So, what we going to be a slightly nightmarish trip with me, DH, my mum and my MIL is now likely to be just me and my Mum visiting WDW in 2017. Probably 14 nights, though maybe a 10 night trip, depending on how things work out.

Any tips for a really great trip with my Mum? We'll be 31/57, and sharing a room. Thinking either CSR or maybe a DVC resort, depending on the offers we get for free dining over here in the UK.

It'll be my Mum's first visit to the USA, and her first ever Disney trip anywhere (we've never done DLP).

Any Mum and Daughter experience to hear about would be lovely! :D

First, I would make sure your mom can handle the walking. The average guest will go 6 miles a day. Fortunately, this is not constant walking, but it's a lot of walking if you are not use to it. If this becomes difficult then rent a scooter for her. If you can go without a scooter for your mom make sure you alternate rides with shows and eats. That way you get a rest at the shows and when you are eating. Try to minimize the walking by not backtracking too much. Use fastpass plus as much as possible.

Get your mom the free DVD about Disney World and let her get a taste of it all at home. Show her show of the rides by viewing u-tube. If your mom has a medical condition make sure it's okay to do the ride. If she likes to read get her a few, current books about Disney World.

Try to come during a special time like the Flower and Garden Show or the Food and Wine Festival or when the Christmas celebration starts which is usually Thanksgiving week and thereafter.

Spend time taking plenty of pictures. Don't be shy and do pictures with the characters, too. Get the memory maker if you can afford it.

Again, if you can afford it do a spa treatment day together. Consider doing one of the special park tours.

Don't overdo. Ask your mom is she needs a break to take a nap in the afternoon and then come back to the parks at night.

Don't rush through meals; enjoy each other's company. Make sure you make advance table service restaurant reservations. If she has travelled then pick restaurants that are from the places she has been.

Give your mom a lot of hugs and kisses. I lost mine a few years ago and I was lucky enough to have some trips to Disney World with her.

She'll only be 57!! She doesn't drive, walks everywhere normally and has more stamina than I do!! She would regularly walk more than 6 miles in her normal day, as her workplace is around 2 miles from here home. :)

They won't ship the DVD to the UK sadly, but I'll show her it on YouTube. We did a theme park together this year, so I have a really good idea of what rides she'll like. No medical conditions to worry about thankfully.

As I work in a school, we're tied to school holidays, but last two weeks in August are a good time for us.

I'm hoping they'll bundle MM with our tickets again, but if not it's on my list! :)

My mom and I do mother/daughter trips to Disney all the time and are the exact same ages as you and your mom! (Well we are 30 and 56 but really close). My mom has to have at least one table service meal every day. I ended up having to make last minute dining reservations while at the food and wine festival because even though we had eaten all day long, she didn't feel like she had eaten a meal! We also always take at least one or two mornings/afternoons to spend at the pool. Going in August you may want to head to the parks early then spend the humid afternoons lying by the pool. My mom also rides everything with me! We get memory maker and have a blast finding all the photographers! Our last trip my mom also took a day at the spa while I met a local friend. She had a great time. We have stayed at Coronado Springs, Port Orleans Riverside, and Beach Club. Beach Club was our favorite, but we liked Coronado Springs as well. It had a great pool and really good bus service. You will have such a great time!

Hi BudgieMama, I did a Mother/Daughter trip with my daughter last year for her 21st Birthday. Granted, we are slightly different ages but it was a really enjoyable experience. I would suggest that you try and rent DVC points for a stay at an Epcot resort as it really is a lovely area.

I wrote a trip report, if you are interested in reading it (link in my signature - Me and My Girl) :)

My mom (54) and I (24 at the time) went in April 2015. We stayed about a week total - the first 3 days were with my grandparents (late 70s) and we had to push them around in wheelchairs. When it was just me and my mom, we had a blast! So much fun. We went on so many rides, ate good food, and met characters. It was really a great bonding experience. We shared a room at Pop Century.

I did a mother-2 daughter trip with my mom and sister a couple years ago. We shared a room at the Swan during for a quickie 4 night trip-- it was amazing. Because we were so close to the Boardwalk, we spent one night hamming it up at Jelly Rolls and Atlantic Dance Hall, topped off with some splurging on room service when we got back. We walked to Epcot and HS each morning. We still talk about how fun it was to run through the World just the three of us. You will have a blast. Plan out your time, but let the pixie dust come to you and it surely will. Enjoy!:mickeybar

I've been doing father/daughter adult trips the last year or two and we love it so much more.

