I'll apologise now if this is a silly question, but will l need to book ADRs for somewhere like Rainforest Cafe at DTD in sept? :confused3

We're thinking of going there on our first full day of our holiday, after a day at TL. Traveling with 2 younger kids 5 and 2 so not sure if they'll be too tired and dont want to book ADR if we end up not going. Would be happy to wait for a table within reason.

Will be doing ADRs for rest of the stay, just the start of the trip l'm unsure about.

Good news. i just had a look, and you can book through walt disney world website, along with all your other reservations

You can book through Disney dining reservations BUT a lot of the restaurants at DTD like Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex that are not on the DDP, do not take reservations after 5 pm. They try and keep most evenings free for walk ups.

During busy times, I've seen the line to get to the podium to even put your name in for a table get really long (30-40 minutes) at T-Rex. I don't remember it being nearly as bad for Rainforest. Other places like Fulton's and Cap'n Jacks had last minute availability when we there around Christmas. You can make reservations through the Disney dining system, but your options will be limited. For T-Rex and I think Rainforest you can call the restaurant directly and they usually have more availability, especially closer to the dining date. We had a T-Rex reservation fot 7:00PM.

Another option might be a CS like Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich if you didn't want to make an ADR. If you want a sit-down meal, I'd recommend getting an ADR. :)

Thank you all for your replies.

We'd be looking at somewhere around 6pm for dinner so sounds like that might rule out booking 180 days in advance. As Rainforest Cafe is somewhere we definitely want to eat, l think it might be best for me to get an ADR for the one at AK for the day we spend there. Atleast then l'll know we wont be disapointed :)

May risk a walk in for DTD for another restaurant. Although Earl of Sandwich sounds yummy so that might be an option!

we went to Trex and even though there was a long wait there is the digging area for kids and had a chance to look around the restaurant and I took kids to Lego store (close) while he waited. When they called us the kids were digging and didnt want to leave to go eat after the 1.5 hrs wait!
