Adults and character interaction!

The character meals are a great way to see a lot of the characters. They also have a lot of them throughout the day in front of the Sorcerer's Hat in MGM. I've waited on a few lines to get pictures with some of them. I'm also a bit shy when trying to meet some of them. I've had little kids cut in front of me I guess because their parents don't think that other Adults might want a picture or an autograph. I usually have a stuffed Stitch that I dress up & take to the Parks with me now. I've been thinking of having him get the autographs. I won't tell you what Pluto did to him the last time we ate breakfast at O'hanas.

In my experiences, I've had characters interact just as much with me as with kids. Usually I try to just meet them and get quick photos so that kids behind me can have more time, but most times they're still very playful and gladly pose for photos, sign autographs and such.

at Chef Mickeys for breakfast, chip and dale were fooling around with my hair and with my husband, maybe even more that they interacted with my boys. It was so much fun. The characters would actually put themselves beside my husband and pose so I would take a picture. Disney rocks!

Ooh trust me. I see as many adults as kids visit the characters. So you will be just fine.

I just got back yesterday and me and my friends each filled an autograph book and had to start using the backs of the pages for more! We love to interact with the characters. I think I enjoy the non face characters better. I have had some of the face characters make us feel bad about getting photos. Like we are too old or something and we should know better.

We just had a great time with Mary Poppins. She asked where we were from. When we told her, she said she used to be a "nanny" right near our home town. We took that to mean that she went to school up here. But it was cute because obviously they can't break character. Chip and Dale are great. They give kisses and hugs and fight over you. They are a blast! I had King Louie try to pull me away from my friends and take me into the cast member door at animal kingdom - that was funny! There are so many great opportunities to have with the characters. Have fun and take lots of pictures, not just the posed one. Try to take candids while getting autographs. those sometimes come out even better than the posed shot.

Dh and I (both 26 ) love meeting and greeting with the characters. We smile. We laugh. We play with them, and we always make sure we get our picture taken with them. I've been doing this since I was a child at WDW and I see no reason to change now that I am adult. So I decided on DH first trip to the World that I would introduce him to all the Disney magic. And boy did he get it. He even got an autograph book! Interaction with the characters is a key element of our Disney trips. We wouldn't have it any other way. Don't be shy. Release that inner child. You know you want to!!!

During our last trip, 2 of our 3 kids didn't want anything to do with the characters up close. In the Character Connection we let our youngest son get his picture taken and DW and I got our pictures taken also. The other two kids just sat in the stroller and waited. I wanted my picture taken with Mickey and got it. Don't worry about it being just for kids. After all, it brings out the kid in all of us.

My DW and I are 21 and 24 respectively and we love the character interaction. We got big reactions by calling chip dale and dale chip, (also tell them you would take a chipmunk over a mouse anyday) I told minnie she was "a hottie" and I got extra kisses, my wife asked daisey how she got away with shopping so much and she said (mimed) shhhhh don't tell tell Donald, and my all time favorite was when we went to the Diamond Horseshoe or whatever to meet woody. Well he was there with Jesse at the time and when it was our turn I said HEYYY WOODY and HEYYY UMMM whats your name again. Well Jesse doubled over in the floor crying. After several minutes of covering her eyes and really putting on a show she signed her name and underlined like 20 times. I will NEVER forget that! The CM attendant that was with them said that they never "stalled" that long before. I felt bad for the kids in line, but I couldn't get Jesse out of the floor.

I never felt like the characters minded us being big kids at all. However, we got glares from a few children's parents at times, but 95% of people didn't seem to care about our age.

I have a great time with the characters. I have never noticed them treat me any different because I am an adult. In fact, I have a great picture of Tigger kissing my neck. Apparently he was feeling a little frisky that day!

Oh my, meeting the characters is one of my MOST favorite things to do! Half my pictures from this trip are me and the characters! When I was there in June I stood in the pouring rain in order to meet The Little Mermaid, and when I took my rain poncho off to take a picture, she asked me what the "thingamabob" was! Everytime I saw a character I got in line for a picture! My friend told Jasmine that I was nervous to meet her since I told her I felt kind of embarassed meeting the "human" characters. She stayed right in character and made some funny comment. I really WAS embarrased then! ha! Have fun on your trip!

Don't worry about it! The characters love meeting adults! They are fantastic at their jobs and really love the chance to interact with anyone who is really into it. We had fantastic interaction especially with Captain Hook! I asked him if my friend Gina could be his first mate and Hook indicated that Smee was his first mate and that Gina stunk! It was soooo much fun!

My cousin is a Character and he assures me that characters love adults! He says that as performers they really are energized by interacting with enthusiastic guests of all ages. He told me of dancing with a lady and "dipping" her during their dance (he was being goofy!) he said that she then "dipped" him...it really made his day! He loved her enthusiasm. Don't be shy!

Have fun! Don't be shy and the characters won't be, either. We're all kids at heart (although sometimes we forget -- thank goodness Disney is here to remind us!)

I've noticed the handlers are a little less likely to steer characters toward adults, but if you show your enthusiasm the characters are quick to respond.

We've done a few character things this time (2 over-30 ladies) and it's been so much fun. In fact, Pluto from Chef Mickey's and I have a little thing goin' on...

I love having my pix taken with the characters! It's just a given that every trip we take we always have our photos taken with Mickey & Minnie at their houses and whomever else we may run into!

Go and have fun! Everyone is a kid while in a Disney park!

DH 45 and myself, 39 goes looking for character interaction every time we go. Sometimes with kids sometimes without. We got matching Eeyore tattoos a few years back for our anniversary. (Thats dedication!) Last trip, I stood in line for an hour for a picture with Eeyore. The characters seem to enjoy it too!

The best character interaction we had was the first year we went by ourselves before our daughter was born. We went in the tent (Toontoon) to visit Pooh, Tigger and friends. Tigger made my husband go stand in the corner facing the wall so he could then propose to me and take a photo with just him and I. It was funny!

With the kids, the characters seem so focused on getting the book autographed and getting through the line but with adults they seem to play around more.

It occurs to me after some thought...that some of the characters more or less MUST be geared towrds the adults. I mean how much exposure do today's kids get to characters like Chip and Dale? Until the recent release of Mickey's Clubhouse, there weren't even that many opportunities for young kids to see Mickey and friends, at least not in terms of recent releases. There have been SOME, but not a ton. Then there are older cartoons, like the Jungle book. It was released on video a few years ago, but if you didn't buy it during the narrow window when it was out...But many adults saw it when they were kids.
