Is it considered bad form for an adult to dress up as a Disney character. I was just wondering since the real characters are on board. Maybe the kids would get confused.... Yup I'm that good ;-). I think it is so adorable with the little girls in the Princess costumes. I'm not sure if adults are the same.... So I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I am a first time cruiser my family and I will be going this next Chriatmas and I am so excited!!!!

For the most part, unlike the parks, DCL doesn't mind if you dress in costume. That said, if you're costume is too good, DCL does prefer you make it clear to anyone asking for autographs or photos that you are not a"real" Disney character.

That's good to know :-) thanks I thought having a mommy daughter princess picture would be so fun!

I've see a lot of pirates and some adults "bounding" but can't recall any full on adult character costumes. Hmmmm...

ETA: I didn't read your above comment (mine posted at the same time I guess). I didn't know you meant with your daughter, that would be cute.

Yes normally I probably would just do the pirate thing but my daughter gets such a kick out of us dressing alike... I bought her and I matching pajamas and she has just been gaga about it, I have worn those very childlike pjs a lot haha So I thought she would like it and could be a precious picture. But I'm also a little self conscious about it too.we could probably get the same effect with pjs again. Maybe that's enough to.

Go for it! I've seen some elaborate costumes (we've done the Halloween on the high seas 3 times) and it makes it that much more fun!

My DH and I usually get dressed in really nice pirate costumes that he made for pirate night. He's working on Jedi costumes for our up coming cruise.

To avoid confusion, perhaps you could dress up as a non-disney princess? Fancy dress, tiara, wand, etc....

I have never seen an adult dressed like a Disney princess on board. Once a saw a woman dressed like Minnie Mouse.

Thanks all! I feel I have a lot better idea now. After thinking about it I'm gonna go all out on the pirate thing and leave the princess for my daughter. We can get some matching pjs and t shirts!

Oh and hot topic has some really fun Disney themed sun dresses I think I will indulge myself with one of those!!!

Our nearly 50-year-old 6-4 son dresses like Jack Sparrow with such detail that, during the last cruise, people stopped him in the hallways for pictures and when he came near the photo op area (JS wasn't there yet) a line started to form. Some adults, or very old children, take their dressing up quite seriously.

I did a mini-Buzz Lightyear costume to meet Woody on my Alaskan cruise. White long sleeve compression shirt with inflatable space wings, purple head cap, plastic "laser" cuffs. We had some cute photo op poses. My table mates and I dressed as pirates for Parrot Cay (there wasn't a Pirate theme night), wore paper crowns and princess pins for the Princess theme dinner, and dressed in blue for our Frozen theme night dinner. we were a fun group. I saw a family dressed as trolls for the Frozen night.

That's awesome. Did he do the pictures? Also, did any CMs say anything to him?

I've seen passengers dress up like characters (particularly Captain Jack Sparrow) and I personally like to dress up in full pirate costume as well. I've received lots of great comments from passengers and crew and even posed with families for pictures. My next Disney Cruise will be during Halloween so I definitely have a special costume in addition to my pirate costume for that cruise. I think DCL is less restrictive than the parks when it comes to costumes so I say if you want to do it you go right ahead and enjoy yourself.
