Ok, these are the ADR's that I have made for our trip from 5/29-6/5 for 2 adults and 2 kids (4 & 7):

Tues 5/30 - Crystal Palace for dinner. We are celebrating my DS 4th Birthday.

Wed 5/31 - None. We are going to AK that day. Any recommendations on cs at AK?

Thurs 6/1 - Sci-Fi for lunch and Fantasmic dinner at Hollywood & Vine for dinner. I have read mixed reviews about Sci-Fi. I am contemplating just doing cs for lunch and saving my ts for another ADR????

Fri 6/2 - Tony's Town Square. I am not totally sold on this one, however we can't get into Chef Micky's until 9pm...way to late. Any other suggestions for the ts restuarants in or around MK? We are going to spend the morning/afternoon at the CBR and then head to MK in the evening so we are really flexible.

Sat 6/3 - Rose & Crown for dinner.

Sun 6/4 - 'Ohana's character breakfast and 1900 Park Fare for character dinner.

We didn't book our vacation until about 2 weeks ago, so many of the ADR's I wanted were booked or really early or really late.

Any suggestions or experiences (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated...especially about Tony's Town Square and Sci-Fi.

For cs at AK, we've done Pizzafari and Donald's Restaurantasaurus. Pizzafari has, of course, individual pizzas and a really good Italian sub. Donald's R has grilled burgers and a toppings bar and McDonald's fries. They also have McD's chicken nugget Happy Meals. My son did inform me, though, that they were the "old" chicken nuggets--I guess not all white meat. Sci-Fi is great for lunch. We tried Tony's on our last trip and really wanted to like it, but it was just okay. The service was awful. Liberty Tree Tavern is good and has characters. Also, eating in the castle is a great experience. I think Cinderella is always there. I do think it is a little on the expensive side. I've heard some people on these boards will leave MK and eat at a monorail resort restaurant like O'Hanas or Chef Mickeys. We really enjoyed the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge--it may be a little much for a four-year old, though. Have a great trip!

we're trying tony's for the first time, so i have no advice there... we dined at sci-fi last year and considered it the biggest waste of TS credits, even free ones!

my suggestion would be to skip sci fi and maybe go somewhere on your AK night (since AK tends to close early) like Hoop Dee Doo Revue (but that's two TS credits, so you'd either have to pay for one out of pocket or cancel another as well)... your kids are at GREAT ages for it!

i've heard great things about whispering canyon at the wilderness lodge, which is only a boat ride away from the MK :)

Here are my opinions on what you have...

Crystal Palace is excellent, everyone will love it.

At AK, they have two great CS places - Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ. There's also the less popular Pizzafari which gets mixed reviews. However, you should definitely check out the menus at allearsnet.com before going to Tusker House or Flame Tree BBQ so you can pick out something ahead of time.

Don't cancel Sci-Fi, the atmosphere is amazing, your children will LOVE it. The food is so delicious also. Try the Spinich and Artichoke dip - also they have the best milkshakes I have EVER tasted! :D As for Hollywood & Vine, I've been hearing the worst reviews on that lately.. you may want to change that one.

There has been bad reviews for Tony's Town Square, however I love it - they have good, fresh pasta. That's what I had anyhow, and it was great. But if you want to try something else, how about Whispering Canyon Cafe dinner? That's near the MK, also Kona Cafe dinner is great.

Rose & Crown - awesome fish n chips, great atmosphere.. good choice.

I haven't had breakfast at Ohana but I really want to, and 1900 Park Fare dinner is amazing. Incredible food and the GF is just wonderful. You should order some desserts since you are going to be at a GF restaurant.

Hope I helped.. any questions just ask! :)

AK has the best CS in all of Disney, in my opinion. I think my favorite is Tusker House, I love the fried chicken sandwich. However I also like Flame Trees ribs, and most recently we ate for the first time at Pizzafari and it was good. We added side salads to our lunch and that together with the pizza was a good lunch.
We ate at H & V 3 weeks ago and it was the worst meal of our trip. I will not return. The only good things on the buffet were the salads and the mashed potatoes. The Flank Steak tasted "funny". There is a good dessert area. It was noisy, dirty, crowded and just plain not good.
Have a great trip.

