Adult Behavior

If you've selected a Disney vacation for the family values they stand for and feel that entitles you to a sheltered environment for your kids, that would mean you would be open to same sex couples being able to enjoy their vacation without having to behave differently than opposite sex couples?
Personally, I don't care what other peoples views are about nudity and same sex couples. Everyone should be practicising good behaviour. For those who don't know better, that means that displays of nudity, drunkeness or of overly sexual behaviour from anyone, gay or straight, in public are inappropriate in this setting. If people absolutely cannot refrain, then perhaps a non-family oriented cruise would be better for them.

Well, this was unacceptable to his wife who decided to scream at the top of her lungs "you are a good for nothing' blankety blank blank blank, you never help you censored censored creep...blah, blah, blah". This woman then proceeded to throw a major tantrum as we all quietly rode down the escalator. Then our children, bright eyed and dazed asked us why that woman was so mad. My DH whispered quietly to me, "If 7 days of magic doesn't do it, maybe it is time to give up" Seriously, who talks like that after a trip of a lifetime? :confused3

Exactly! It constantly amazes me that people do not understand that when they do things such as this, they only make a horses rear end of themselves because everyone around them will instantly feel sympathy for the person they are yelling at and they themselves will look like the bad guy in the scenario. Making a scene will only draw the wrong kind of response from those around you. Granted, most of the time, the person creating the scene does not particularly care what others around them think, at that particular moment, but if they saw themselves on camera, they would be embarassed. No one looks good when they are ranting and raving like a lunatic. It's yet another example of showing a lack of respect for others around you. No one wants to be involved in the private squabbles of another family.
If it were me and my family couldn't refrain from adult tantrums and other obnoxious behaviours, I would either skip the trip altogether or go alone.

LuvThatMouse, in case I'm one of those that might not know better, please clarify for me (with a simple yes or no if thats possible). Would it be good behavior for 2 men, wearing swim trunks, drinking soda, to be walking around the Mickey Pool holding hands and smiling romantically at each other?

Your attempt to ask a trick question and then expect a simplistic answer will be met with the following reply.
The answer is "no" and "yes" and a simple yes or no is not possible. First of all, unless they have a child who is swimming in the Mickey Pool, they don't belong there any more than children belong at the adult pool. My comment was about inappropriate sexual behaviour. Holding hands isn't sexual. People hold hands with their children, their parents, their grandparents, their friends, all the time. It's just holding hands.

Friendly reminder...this is getting off-topic again.

Ok I have a funny story... This isn't BAD adult behavior... Just FUNNY adult behavior...

We took my grandparents on their first ever cruise this past summer. I would just like to add real quick that they have never really been outside of Maryland in about 40 years!!! So to them this was like the greatest thing EVER... Well my grandfather made it a point to have his picture taken with EVERY CHARACTER!!! It was so funny because everyone was sitting at the pool in lounge chairs drinking and he JUMPED up and goes: BELLE'S GOING TO BE IN THE LOBBY IN 15 MINUTES!!! WHO's COMING WITH ME?!?! And we'd all just stare at him like: You're kidding right? And then he'd run off and get his picture taken. Then the night at PALOs the Cinderella mice walked past the restaurant and my grandpa yelled for them to come in. The waiter told him that no characters had ever gone inside PALOs, but my grandpa insisted they come in, so they came in and he got his picture with them and soon enough there was a long line of adults!!! :rotfl: He's got his picture with every character on that boat! He even danced disco with Daisy on the pool deck one day!!! :rotfl: I have tons of pictures from our trip. As soon as I can get yahoo photos to cooperate I'll post the link.

Ann-e-mator:

He sounds like a treasure! I hope I live to be old enough to be somebody's funny grandfather enjoying Disney like that.

It sounds like your grandfather really knows how to live. I surely hope I will be that fun when I am older. Never miss a moment to have fun. Who cares what others think if you aren't hurting anyone.

What great memories and photos you will have and can pass down for generations!!

Ann-e-mator:I did the same thing as your grandfather on my last cruise except instead of people laughing they gave my friends and I dirty looks. I think it was because instead of old men we were teens. It was some of the most fun i've ever had in my life though. We wrote down when and where the charcters were going to be and carried it with us. We also had the photo takers in the atrium take pictures of us and they loved it. One actually told us we were the most fun people she had taken picutres of all time.

I'm sorry i know this is off topic.

ann-e-mator: Your grandfather sounds so awesome! That is such a cute, funny story!

When I was a Damn Yankee living in Conyers, PC Beach was referred to as Little Atlanta.

Conyers, GA??? That's where I live...I'm another transplanted Yankee.

By the way, it's winter break here next week, and many of my daughter's friends are heading to FL for vacation...yup, they are all going to Panama City!

I'm reminded of two VERY good looking mothers in itty bitty string bikini's with thongs at the Mickey Pool. They stick out in my brain because post-pregnancy, I am ever doomed to a one peice and I wondered how you ever get everything to look like that again! For Europeans, these two had very nice Texas accents.

Rome may be somewhat more diverse than some Romans believe it to be.

OK- I may have to don my flameproof suit here. But as I go back to the top to check the title of this thread to ensure that I am sticking to the topic, I have a question.

Does anyone else think it a little funny that grown adults come to the required early morning immigration appearance wearing only their PJ's?

I know that it is a major inconvenience to get up and dressed so early- especially after staying up late the night before- but is it too much to ask that people throw on some sweats and at least brush their teeth and hair before we have to all crowd together so closely in the theater?

We saw everything from lo-cut pajama bottoms with thongs showing (or maybe not even thongs! :rotfl: ) and cami tops with no bras (on ladies who definitely need them and believe me I know of what I speak personally!) to boxer shorts on men (hello those are underwear!) and tons of bare feet and smelly breath + major bedhead!

Fortunately for my husband, the lady that was dressed rather indecently in front of us did have a pretty good body- even after having the three children that were with her- because sitting above her we saw it all- and yes and I do mean everything except the point where her body actually connected with the seat!! :confused3

On another funny side, we also saw a grown man wearing Sponge Bob fuzzy slippers- I wouldn't think that he would want to waste the packing space to bring the huge things but to each their own! :teeth:

Unless they were topless they were still conforming to the standards of the environment they were in. So, I guess "Rome" really isn't as diverse as some would like to think.

Re: Mickeyfanmom's post :earseek: My mickey ears are burning  I went to embarkation w/ day clothes on. What's considered daywear and nightware have blurred these past few years. I guess I'll get my flameproof suit on too and stand w/ you.

Your grandfather looks like a person who enjoys having fun. I'm glad he did. I hope you wern't embarrased by him, but proud instead. I would be. From your pics it looks like every one had a great time! ;)

Packing my warmup suit for that morning meeting as we speak. I may have to bring a brown paper bag as well because this face is not one that should be seen in public first thing in the morning, sans make up.

Good for Him!!! I confess...I have to get my pic with all the characters as well....it drives my kids crazy (21, 20, 16)....I have more pics with me and the characters than the kids and the characters.....I make sure I get as many pics as I can....just love them!!!
