ADR System Upgrade - History

FYI, although the oft-linked PS Caculator is nice, its a bit clunky in my eyes. So I've written what is at the moment a simpler (and hopefully clearer) ADR calculator. Give it a try and PM me if you have any suggestions or comments.

I've written it so that exceptions (such as the current CRT/V&A/CM June 19th exception) would be easy to incorporate, either as a note or an actual calculator.

You can get to it on my site linked below or more directly here.

:worship: GREAT calculator! Thanks! :goodvibes

i'm on hold right now. i called 407-WDW-DINE like it says on the site and like i did 2 years ago, immediately got thru to only be transferred to another number. now i just had an answer and the lady said she may not be able to help me without a reservation number which i don't know that i have from my travel agent. :confused3

If you are 90 days out, you don't have to have a reservation number to make an adr for one day...only if you do the 90+10. I would call back to get the ones for 90 days from today. Not everyone stays on WDW property.

Thanks to Tricia1972 for pointing out that I was listing the wrong date in the +10 side of things...that is now fixed. I've also highlighted the dates a bit better to make them stand out.

So, day one of calling, Monday, was a disaster - took 45 minutes + to make one ADR (Hoop Dee Doo).

Found out they're no longer honoring +10 for Swan/Dolphin guests, so I've been calling daily.

Yesterday was a nightmare - was on hold for 64 minutes before I finally got through (dialed in at 7:15 - had to get the kids in the car for school!!), got a decent time for the Plaza for a party of 9, but couldn't get ANYTHING before 4:30 pm for BBB at MK. 4:30!!!! I'll keep checking back - that late in the afternoon seems a bit like a waste, but I'm the beggars-can't-be-choosers camp now.

Today was better, but still not great. Took over 35 minutes to get the Fantasmic reservation at Brown Derby. The CM had to reset her system three times, BD wasn't showing up as a Fantasmic package, and overall, was just slow slow slow.

Another thing that I'm noticing is that as soon as I say we are staying at the Dolphin, there is a noticeable change in demeanor from the CMs. Two of the four I've interacted with in the last three days flat out told me, and I'm quoting, "This would be easier if you were staying at one of the Disney resorts, Ma'am." One tried the hard sell on the dining plan :headache: and none of the four have exuded ANY magical, friendly, Disney-like attitudes.

If this were my first experience with Disney? I would be even more disappointed than I am. I know they can do better than this, you know?

I mean, my CM today said "Ok, is there anything else I can help you with now?" and when I said no, that should do it for today, thanked her for her time she just disconnected me! No "Goodbye", no "Have a magical day", NOTHING. Please, my 6 year old has better phone manners than that.

I've never dreaded calling Disney before for anything, but this has been brutal. I'm left feeling like I've just trudged through dreary experiences, not called the most magical place on earth!!!

I just heard this a couple of days ago. Apparently this confirms it.

Anyone know if it is true of SoG as well?

Counterpoint. I had the total opposite experience today.

I started dialing right at 7am Eastern, listening to all the prompts, still got dumped into the old system. Within 2 mins someone picked up and transferred me. I was talking to someone on the new system 10 mins after that.

She was very nice, took all my information, we worked through everything. We had mixed numbers of people for several of our reservations and it went very smoothly. I only had one issue where the system switched out one of the restaurants but it was easily fixed.

She was nice enough to go in and double check Fantasmic Dining Packages to see if they had added 50's Prime Time for the nights we were there, they didn't :(.

Just as I was about to say thank you and hang up she mentioned that she could setup other things so I ask about an Illuminations cruise, thinking there was no way at this point. Sure enough it was available, so I booked it. I'd decided to give up the possibility but having it available was fate or something.

Great experience. I think I like the new system, it seems like it keeps from having the same old questions asked for every single reservation. I wish they could shoot you an email of all your reservations when the process was done but that is not that big of a deal.

Glad you had a good experience. Maybe you can rub off some of your good luck onto IrenicMom. I really like your idea about emailing you the confirmation numbers. If you frequent any (and I do mean ANY - feel like I ALWAYS have to sign in for something on their pages) of Disney's websites, isn't as if Disney doesn't have your email address, so it should be pretty simple to do this.

Don't want to steal the tread but just read where you said Fantasmic Dining Package for 50's Prime Time? I haven't heard talk of this. Is this something in the plans?

Ok, so I want to clarify where things stand for me. We are staying at the Dolphin in June. I am not allowed to call 90 days before we check in? I have to call 90 days before the day we actually want the ADR? And if we want ADRs for more than one day, I have to call 90 days before each of those days?

I just want to make sure I have things straight. Thanks!

Yes, you'll call 90 days before you want the adr, and you'll have to call every day that you want an adr.

Yes, MamaGoose, exactly what CharacterFan said - you have to call 90 days from EACH day that you want an ADR. In this regard, they treat Swan/Dolphin guests the same as off property guests/day guests.

The problem is that the new system requires the resort reservation field to be populated by a Disney-generated reservation number in order to release the dates up to 10 days beyond the 90 day limit. There is no over-ride available to the reservation CMs. In the old system, these dates were never technically "locked", and as long as you gave the CM your reservation number, they would help you schedule your +10 events.

Doc - as far as whether or not it affects SoG - I guess that depends on how reservations are made there. Are they made through Disney, and issued a Disney confirmation number? Or, are they made with SoG directly? If the latter, I would imagine it will be the same as Swan/Dolphin.

Herkemer - I'm actually thrilled to hear that you had a great experience! It gives me hope - LOL!!! I have four more days to call. I am keeping a positive mindset - surely I'll come across a happy and helpful CM, right? I refuse to give up my "Disney folks are the best customer service folks on the planet" mindset; I've seen too many fabulous things to believe otherwise!! Sounds like you struck the jackpot this morning, congratulations!!

I'm sorry I've come across as such a sourpuss these last few days. I realize you guys don't know me, and I've been a real downer. I'm sorry. I mostly wanted to vent because most of my friends and family think I speak Greek when it comes to this, and thus, don't understand.

But, I also wanted to share my experience to see if:
1. There was something I was doing wrong (other than not calling at exactly 7 the first two days, which I know is entirely my own fault)
or
2. This was just the new state of affairs

Tomorrow will be better, I know it!!

I scheduled my ADR's today and it was a breeze. I called right at 7, got right through with no wait. We scheduled my first 4 then the computer lost them, so we had to do them again. I was all done with 5 reservations around 7:20. Then at 8:30 I realized I had 2 days switched and had to call back to fix them. :headache: Again, no wait, right through to a CM and they were about the same time as before.

There is no Fantasmic at 50's.....possibly why it was not available for the other poster???

I see from the sticky that online reservations were possibly due to start 2nd March - has that happened?

Wondering if anyone knows if they have put the new reservation system on the back burner? When I originally called for my ADRs that were after May 26, they had to transfer me to someone on the new system, and they took my reservation number and I got a longer confirmation number. The last few days when I have called in for ressies past May 26, they have just used my phone number and given me a regular confirmation number. :confused3
Anyone know why?
