Adult meal for child?

We are heading to Disney in 2 days and have the dining plan. My DS9 limes to order an adult meal sometimes. Can we do that on DDP and pay an upgrade fee on a per meal basis? Or will he be stuck eating kids meals?

Sorry, but no. Kids must order from the kid's menu where one is available, and they won't let you upgrade per meal. If you had asked the question a little earlier, you might have been able to upgrade him to an adult and pay for an adult dining plan for him, but with only two days to go, there might be an additional cost just to change your package.

Bummer. I didn't want to upgrade him entirely, because at buffets it is better to pay for him as a child. Fortunately, we are only going to a couple places where this could be an issue. He'll just have to live with it and enjoy his chicken tenders while I eat steak.

You could always try to ask for a kids' sized version of an adult meal if he wants to avoid cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets constantly. Not sure the restaurant will do it, but it's worth a shot.

Have you looked at the menus of the places you will be eating at? I can't recall exactly where but some of the Mickey Check kids meals did include options like steak or salmon.

We aged DD up at 8 and 9. She is as much of a foodie as we are, and she would have been miserable eating kids food all week while we enjoyed our dinner. The kids meals, even when they include steak or salmon, are rarely palatable. They are poorly seasoned or not seasoned at all, and of low quality. If you have a kid that enjoyed food that is well seasoned or any kind of variety they will not be happy with WDW kids meals. We don't do a lot of buffet meals so that wasn't a help to us.
