ADRs for Breakfast at Kona?

Is it necessary to make ADRs for breakfast at Kona? Our plan is to go one Sunday in June (so I realize Sunday may be a bit more popular) before our day at MK. Right now pretty much everything from 7:30-10:00am is open.

We're travelling with a 15-month old -- as much as I'd like to get a jump on the day, I also want to allow us some room to play-it-by-ear to accommodate DD's schedule. If she needs to sleep a little longer (after a full travel day) to keep her happy, then I'd rather do that if we can. It's hard to say how late she will (or won't) sleep -- which makes it hard to make breakfast ressies.

Also -- We're staying at a different resort. Is it best/easiest to take the bus to MK and then monorail back over to Poly?

TIA!

I was actually wondering the same thing! DH and I went to Kona Cafe around 8:30 during the week off peak and we had an ADR and didn't need one. There were more empty tables than filled ones. Around 9, things got a little busier but still had empty tables.

In terms of transportation, we took the bus from Pop to MK and then hopped the monorail to Poly. It was an easy trip.

1. Just make the ADR. No credit card guarantee needed. Worst case you don't show up-no flames please. I would make it a bit later than you expect to get there-perhaps you can be seated early. Just bring some snacks for the kid just in case.

2. What is the resort at which you are staying?

Thanks! I'm really tempted to just wing it. If DD wakes up early, then we'll head over early. If she sleeps a little later, then we'll start our day when she's ready -- I feel like that will make the rest of the day go much smoother!

Our DD, by the way, was born a year almost-to-the-day before yours! It's gone by so fast! When do you think you'll take her to WDW? DH had a business trip in Orlando last fall, so DD & I went with (she was 7 months at the time). We stayed off property, but made it over to MK for a day after his conference was over. It was a much slower-paced park day than I'm used to, but I have a feeling that will be our new normal. She did great!!! I'm hoping this trip at 15 months will be just as smooth.

We're going back to WDW for my 30th birthday without her next year (she's going to stay with grandma and grandpa for a couple nights while we got and eat entirely too much). Mommy is too excited to go race people to Toy Story Mania one more time without kiddies. DH and I thought it would be a good idea to go when she's 4 (I went when I was 3 and I don't remember a darn thing!) Happy late birthday to your little princess! Hopefully you will have a great time with her this time!

1. It's not that I'm against making an ADR -- we have them for other meals. I just don't know what time to pick. I like the idea of choosing something just a bit later than our best guess, though, on the off-chance they could seat us early.

2. We're either staying at AoA or POR. We have only been talking about taking this trip for a couple of weeks. DH asked what I wanted for my birthday next month, and of course my answer was "a trip to WDW." It's my standard answer, and usually a joke. But, because of the summer discounts, and because it's a "big" birthday, we're making it a reality. :cheer2: Anyway, we are still trying to narrow down between those two. We'll probably book this weekend.

I agree with the others that although you probably could get into Kona for breakfast without an ADR I favor making one. As mentioned, you won't be penalized if you aren't able to make your time period. We have arrived as much as 30 minutes early and been seated within 5 minutes. When staying at another resort we allow 90 minutes for Disney transportation and from POR this past February we needed almost that whole amount of time! We waited about 40 minutes to get on a bus headed to MK that had room for the 2 of us. We've been lucky getting the resort boat that does a circuit from MK to GF to Poly and back to MK etc. It departs from a dock right by the ramp up to the monorail. Timing is everything for getting that boat. If you see people just starting to board or if you see the boat approaching the MK dock that is good timing. If your daughter is just in an easily foldable stroller the boat would be an option from MK.
