to dine at but I am not paying for an entree for me to have a few bites of protein.

I have a laminated card from my DR stating that I have had the surgery. I always joke that if questioned I could show the scars to prove it :)

My last trip eating like that was 5 years ago and I was able to and even charged the children price at the buffet places but it's been a while.

My first trip using a child price for a buffet meal I felt like I wanted to show the waitress how little I was taking but I didn't. They could not have been nicer about it but after reading the thread about Disney no longer offering the discount I cancelled all buffets. I just don't want to pay those fees for me to eat like a bird.

I was reading a thread where people said Disney no longer offered a reduced price for the buffets. I can deal with that, my child is now old enough the skip the character meals since we have to.

Thanks,
Lisa

They won't discount the buffet or all you can eat prices at all but they will do their best to accommodate you. When it's "order off the menu", you can order a kid's meal with no issues.

Disney won't look at your doctor's note. They will let your order of the kid's menu, as long as it is not an all you care to eat family style restaurant or buffet.

If someone in your family wants to eat at a character buffet, you can always think of it as you are paying more for the experience than the food. Which is probably true for most people anyway. No way do I eat enough for them to charge me $30 for breakfast, but I like being able to see the characters without a line.

I have been to Disney more than 35 times I have seen my share of characters so I don't need to. We love the Crystal Palace for breakfast it's so pretty but I am half a bagel and a few strips of bacon. I don't need the Pooh experience enough to pay 30.00 for that :). Last time I went there was about 5 years ago and I paid the children's price they looked at my card and it was on the ADR also. We like Tusker House for the different foods but I cancelled it. I just want to be able to add a chicken breast or something simple like that with an appetizer that might not be all protein.

I have never been turned down at Disney but I guess there is a new policy.

I had gastric sleeve a year ago. Apparently it's a no-go at buffets; we didn't try. We never do the dining plan and I order whatever I want off of whatever menu (child's, adult, appetizer, whatever) at every other restaurant in Disney. My husband and I share all the time. They never bat an eye. I also have a card from my doctor, but it hasn't ever made any difference to them either way. Good luck!

You can absolutely order off the kid's menu at Signatures! My Dad did it last trip. He's just a picky eater. They did charge double the child's price for double the child's portion (to make it adult sized) so I am not sure if you'll be able to get around that [this was the case at all TS locations for him]. You will be charged adult price at the buffets, as they are priced by age not appetite.

I'm not a big eater, no conditions, just a small person and often order off the child's menu at TS. A few times they have charged me adult prices even though I was eating child's portion but most of the time it's not a problem.

One thing is that everything on the chold's menu is usually really unhealthy stuff I often share with my kids from my plate because I don;t want them to eac mac n cheese chicken fingers etc... If you are traveling with someone else I would sahre and adult meal.

. . . doctor note/cards do not mean a thing
. . . they are too easily faked

I was reading a thread where people said Disney no longer offered a reduced price for the buffets.
. . . Disney does not discount for such surgery
. . . there is no way to watch how much you eat
. . . buffets, character meal, dinner shows are full price **
. . . at ala carte eateries, just order from the kid's menu and pay the kiddie prices

** Every now-and-then, the eatery manager will discount or comp the meal for some folks (like kids with feeding tubes). But, even this is a rare occurrence. But, small appetites are not discounted.

Disney has a lot of food on their kids menus that is healthy--but you do need to look for it ahead of time. But if you do it is easy enough to find things like salads and salmon.

What I do is order what I like off the adult menu and take half to go and eat the next day.

I've never shown my card. But then again I usually order off regular and have asked them to box it (we stay at POFQ, so we have an in room refrigerator to store food, I have to walk down to the cafeteria to warm up the food but hey it works). Out of two trips to Disney World since being post op I can't recall having one issue getting it boxed when eating Table Service. You sound like you eat less then I do (less restriction because of the whole sleeve vs bypass thing). I know I can get two meals out of Disney portions usually (one in restaurant, and one later), three if the portions are humongous/not feeling as hungry that day.

As for the buffet. Never occurred to me to try and get child's prices. So I'm not sure how that would go over. Admittedly we didn't really do buffets at WDW, and it didn't occur to us when eating at Disneyland.

1) Pretty much like the proverbial Lead Balloon.
2) How can Disney make sure you only ate a child's portion/amount?
3) They don't have Buffet Police.
4) So, adults pay adult prices.
