ADRs - better to make them on-line or on the phone?

I ask because I will be out of town on my day to make ressies. I could take my laptop and make them from the hotel or call from my cell to make the important ones (i.e. Cinderella castle). I've only ever done them by the phone, but curious as to how the online works.

Any opinions? Oh, my trip is in October, so I think I could probably wait a day and still get most of what I want?

I heard that you can do the onlines 1 hour before the phones open. Is that true as well?

I personally prefer the online reservations. I find them more convenient and can see more alternatives. The online allows me to play around more with different options for different days. Plus online emails me a confirmation which the phone reservations never did.

Problem with online is that I've seen multiple posts where users report problems connecting, getting cut off before they are finished making reservations, etc.
Sounds like they still have a few "bugs" to work out----

I prefer the online as well. I had always done them on the phone and was frustrated with the lack of confirmation on paper. I want something I can show the CMs if they can't find my reservation - which has happened in the past but luckily I had my personal print out. As someone else mentioned, it also allows you to see the options and to be honest it's much faster. Just avoiding the time on hold is a bonus for me! :thumbsup2

Online is more convenient. But if you have to book a Fantasmic Package, you would still have to call (as far as I know).

Online is great - it officially opens at 6 am (although in the past folks have gotten ADRs as early as 3 am on their day. The phones don't open until 7.

I find online (even on dialup) to be great - I can make the reservations and print out the confirmation info. It's easy to do and I don't have to sit on hold (which I dislike!).

I made our December ADR"S in October on-line and did not have any problems. Maybe I just got lucky, who knows. I really enjoyed being able to see and do my ADR's myself.

Online is the way to go. You don't have to give all your information AGAIN to the CM's and wait for them to pull up your account, etc. You can just jump in and see what you can get first before hassling with any of that. I always hated calling and going thru 20's to be told that no they still didn't have Le Cellier available for my dates.

I did the online ADR's for the first time last night. It worked ok but took me some time to figure it out.

It's faster for me to call but I did like seeing options myself.

I definitely like booking my reservations online. I like being able to see what's available for myself and being able to play around with the times and dates. Someone else mentioned a lot of people having problems with bugs with the online system. I haven't personally had any trouble, but I go ahead and finalize each of my reservations as I make them rather than having several waiting in my cart. That way I don't have to worry about a bug or accidentally letting them time out while I look around. :)

What about for places that need to secure the ADR with a credit car? Do they have a section to enter that info in?

Yes they do. I don't have a Disney resort reservation as I'm staying at Dolphin so I'm not sure it works to link it to that, but it's like buying anything online: You select an item (restaurant), give some details (dates, times), they'll show you if they have it or times near it, you select what you want and add it to your cart, then "checkout" by adding your cc info if necessary.

Like someone above said, I would suggest checking out one by one to make sure you get the times you want at one restaurant before looking for another. It is held in your cart for 20 minutes or so, but if your system crashes or whatever before you check out you would lose it.

I much prefer the online version to the phone!

I am so excited to do the online reservations in March for our Sept. trip. They sound so much easier. I too always hated not being given alternatives whenever I called.

I like online much better than on the phone. I've not had many issues at all with online and it's much easier to find what I want than dealing with a CM on the phone.

I prefer phone as I have an xls of what I want with back up options and so it is faster to do it on the phone for me.

:confused:Wow...I feel so clueless. I didn't know that you could make ADRs online. Could someone please tell me where to go to do this? I would LOVE this option!

Thanks!
