I'm now a SAHM and was thinking of finding a child to care for during the day to earn some extra money.

What kind of ad should I write and where do you think would be the best place to post it?

Personally, I think you'd be better off telling EVERYONE (and I mean everyone) you know that you are looking to care for a child. Networking could be key here. I don't think I would ever hire a sitter from an ad, either in a paper, or posted up on public bulletin board, but I would definitely at least call someone who knows a friend of a friend if I were looking for a sitter. KWIM?

We found the girl who watches DS for us sometimes through my hairdresser's daughter. She's a local college freshman, has a car, and is just a good fit for us right now.

go to enannysource.com We were recently looking for a nanny and we found someone here. The parents looking for a nanny pay to use the sight...for those offering services, its free. You place an ad, then you can contact families, and families contact you. We are really happy with the person we found there, and it was a great tool.

Before you start advertising it would be wise to check into your state laws about child care. In some states it is illegal to have children in your care (as in a daycare) unless you have a license or you are a relative. It would be wise to find this out before you start advertising.

Good luck.
