Alright we are planning our Honeymoon for WDW and I am under strict instruction to not overplan this trip! This is very difficult for me to do! Am I making a huge mistake by not making ADR's for this trip. I have heard that it is not hard to get into resturants when you only have a party of 2. Any thoughts.....

what are the dates of your honeymoon? depending on the time of year will make a huge difference. definitely make the must do's; that way you will not be disappointed. we always make them no matter the time of year. i would much rather have an ADR and not need it,than need one and can't get it. you can always cancel.

I agree that it would be a good idea to make at least a few ADR's, especially for places where you really want to eat - you can always cancel while you're there if you change your minds, but better safe than sorry!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

:sunny:

I have planned a solo trip in September and have made ADRs for the resteraunts that I want.

Congratulations!!! So, it looks like you'll be getting married mid to late October. This is usually a pretty slow(?!) time of year at WDW!!

IMHO, slow or not, I WOULD advise anybody to make their ADR's, at the very least!! I don't think that would be construed as 'over-planning'. Ever since Disney came out with the Dining Plan, it has been harder and harder to just 'walk-in' most restaurants! Dining is a BIG think at WDW!! You don't have to 'micro-manage' your Honeymoon, just (A) - figure out which places you want to eat (B) - decide on a 'loose schedule' and (C) - based on their locations, figure out which meals best fit with your schedule. The way I do it looks something like:

Tues - MK (am), Epcot (PM)

Crystal Palace (B) @ 8:30 am, MK (9:30am - 12:30pm)
Resort afternoon break (1:30pm - 4:30pm)
Epcot - (5:00pm - 9:30pm) - Le Cellier (D) @ 7:00pm

I think you would find that a 'loose sched.' will allow total flexability and peace of mind for you just by knowing WHERE you will eat each night.

Hope you have a fabulous holiday!

With so many more people eating at table service restaurants due to the dining plan, I really think it's a good idea to have a few ADR's no matter what your party size or when you're going. Especially on your honeymoon, you don't want to end up eating only counter service or wasting a lot of time trying to find a restaurant where you can get in.

It's not over-planning when you are doing something that could make a huge difference in how much you enjoy your trip. And having ADR's for the places you really want to eat can make a huge difference. You can always cancel them if they don't work for you once you get there.

I think I will make a few ADR's I have been doing tons of menu research and so forth. We are going Feb 3-8 which is a slow time right before president's day and spring break season but after all the college students go back to school.

Just an FYI-- I just made my ADR's (YAY YAY YAY!) :hyper: for our disneymoon Oct 2-8 and they were BOOKED for most of our trip.... we really had to compromise our schedule to get to the restaurants we wanted (especially the castle for dinner). I was told that it's because of the Not So Scary Halloween Party going on during October. So, if anyone is going in October and you have restaurants that you really want to go to... book now! In most cases, the worst that will happen is.....nothing! :rotfl:

I see that you're not going until Feb... don't know how things are then.... I just wanted to note that early October seems to be pretty full at the most desirable restaurants in case anyone hasn't made reservations yet!! ::yes::

Lots of people are reporting even during traditional slow times having difficulty getting into restaurants due to the popularity of the dining plan. Also keep in mind different parts of the country have different school vacations. I would make an ADR for a dinner each day and if your plans change cancel it, that way you have something to fall back on. Especially if you want to eat at somewhere really special like V & A or the castle. Congrats!! :bride: :groom: :cloud9:

Over-planning or not, I would try to make ADRs, especially for the special places. These will be special memories!

pirate: We are going the last week in October, and I was able to get all of our ADR's. October can be a tricky month. Last year, we were there during Columbus Day week. The parks were very busy. Remember, some of the schools have a fall break. I posted a message about fall break for this year, and I received a lot of replies that the fall breaks are around the end of September to the middle of October. Hopefully we'll avoid any crowds during the last week in October. :thumbsup2

Make the ADRs...don't think of it as overplanning. Think of it as insurance that you will be able to eat somewhere you enjoy if you so choose! If you don't make the ADRs you may end up waiting for a LONG time or even turned away. The dining plan is so popular now!

If you decide not to eat at a particular restuarant just notify the front desk and they will take care of cancelling it for you! Better safe than sorry!

Have fun!!!!
