Adults only DVC vacation...what am I forgetting?

Do the Segway Tour in Epcot!!!

We just loved this on our last trip!

(We don't have any kids, so every trip for us has been adults only!)

Six days and we will be doing the same. A no kids Disney trip to BWV. It will be our 1st time at BWV. We have some 2TS ADR's that we would never do with the kids. We plan on doing several tours and having breakfast in bed one morning. I just hope Hanna will fizzle and it not be too soggy.

If you have a kitchen, and you like to cook, you can order groceries for a special dinner at home. We have done that on every trip when not in a studio.

Do anything that you can't do with the kids. And...SLOW DOWN! It's really enjoyable. We just got back. Even though our kids are adults, it was so enjoyable to be by ourselves without house/pet/parent responsibilities. We're still relaxed...and we left WDW on 8/25!

Horse-drawn carriage rides at POR or FW
ride on the Breathless (Yacht/Beach marina)
Parasailing at Contemporary
watching Wishes from a hammock on Poly beach
leisurely walk the path to DTD or stroll the rest of the grounds
remember your vows at the Wedding Pavilion

One other thing...don't forget watch Wishes after you eat at the Cali Grill.

Our favorite thing is that there is NO ONE to worry about but you so everything seems slower and less stressful.

My husband and I tried this, watching wishes from the Poly Beach, it was unbelievably noisy with tons of kids not only running around (that I so get, mom of twins here), but screaming on the top of their lungs. I mentioned to my husband, "where are the parents", I get letting them run and dig and play in the sand, even at 9 p.m. - it is Disney hours, but the screaming???" I mean screaming like they were being tortured, while they were running through all the people sitting on the lounges, etc. It made for an experience I wouldn't recommend or want to repeat.

I'd consider nixing that one, just speaking from personal experience....

There are books on the subject. Try to get Birnbaum's "Walt Disney World Without Kids 2008" or another book called "Walt Disney World for Couples."

I wouldn't necessarily count it out. It may be the time of year and where you sit on the beach. If you sit by the pool, there's more of a chance of having kids running amok, but it you walk to the right or left a little ways, we've always had good luck. (and it's darker ) I would think that there will be less kids in October than during the summer months. We love it and still recommend it to everyone.

Same here - the kids are grown and moved out and it's just us and the dogs, but we love our "just us" Disney trips. We've recently done two trips with kids/grandkids (5/2) and while it's always wonderful to see Disney through their eyes, we are SO looking forward to next July and a just us anniversary trip. The entire trip is different, slower pace yet you seem to see much more.

And while those who have not "drank the kool aid" don't understand, there is something truly romantic about being a couple, of any age, at WDW.

Enjoy the time together and don't worry about doing everything - that's the real magic of an adult only trip.

As for watching Wishes from Poly- our server from Ohana told us to watch from the end of the boat dock. We did and it was great! There were only about 5 other people on the dock and NO kids. We really enjoyed it!

We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with an adults only trip to WDW in just 5 weeks from now - this is the first time in our 25 years of marriage that we have spent 2 weeks holiday (or "vacation" - we're British!!) on our own! Having read this thread out to DH, he has agreed to get a badge - but do we need proof? (i.e our marriage certificate?).

All of my trips have been couples-only save one with family.

Cali grille is a good idea. Wonderful place.
Raglan Road is another. We've made that our "Welcome Home" dinner of choice on arrival nights. We both love Irish folk music.
Take your time wandering the slow parts of Epcot. There's so much to see and I imagine the kids usually want you to breeze through the boring parts.
Try one or more of the resort restaurants. We like to leave MK to visit the Kona Cafe in the Poly for one. Much better food than in the park and don't forget the dessert. (Or just go for dessert!)
We've spent an afternoon just riding busses to a few resorts, just to see what they looked like.
Breakfast at Boma in AKL, and take some time to check out the animals in daylight.
Tours can be fun. Behind the Seeds is easy to get in at the last minute and doesn't involve standing too terribly long.
Take an Ellen's Energy Nap(tm). Love a slow ride in the cool and dark for half an hour in the middle of the day.
Camp out a bench for a parade or fireworks. We've sat for 90+ minutes at a time, just chatting and people-watching.

Our first adult only trip was last May, for our 20th. It was nice! Of course, our DD is a senior in HS, so it's not like stroller touring anymore. She likes the nice restaurants as much as we do, but at least our bill was less! We ate at California Grill, Brown Derby, Bistro de Paris, the Plaza in MK, and Rose n' Crown. Firsts for us were the Bistro (we don't recommend the tasting menu!), the Plaza (not so good), and we had lunch in the pub at the Rose n Crown. We also did the Wild by Design tour at AK, chosen because they allow photography. Good tour.

One thing, I think you might have a better chance of getting a patio table at RnC, there seem to be more tables for two out there. We were wearing our buttons, and mentioned the anniversary, and lucked into a lovely table. Very nice waitress too, she gave us confetti. The whole evening was a highlight!

You can get Birthday, Newlywed, Anniversary, etc. buttons at check-in or at any guest services in the parks.

Um...Yachtsman's Steakhouse that would be the first nights dinner...ask for Suzy...she is a great waitress and has been there for ever! If they are still running the Breathless that would be a great fireworks cruise...my wife and I got engaged on it in 1998..., Beaches n cream for ice cream We go to Disney enough so we are going to Costa Rica for our 10 year...Have a great time!!

We did the same in May and did the following: Number 1 - we ate better, and enjoyed every tasty morsel in a very relaxed, non-rushed atmosphere. Number 2 - we swam with the Dolphins, what a blast and Number 3 - We used our room key a whole lot more to charge our favorite "refreshments" while sitting at Stormalong Bay - and even napped!!!

We go more without the kids (both are grown now). Do a tour, any tour! They are all great and relaxing. Ride Pirates over and over at night. Dinner at Ohana's with a window seat for the fireworks, or if not available, get a nice drink and grab a lounge chair and watch the fireworks by the lake behind Polynesians pool area....very romantic evening. The music is piped in over there.
Have a fun time! We'll be there for one of our 50th Bday at the end of Oct.! (not saying who is turning 50.....

I agree with the tour. We did the Backstage Magic this past October for our 25th anniversary. It was fabulous! We love eating at the signature restaurants. And Cirque du Soleil is wonderful. We have been empty nesters for a couple years and we are really enjoying all the adult things to do at WDW. If you are in for some excitement, do the parasailing from the Contemporary. You get great views of the resorts around the lake and the MK.
