hi all
my hubby and i have an opportunity to go out with friends of ours without kids! we will only be able to go on a sat night and they don't want to pay admission to pleasure island.
any recommendations for a fun evening out? loooking for good food, drinks, nice atmosphere, music or some sort of entertainment.
thanks for your help!

The Boardwalk? Nice meal at a resort? Hang out at a resort lounge? Downtown Disney? If you're trying to keep costs down you could have dinner and go to an R rated movie at DTD:earsboy:

Id go to dinner at a place where you wouldnt usually go with the kids, then head to Jellyrolls for drinks and fun.
That is what we plan to do for our anniversary night out this summer. We will be eating at Yachtmans Steakhouse...if I dont change my mind again.

One of my DH's and my favorite nights out alone was having appetizers and mojitos at Bongos then heading upstairs to the dining room at Wolfgang Pucks (this is expensive so you would want to review the prices first) and then we went over and had drinks and listened to Jazz in the Jazz club - but as an alternative you could go to the House of Blues - on a Saturday night they will defnately have a band playing - which is an extra cover charge to listen to. They have a nice web site that will give you all the info on upcoming bands.

I agree about the Boardwalk - we have had nice adult nights out there too go to the brewery and then to ESPN - our favorite though remains DtD.

thanks for the suggestions
castlegazer, what jazz club are you referring to? this sounds like something we could get into.

I agree that both DTD and BW would be a great time. You also may want to consider an "adult" evening at the Grand Floridian. Dinner at a nice restuarant, followed by enjoying the band in the lobby, followed by watching fireworks and/or Electrical Water Pageant from a balcony or the beach. DTD or BW would be fun and exciting, while the GF would be more relaxing.

Well, the reason I suggested the HOB was that the Jazz Club is in Pleasure Island - which if you were to only go to the Jazz Club for the price of admission to PI it would be more than what you indicated you wanted to spend. It is an awesome Jazz Club and is our only stop beyond Adventurers Club every time we go. BUT....you can get discounted PI tickets pretty easily with a coupon in the tourist magazines in Orlando or through TicketMania or use a Plus. The Jazz club is top notch and definately feels like an adult night out - it is very classy with a brick interior and places you very close to the singers in intimate little tables or round tables for a group of people.

You know, maybe someone will come along who knows the answer to this question but my DH and I used to go into PI before 7pm - the time they start charging admission - and grab drinks and check everything out like The Adventurers Club - I wonder if you were to enter PI prior to 7pm whether or not you would pay a separate cover just for the Jazz Club? I just don't know as its been a number of years that we have been able to escape for an adults night out and PI rules may have changed because the shops are no longer open prior to 7pm on PI.

Does anyone know? Does anyone know if there is still a desert menu at the Jazz Club? :listen:

Have a nice dinner at Yachstman Steakhouse, then walk over to the BoardWalk side to Jelly Rolls.

Just a small cover charge $5-$7?
Adults Only, 21 and over

Lots of fun, get a table down by the pianos, be prepared to Sing and Dance along!

I don't think you can enter prior to 7:00 without admission and then stay. They wrist-band you at 7:00 to show that you've paid admission. We thought we could do that many, many years ago and it was a no-go. Disney has it all covered.

I just want to say how lucky you are that you get to go out without the kids!!! For our upcoming trip I wanted to have some "adult time" just DH & I, but NOT A CHANCE!!! DH absolutely refuses to leave the kids, and they are 8 & 11, so we're not talking babies here!!!

Have a great time no matter where you decide to go!!!

I just want to clarify - you used to be allowed to go into PI prior to 7 pm for free, and this was fairly recent - however, since they made some cutbacks and shut all the shops on PI you now can not even cut through on your way to the Marketplace prior to 7pm and there are no clubs open or anything. This used to be the way my DH and I could go on our trips before we passed out from exhaustion (not drink) each night.
