Ads are horrendous!

I switch to the Brave browser recently, which is like a more privacy-minded version of Chrome. I don't see the ads.

I agree, it's become impossible to read on my phone because the ads are so big. They also seem to re-size themselves occasionally. My eyes get really cranky when the block of text I'm reading just moves. I particularly like (sarcasm here) the one of the woman's face with this weird mouth "colored" & shaped lips in her mouth holding her mouth open. Great stuff. THAT doesn't make anyone walking by ask questions or anything. I run adblocker on my PC (Sorry DIS, but the ads are SO intrusive it doesn't feel safe to not block them) and see very few, if any.

Can we have a subscriber option that is ad free?

My ad blockers don't work on my mobile devices (tablet nor phone, both android). Adblockers work great on PCs.

I use Chrome on all devices.
I downloaded Free Adblocker Browser and use that as my primary one on my android. I did that when the DIS via mobile (I was using Chrome) was having so many issues a few years back

I don't mind the regular print type ads, I don't like the video ones or ones that keep changing and reloading.

You have to disable the video autoplay in your browser settings. Most videos shouldn't start playing until you click on them to start.

I use AdBlockPlus for Firefox and have never had an issue on this site or any other. I don't disable my adblocker for *any* site, especially not a site where the ads are very in your face and annoying. I use a PC.
My ad blocker is working. I don't see any

Me too.

The only problem I have now on this site is that the smilies search box is disabled. I can't input any words, like "tree" and have it look for smilies that I know are there. :(

I got a pop-up box a few months ago asking what type of cookies for this site I will allow. I clicked on only the functional cookies. And ever since then, no smilie search. But, adding on any other cookies allowed ad junk. :p

I couldn't stop the ads on my Android with Adblock Plus with Chrome. I did some reading on it and they claimed the adblocker had to be part of the browser to work. So I would have needed to change browsers and I just didn't want to do that for one site.

Now that I have an iphone, Adblock Plus is working great with Safari.

Adblock Plus continues to work great on my PC.

I am using a PC when I am on the DIS , with ad blocker and still getting them. Not so much on my android Galaxy--I currently have 8 ads showing on this page, 2 huge and the rest smaller. I have also sent a PM to webmasters corey and pete, just to let them know that it is happening again. Had stopped for quite awhile, now they are back with a vengeance :(

You can have more than one browser on your phone. I have Firefox and Chrome. I rarely use Chrome though.

On my phone on Firefox, I have AdGuard Adblocker. It was one of the suggested adblockers in the Firefox Add-on page. My phone looks like my PC (which has AdblockPlus,) and has no more ads.

I know. I just didn't want to mess with it. And it's not an issue for me. I didn't change phones for it, that happened in a game of family phone shuffle. ;)

I never use my phone to view this site, nothing here is that time sensitive. I can wait until the next time I am home and use my PC. Have some sort of adblock on my PC and never see the ads others are talking about so I guess it works well.

Are you using it on an Android based phone? Just curious so I know whether to give it a shot or not because Chrome on my phone is filled with ads here.

No sure what I am doing but I have never had ads like that ever in 18 years on these boards. Someone suggested it was because I was using a computer not a phone or device. With 64 year old eyes, I NEED by 17 inch computer monitor to see anything!

No problem here on my iPhone. I don’t have adblock either. I remember a year ago it was a problem i got adblocker. This phone I had it since October no problem here. Our computer stopped working so no idea how it does on a computer.

I use Pihole which covers every device on the network, no need to install anything on devices. Very simple to set up if you have some basic level of technology skills. Granted it doesn’t work when off the home network, but I hardly use the interest when away from the home For it to matter.
