I am addicted and have been to WDW 14 times since 1992 :o but always with young children. We are going again with the three 4,10,13 in August but I just got a chance for a 2 DAY quick trip with my mom only ( shes going to a library conference I'm going to see the mouse:smooth: ) ANYWAY I really can't imaginw what things to do without kids like I always spend hours in line for Dumbo and Pooh :hyper: SO I need tips of grown up things to do and see. Thanks!

Hi Minnimama,

Right now you are in the main pages for "theme park attractions and strategies".

If you go back to the mainpage (home) of the disboards, go down on the left side to the link for "Adults and Solo Traveler's", there will probably be alot more assistance there for your specific needs.

Have fun!

Lemme tell ya,
From our experience, going with adults alone can be a LOT more enjoyable than bringing a bunch of kids. Please don't get me wrong, there is nothing more precious than a smile of a child when he/she sees they're favorite character but it will be a HUGE load off of your chest. There are plenty of guides in the bookstores that can help you with this. I went with my girlfriend last christmas and we did whatever we wanted and was pretty much carefree...besides the christmas rush. So you will enjoy your time! Just be carefree and whatever you want to do...DO IT! 'Course, most of all, soak in all of the magic as possible. After all, there is still that child in you.

If you have any questions, just PM me and I'll help in any way I can.

Have Fun and Good Luck!

I asked the same question after taking my kids with me for 10 yrs.
I was going without them for a week in February. I thought I would feel guilty once I was there. But needless to say I had a great time and I am going back in August with them. It was quite relaxing without them, especially the 17 hr drive!:earseek:

I haven't done Disney with just adults since DH and I were in our 20's. Back then it was just the MK and EPCOT. Boy, would I like to try it again soon!

My advise would be to plan more sitdown meals, take a backstage tour that the little ones are not allowed on and make spa appointments.

I would plan to sleep in and stay up late. Perhaps a long-overdue trip to Pleasure Island would be in the works.

And shopping! A full day devoted to nothing but shopping in DTD.

Enjoy your adult excursion Minnimama. A few of my favorite activities when at WDW alone or with my lovely bride are:

1. Sunset at the California Grill. They have comfy chairs by the west windows, where you can share a bottle of good wine and watch the sun go down and the lights of the MK come up. Very civilized.

2. An evening at the Adventurer's Club. Arrive a bit before 8 and stay as long as you like. Skits take place 2 or 3 times an hour, and there is ongoing improvisational interaction between CM's and the new "members." Kungaloosh!

3. Sitting in the hot tub in the quiet pool area. Avoid the active pools, go straight to the quiet pool, and you're likely to have the tub to yourself.

4. A nice dinner. Make a PS at one of the good restaurants (Spoodles, Narcosees, California Grill, Flying Fish, and if you want to splurge Victoria and Alberts). Warning, this will ruin Disney mass-dining forever for you.

5. An evening stroll through the Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island, Westside complex. Shop, eat, relax, and enjoy.

In the words of Julie Andrews, "these are a few of my favorite things." Have fun.

What?
Come on - I drag DH onto Pooh, Peter Pan, and snow-white every trip! he HATES when I drag him to Fantasyland (aka - gridlock)...but we still do it.

We don't have children (yet), but we have throughouly enjoyed our trips to disney together...we like to smile at the cute kids, and thank god that they aren't ours when they are throwing a fit on main street. heheheh

Plus - mini-golf goes so much faster w/o kids! hehehe

Definetly check out some of the more 'upscale' restaraunts WDW offers!

We have done two adults only trips to WDW and a couple to Disneyland and I love it!! Its so different. I did miss having my kids there but I discovered a whole new way to tour. We are naturally early risers so we did early breakfast, then early park touring. We still did the rest in the afternoon/pool thing because my husabnd has Muscular Dystrophy and its very important to get some down time. Also we like to stay out late and still get up early the next day so the afternoon rest was very important.

Some things that you will see different is the pace. You wont be toting little ones so you will move faster. Also imagine going to the Who Wants to be a Millionair game without kids. Take in all the shows because they will take on new meaning to adults only. We got to see Cirque Solei my last trip and try Disneyquest. That place is a mecca for adults. Even mature ones like mom. She will laugh so hard at the ranger spin. My husband has MD as I stated earlier and he does most attracvtoins there except the build a roller coaster and that has nothing to do with his MD> We arent hard players just paced and fun.

You mentioned you only have a couple days. If that is the case I would deffinetly do shows in the parks as a high pririty. Skip most of Fantasyland because that is well done with the kids. I imagine if you go to shows like Hall of Presidents in MK and American Adventure in Epcot with the kids they get pretty bored right? Now you will get to actually enjoy the shows.

Good lUck

It is so nice to do Disney as an adult. I did a 10 day solo tour last year and it was fantastic. I got up when I wanted, did exactly what I wanted when I wanted to do it. I rode what I loved 10 times in a row. I was in the hot tub and pool everyday. I did several different shopping tours including shopping around the monorail resorts, the boardwalk area and Downtown Disney. I also agree with the different backstage tours of the various parks, spa appointments or just general enjoyment of the various different activities you can rent (watermice, bicycles, horseback riding, parasailing). Do resort tours. Pick a resort that you've never stayed at and walk the grounds, have lunch and decide if you would like to stay there in the future (I've done this several times). If your there on a Thurs, Fri or Sat. take the boat from DTD to POR and have a drink in the lounge and watch "Bob" the entertainer (he really is a lot of fun). Take in some time at AKL and watch the animals from the general areas. Pick places that you've never eaten at go eat there. Have tea at the Grand Floridian. Try the Trail's End Buffet in Fort Wilderness. Have a wonderful fun day at one of the waterparks (float down the lazy river several times, really relaxing). Go to the show at DTD or Cirque Du Soilel (sp?). Best of all, go to Epcot and really experience the whole walk around World Showcase. Take your time, listen to the bands, look at the different structures of the buildings, get a gelato and watch the living statue in Italy. Take in a bit of the nightlife at Boardwalk and DTD. Sit on the beach at the poly and watch Wishes and wait for the water parade. Point is, there are a ton of things to do, pick those that you'll love and enjoy taking it at your own speed.

DH and I travel as two adults all the time.

There are a lot of wonderful tours you can take. Are you into gardening? They have one about the gardens at Epcot! We just did the Segway tour and it was a blast!

How about an afternoon of High Tea at the Grand Floridian?

What about a beach day at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach - without the kids you can just glide in the lazy river all you want.

Don't forget some shopping time in Downtown Disney.

My all time favorite thing to do is just walk around Epcot and enjoy it. Stop for one of the street performances, view the movies, shop in the stores. You will see so much more without the kids needing attention. Plan a nice lunch or dinner there as well - you have some great places to choose from.

Enjoy your Mother/Daughter trip. I wish I could go with my Mom again!

Riding the rides adult only is a different experience. You have been to WDW before. Is there something you saw you wanted to do or do differently when you were with the kids? Do it. I like going to MK when it opens and ride Dumbo, Peter Pan, Snow White and Pooh. This can be done in like 30 mins or so. Then head to somewhere else you might like. You can go exploring in the shops at EPCOT or any other park at your pace. DTD window shopping or any of the theme parks. You can always sit a bit and people watch. One of my favorites is closed right now. I use to get a table overlooking Its a Small World and wave at all the boats. It is fun seeing everyone react. Some of us like getting our picture taken with caracters. Go get a meal you want that the family does not. There is so much at WDW for you to try. You know your likes and dislikes. Just go for it and definately take a break in the afternoon. Go to the pool or take a nap or just take off your shoes and stretch out and relax. You will more energy and fun that way.