We've been doing moderates and value just to try out the other resorts and save some money so we can stay longer and spend more money on other things. We aren't huge table service people and 90% of the time, we just find a place near where we are when we are hungry but still sprinkle in a few ADRs. Generally we do the 4 parks the first 4 days and try to get 1 table service in each park. Then we'll do a day or two focused more on resort options for food or entertainment, disney springs, etc.. Then we just go where the day takes us and do the rest unplanned. We do sprinkle in fastpasses and most of the time they line up where we end up going that day..

We've also been trying to time it for somethign we've never seen or done.. Food and Wine, Halloween, Christmas, Garden show, or one of the many long weekends that have some interesting themes happening. When we weren't stuck to summer for school schedules, WDW became a whole new place for us.. We've loved seeing the special events/seasonal options...

Also since your there for 10-14 days, consider a tour if that interests you. We try to take in 1 tour per trip if the budget allows and never been disappointed.

We've enjoyed it so much, and started to go so much more often that we've already started planning (and packing/dehording) to move to orlando next year...

I'm 58 and my daughter is 26. We love our Mother/Daughter trips! Last November we stayed at Coronado Springs and it was great for adults.

An awesome day trip is Discovery Cove! A good break from Disney and the crowds.

took my mother to WDW for years. That say early (despite her and other family members) I brought DVC. best investment ever. So we went before DVC one sometimes twice a year - after DVC at least 4 to 7 times a year.

you did not say (that I read) your ages? Mother after she was in her 70's really needed a wheelchair but kept refusing. I had knee surgery and the only way the doctor would allow me to go would be in a wheelchair. So I got one - she ended up in it - because pushing it helped my knee more than riding in it. after that she no longer fought the wheelchair and our trips improved.

I'm 50 and my DD is 25 and we just got back from doing 10 days over Halloween and we had a fantastic time. The first 3 days my sister & BIL were there for their first time, it was so fun to show them around, but once they left, we had a blast really enjoying the parks. Because of the time of year we were able to do the Food & Wine festival and also the Halloween party which did have lots of activities. However given your tie to the school year, you might be able to swing a spring trip to the Flower & Garden festival which I hear is also a blast. I love going on adult trips when there are more than just the usual attractions. Doing the seminars & luncheons are lots of fun too! The tours and shows at the other parks can also be fun to new people and makes it less childlike if you can do one that is over 18 only. Enjoy your trip!

I'd love a Spring trip, but we only get a week in February, and Easter is a no go (we'd be back and forth to Church a bit too often to make it worth it, plus no recovery time from the jet lag) so we are stuck with the end of August... no worries about that though. DH and I enjoyed the end of August last year, and we coped with the heat well, so I'm sure Mum will be fine! :D She's tougher than me!

Different ages (43 and 12) but I took my DD on a last minute trip in May 2014. Usually I go for 15 to 20 days with DH, DS and DD. This trip was just 9 nights just the two of us. Great trip we had the absolute best time ever and it was long enough as we can go commando type A to our hearts content without the boys!!!! We stayed at AKL and I have to say it was the perfect choice. Beautiful resort with the nice deluxe perks but a decent enough QS place at the hotel. I wouldn't have felt safe at a moderate (outside doors) with just the two of us although don't mind them when it's the four of us. We enjoyed a TS most days but also cancelled a few. We don't eat as much as the boys do! We did some of the 24 hour event at the MK too, that was fab. I highly recommend a mother daughter trip. My DH and DS went skiing instead which I hate so they were happy enough too ;)

Mom & I have done a few girl's trips. We have so much fun. Sometimes we just laugh & laugh & laugh (being overtired & overloaded on sugar probably contributes to that lol). It's good memories & times I will always treasure. We do 4-5 days & really cram a lot in, but it works for us. I think Dad got jealous hearing about our trips so he wanted his 70th bday celebration down there!

Since you are there for so long you don't have to go at a crazy speed & you will be able to do tons!! Try some restaurants & food places. Check out a tour maybe? I really want to try Keys to the Kingdom.

I'm doing a mother daughter trip this coming January. I'll be 31 and Mom will be 57. We'll actually leave for WDW just after her birthday! I've only been once for a school trip to the Disney Institute when I was 13 and Mom has only been to DL (last time being when she was 18). We travel together a lot but mostly on cruises so this will be a change.

I'm the planner and she lets me run with it so everyone is happy :)

We're already planning a rest day mid trip. I think it will help us get more done on our 6 park days.

We've both had a bad couple of years with some family issues and Mom is a year out recovering from a broken ankle so we really need this vacation!
