It may actually happen this time.

DW starts a new job on Jan 28th and has 11 days off before that - I'm giving serious consideration to an adults only trip so she can relax before the new job starts.

If anyone has gone during the later end of January (19-25), what can we expect for crowds and weather. Also, do you know if there would be any issues with ADR's this late?

I'll also be giving some consideration to an all-inclusive - but I feel so safe and comfortable at WDW - I know we'd have a good time without the kids

We are going that same week, we expect low crowds and lower temperatures. I'm not sure about ADR's we've had ours for a while but you can test it out online. We are hoping for nice sunny warm days maybe around 20 or 21 and then cooler in the nights. We are packing layers.

Are you able to make an ADR without a current disney reservation in place? I mean that I'm still not sure we're going yet, so do i need to have everything else booked before I can make an ADR ?

You can making dining reservations even if you decide to stay off-site - you can always book and cancel if you decide not to go ahead with the trip.

We've gone during that time several times. Crowds are low :) weather is unpredictable, sometimes it's been very pleasant, sometimes a cold snap comes in. Pack for everything!
Right now WDW has a great deal for that time, up to 45% off room rates for DVC, 40% for deluxe, 35% mod, 30% value http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/

Can someone recommend some idifferent deas on activities without the kids tagging along (besides staying in the room :lmao:) .

We have been to Disney 4 times in 3 years - all with the kids who are now 14 and 15 years old.

I hinted around at a solo trip sometime, but DW seems to think we've been there enough over a short period of time and does not seem overly exited about going back anytime soon - the last thing I want it to get there and have her think the $$ would have been better spent going somewhere else.

I too was thinking DW wasn't going to be up for another WDW trip for our kid free trip this year, so I really didn't hint very much about it. Then we started looking at an all-inc in Mexico but the prices were too high, but we did decided on a cruise vacation. We are sailing on the Crown Princess in the western caribbean for 7 nights out of Ft.Lauderdale at a great rate. We used Aeroplan to book the flights and with the limited availability because we booked 2.5 months out we had to arrive a couple days early and a day later. The weird part is, now DW is saying it's too bad we couldn't spend more time ay WDW!

Now for idea's without the kids.

Nice dinners at the signature restaurants like Jiko, Cali Grill, etc.

Richard Petty Driving Experience - we both loved the ride-a-long! And DW got me a driving experience for my B-Day - even better

Lots of pool time with some cold drinks!

Kennedy Space Center - it's our list for a kid free trip.

Enjoy the MK fireworks from the beach at the Poly

HAPPY PLANNING!

We did the keys to the kingdom tour on our adult only vacation and loved it.

Book some time at one of the spas?

There are a quite a few adults leaving the kids at home trip reports you could check out for some good ideas.

Thanks for all the suggestions....things are abit more complicated in that I want this trip to be a complete surprise - so the entire decision on the trip is mine, along with the decision on what restaurants to make ADR's and justifying spending the $$ in the 1st place.

How would I go about booking the Keys to the Kingdom Tour - can it be done on-line or do I have to call in advance?

You have to call, here's the number -

Call (407) WDW-TOUR or (407) 939-8687

Well worth the $'s
