Table Service Meal: Happily Ever After Dinner at the 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort we've never done...I've read good and bad reviews over the last couple of weeks

Our thoughts in red.

I think for your party and your plans you did great.

I know H&V does get mixed reviews - so if you go in with low expectations, you will be pleasantly surprised. Its a buffet - it has a variety of salads, and foods to appeal to lots of people - since its our first adr - I wouldnt worry it or overthink it!

It may be hard for you to leave MK your first day to head over to DTD -- but you have another MK day planned, so it will be a great break!! Check the menus out at mousesavers.com - as well as looking over some of the dining reviews here (I usually check in the first page of the reports and many many kind Dis'ers have a table of contents - from what I've seen Raglan Road looks great!)

Animal Kingdom - should be do-able to leave early enough to get to Chef Mickey-s

truly keep in mind - a bad meal in disney - You're still in Disney! :wizard::wizard:

Are you renting a car or relying on the busses? If you are renting a car, it shouldn't be too bad. Hollywood and Vine I would never go back to, either. We had the worst meal ever there.
My other thought is will you be ready to leave on your first day at Magic Kingdom to go downtown for dinner? Maybe Chef Mickey's (if available) would be an easier /better /closer choice. You can just hop the monorail from the MK to CM.
Other than that, I think it should work out ok.:thumbsup2 Enjoy your trip!

We just got back and I would suggest that you do Donald's Safari breakfast the day you go to Animal Kingdom.
Get an 8am ressie, and you'll be first in line to do the safari as it's right outside the door.
In addition to really good food, the character interaction was great, as the characters come into the room and go table to table for autographs and pictures.
We had Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. Goofy led the kids through a dance around the room, and a good time was had by all.

We also went to Raglan Road. Our thoughts- those that had Salmon LOVED it. I had fish and chips and it was so-so. The others had beef stew and said it was very tasty, but it was a pretty small portion.
Hope that helps a little:)

How long does it take to get from the Magic Kingdom to Downtown Disney with the busses? We're driving to Disney World so I'll have my van, but I was planning on using the busses.

I'm starting to worry about the Hollywood & Vine and Boatwrights choices. We didn't want to leave DHS on Saturday because I'm a Star Wars fan and want to spend the whole day there. Would you suggest 50's prime time cafe or sci-fi over Hollywood and Vine? I was also thinking about Whispering Canyon Cafe for replacing Boatwrights. Any suggestions? I may not be able to get anything now because we are 70 days away, but I can try.

Saturday, June 6: Hollywood Studios

Table Service Meal: Hollywood & Vine - not impressed (try Prime Time or Sci-Fi unless the kids must have these characters)

Sunday, June 7: Magic Kingdom

Table Service Meal: Raglan Road, Downtown Disney - never tried

Monday, June 8: Animal Kingdom

Table Service Meal: Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary Resort - good choice! Be sure to plan enough travel time in here!

Tuesday, June 9: Epcot

Table Service Meal: 1/2 party going to Le Cellier
others are going to Chip & Dales Harvest Feast - Both good choices - Le Cellier best in the parks!

Wednesday, June 10: Hollywood Studios
Table Service Meal: Boatwrights at Port Orleans - never tried

Thursday, June 11: Epcot

Table Service Meal: Coral Reef - skip! Good atmosphere, plan extra time for bad service and plan on mediocre seafood at best.

Friday, June 12: Magic Kingdom

Table Service Meal: Happily Ever After Dinner at the 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort - food is amazing have the bread pudding! great character interaction, Mary Poppins breakfast is good here too.

Hope this helps - comments above.

Like others have mentioned, I've heard really bad things about Hollywood and Vine but have never tried it myself.

I personally wouldn't end my trip with 1900 Park Fare. We did the dinner on our trip in Jan and it was horrible. The only edible thing for me was the broccoli, salad and French bread. Mashed potatoes were like glue (maybe had been sitting too long), pasta was gross in both looks and taste, rice was all stuck together, chicken had mushrooms which I don't like. Somehow they messed up mac & cheese, it was very runny and grainy in texture. Even the cheesecake wasn't good...it wasn't even sweet. My FIL did say the prime rib was excellent and DH concurred. I personally don't like it. If you can make a meal out of prime rib then you might like it.

The characters are great though! It's nice to have a guaranteed place to see and interact w/ Cinderella for a lower cost.

My favorites at DHS are Sci-Fi & Mama Melrose and as for Whispering Canyon, it has mixed reviews, but I personally loved it! Especially in a big group!

Sorry didn't read all the posts before I posted:)

All of us (6 in all) liked 50s PTC except for DH and that's because of what he ordered. He had never had fried chicken before and decided to try it and just didn't like it. MIL, 2 Nieces and I all had it though and loved it. Seriously it was the best fried chicken I'd ever had, the potatoes and green beans were yummy too! FIL polished off his pot roast pretty quickly so I'm assuming he liked it. :) I think that would be a good choice.

We also really liked Mama Melrose, no one complained at that meal, which is a victory in and of itself.

Have a great trip!!

We ate at 50s Prime Time last week and had a good meal.
Me- the fried chicken. It was good but messy to eat so I would not get it again. I wish I had the chicken pot pie.
DH and DS- meatloaf. Both thought it was really tasty.
DDIL- chicken caesar salad- she said it was very good
DD- Burger- she thought it was great

I would go back unless we did counter service.
We were happy we did 11:30 lunch as we were very hungry by then, and the line was so long when we left!