When you go to the AK for a CS place to eat, go to the Tusker House, good food for CS.

We really liked the SCi FI for lunch. We had the open faced steak sandwich, and it was really good. It wasn't V&A's kind of food, but the steak was tender and cooked the way we asked. The girls had nornal kid stuff, chicken strips I think? If you havn't tried the Sci Fi at least once you need to try it for yourself and see.

You might want to try the Plaza Resturant in the MK. Nothing fancy, but they do make good sandwiches and burgers. Better than CS burgers. Check out Allears.net for a menu for dinner, and see if there is something you like. Good luck.

We will be there the same time you are May 28th-June 3rd. :thumbsup2
SEE YA THERE :teeth:

We liked Tusker House in AK for good CS, as lots of people have already noted.

Tony's in MK is mediocre in atmosphere. When we went hoping to find the Lady and the Tramp restaurant (DH LOVES that movie), we were underwhelmed. The food was decent, and our waiter was attentive, but we didn't love the food. You could monorail over to Kona or take the boat to Whispering Canyon instead. I think you'd be happier at either spot.

Cape May Cafe (Beach Club)
Spoodles (Boardwalk)
Beaches and Cream (even though they don't do adrs)
Sci-Fi/Primetime lunch at MGM
Kona Cafe
Ohana
ESPN
Columbia (if you want to drive to Celebration)
Fulton's (Downtown Disney)
Boatwright's for Breakfast

Don't eat at Grand Floridian, Nine Dragons, Cinderella's Royal Table (formerly King Stephen's Court), Flying Fish :wizard:

As many have already noted the AK has serveral great choices for CS. Like others we enjoy both Flame Tree and Tusker House. The Pizza at Pizzafari was ok but the salad was awful - it was so wilted I took it back and asked for a replacement - the manager appologized, corrected the situation, and discarded several more salads that seemed to be past their time.

Tonys seems to be very inconsistent. We had an ok experience at Hollywood and Vine but the quality of the food was not nearly as good as any other buffets. I think the food is better when they are very busy - it doesn't have time to sit.

I will tell you that our single worst meal we ever ate was at the Sci-Fi Drive In. They crammed the three of us into a car seat for 2 (DD was 6 at the time). Our server was awful (slow, incorrect drinks, etc) and food arrived cold (I feel he was responsbile for that). They were having cooling problems in the restaurant that day (it was about 85 inside) and the manager seemed to careless when I asked to speak to him about our server - we have never been back (that was in 2001). I can tell you their food is not good when served cold. The atmosphere was interesting (the movie clips) but it could not makeup for everything else.

You should keep trying for Chef Mickeys (cancellations do happen). You are already doing both Crystal Place and 1900 PF for dinner (we like both of these). We have found both the food and character interaction to be very good at these 2 meals.

Other suggestions are the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge, Kona Cafe in the Poly, or maybe the Liberty Tree Tavern.

I did change the Tony's ADR to the Whispering Canyon instead. My kids will like that much better. I had never even thought of that restaurant. I also just upgraded our resort to the CR (from the CBR) so we will be closer to MK and it will be very convenient to go there.

I still can't decide on Sci-Fi. Now that we are staying at the CR, I think that I am going to try and get into Chef Mickey's that morning for breakfast instead of doing Sci-Fi.

Thanks for all the suggestions...keep them coming.

When we do AK we go to the AKL and eat at Boma's but this May we are going over to the Boardwalk and eating at Spoodles. I have heard so much about it, also Cape May at the Beach/club is delicious. You will get out of AK at a early hour so think about taking the bus to one of the resorts and eating there. That is why we go the the AKL to stay in the theme of the day and then tour the resort. Boma's has prime rib on the buffet along with the their foods if you have a pickey eater and a childrens buffet. They have a delicious breakfast buffet too.
