We're going on a kid-free weekend getaway for dh's birthday. I'm trying to find a good place to take him for his b-day dinner. We've already tried California Grille and Victoria & Albert's. Both are excellent, but I wanted to try something new. Any suggestions?

We like Jiko at AKL, Artist Point at WL and Yachtman's Steakhouse at the Yacht & Beach Club.

Shoes99 hit my best suggestions. I'd also include Bistro de Paris and Flying Fish.

1) There are no "adults only" eateries in WDW.
2) However, there are some "adults mostly" eateries.
3) These are the ones that do not accept DDP
. . . Shula's
. . . Todd English
. . . Bistro de Paris
. . . Victoria & Albert's

* Since they can't chow down and get meals under DDP, people with kids tend to skip these. There might be a few kids in these eateries, but you will see usually better behaved kids as their parents tend to be more responsible for their kids.

Thanks for the suggestions! We're not concerned about kids being at the restaurants, we're just not bringing our kids. It's a Mommy and Daddy weekend. :thumbsup2

Jiko had the fewest children of any of the restaurants that we went to (we also dined late). It was calm, quiet, & elegant.

Raglan Road was quite fun, and we were "placed" in an area with other families and kids (we were dining with our 12 yo). Sit at the bar, no kids should be there!

Jiko is our very favorite. I can't go to Disney without a trip to Jiko. It is not however, ammune to selfish adults with cranky children. We had a toddler who appeared to be about 18 months whine and cry his way through our meal in October (we dined at 7:30). His parents kept taking him out and then bringing him back in to have him whine and cry some more so they would take him out again. After about the sixth time of the people at the table next to us first trying to quiet the child and then trompsing out of the restaurant I was getting a little irratated. I mean come on, if it didn't work the 5th time what made them think it would work the 6th time

I have to laugh at this because we had a similar (and even worse) experience at Jiko. We went there last January for our anniversary. I thought it would be a nice quiet, romantic place for our anniversary dinner. Boy, was I wrong! We were seated at one of those tables where one side is a long bench that people at other tables are also seated along. Next to us was a family with two children about 4 and 6 years old. They were completely out of control. They were jumping up and down on the bench so that I kept bouncing through my entire meal. They literally climbed the wall behind the bench, were hanging off it like monkeys and reached up to take food off the plates of the people on the upper level (with absolutely no reaction from their parents about this BTW). Then the Mom decided it was time for a family sing-along! It was so unbelievable it almost got funny (almost). Several times the waiter looked like he wanted to say something, but was perhaps constrained by rules somehow. I mean, I know it's Disney and all about the kids, but come on!

On the other hand, the food was great!:)

We heard wonderful things about Jiko and thought it would be a nice place for my DH and I to go on our night out just the two of us. It all depends on what type of food you like. Unfortunately, my DH has the taste for steak and potatoes and Jiko only had one item on the menu that was actually beef and it was the most expensive item on the menu. While he enjoyed the steak it was not that impressive. I also was not impressed with my meal as well. Our meal came to about $80 with tip (and we don't drink) for the two of us. We understand that Disney is pricey but this was a little bit of a sticker shock for our first night out on the town.

I realize that a lot of people enjoyed this place and I could see how it could be enjoyable if you are adventerous in your eating habits but I wanted to put in a different perspective.

Actually any of the Signatures would be good. My choice would be Jiko, Citricos or the Blue Zoo. Il MUlino would also be good if Italian food is of interest.

DebDisney: I believe the servers are--as you put it-"constrained" from saying anything in a situation like that. The manager might have been able to say something, but not likely. ALways remember, Disney will usually do nothing to curb the behavior of a guest who is just "having fun". Even if that "fun" is at the expense of others. We saw a somewhat similar situation at Jiko where a bunch of kids at a table with oblivious adults were throwing small bits of food at other tables. We pointed it out to our server--he simply shook his head and said " We're told we exist just for THEM "(as he pointed to the kids).

Yachtsman Steakhouse or CA Grill are usually our choices when we dine without our kids.

Also, while we dine here with our kids every trip, we also like to go to ESPN when we are there without them. Its nice to sit at the bar, have a few drinks and appetizers, and watch a game. Its a different experience with and without the kids. ;)

If you're not using the DDE, and money it not an issue, I would suggest Bluezoo. You'll probably find the least amount of kids there. I would also suggest the chefs counter at the FF and Artist Point.
