ADR System Upgrade - History

Another crazy question:scared: , since CRT is so hard to get when I call next monday for adrs in my 90+10 window can I go straight to trying for CRT which is in the window or do I have to start with the adr of the day checking in? Thanks again and I promise last question.

You can do them in any order, so tackle CRT first.

However, don't be surprised if CRT is not available. If it isn't, call back at the exact 90 day point. Only a few of the table seatings are available prior to the actual 90 day mark.

This may have already been posted - BUT online reservations has to be coming soon.
I just noticed on their website for some restaurants a link that says "Book a reservation" and a link - unfortunately the link brings up a 404 page not found. My test restaurant was California Grill

This is really exciting

This may have already been posted - BUT online reservations has to be coming soon.

Given that the new 'a la carte' reservations system only has dates loaded into it starting from 26th May, unless they decide to preload any earlier dates in the meantime I would be very surprised if the online system is launched much before then. It would seem odd to launch a new system that won't allow you to look for imminent dates as well as post May 26 dates. And if they did preload the earlier dates, they'd also have to copy all of the existing bookings over from the current system, which sounds like a lot of extra work.

I wsa told I could only make my reservation(ARD, is thats what its called?)
90 days in advance of my visit..I was told this was done to make things more equitable....

I think it may be better...because when I waited before making my reservations last year...there were no openings- ie dinner at 10 PM
..I think alot of people " overbook" which just aint right! so I think this is good IMO

I know when this started people were reporting horrible wait times...........is this still the case or is it much easier to get through now?
The tough one we want is V+A (not Chefs table)...........have most people been successful getting this at the 90 day +10 mark?

I don't know about Victoria and Albert's...but I've been on the phone waiting for 40 minutes so far....I hope my phone battery doesn't run out. It sure is hard to keep the faith and stay on the line!

Good luck with your V&A reservation!

Oh god! You poor thing! I hope you get what you want, I'll keep everything crossed for you!
It never used to be difficult to get through, why is this new system causing so many headaches?!!!:headache:
Any sign of on-line reservations becoming a reality?

I'm trying to make reservations before I have to pick up my son for Church... this trip is a surprise trip and he can't hear me!! He spent the night with his best buddy last night.

I have a huge plan... scavenger hunt on the day that school ends... he and his best buddy will think we are going to Great Wolf Lodge and the final clue will lead them to their Disney Dollars (spending money), Disney Planning Guides with our itinerary laid out... and our plane tickets to Orlando for the very next morning!!!

HELP!! Please answer!!!!
:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Well I had to wait for 52 minutes this morning and then it took about 40 minutes to make 5 days of reservations. Of course CRT was not available for lunch - I will try back at the exact 90 day (not 90 + 10) mark to see if that
frees something up. The only other surprise (well not getting CRT wasn't actually a surprise:) ) was not being able to reserve the San Angel Inn in Mexico - I knew the ride was being refurbished but I didn't know the restaurant was going to be closed. Oh well, we filled that in with the Coral Reef, which we've never been to. I was a bit nervous at the end of the call when the CM said "Oh, I forgot to check off something. Let's see. (silence) I'll never do that again. (silence) Ok, we're ok now". For a minute I thought she had lost everything and we were going to have to start over. But all is well. It was MUCH scarier on the phone than it sounds in print!

So my adrs took a total of 1 hour 30 minutes on the phone - battery didn't quit and we will be able to eat our way through the parks next June.

Good luck to all on your calls!

ps. my reservation numbers are all 12 digits and start with 3907, fyi

I'm staying on property for 7 nights. Do I have to call in every morning for 7 days? Or once one day of my reservation hits 90 days, can I make the full 7 days worth of reservations?

Thanks!

You can call one time at your 90 day mark from your check-in date and make all of your reservations for all 7 days. (I'm assuming you are not staying at the swan/dolphin/shades of green)

But be ready to wait. Some people have waited on the phone for more than an hour. :scared1:

Okay, so maybe I am a little slow on the uptake:lmao: Go ahead and say it 'cause I've been told this before.;) But here's my question:

With the new online dining system, I will be able to log on and book my own dining reservations? Do you think they will limit the number of reservations a guest can make? I guess what I am saying is.....I've seen people post that they make a reservation at XYZ restaurant for 7:00 p.m. on 3/12/09 but then they turn around and "double book" ZYX reservation for 7:00 p.m. on 3/12/09 until they decide which restaurant they really want to dine in.

I'm thinking people would be more apt to double book (my words because I can't think of a better one) if they are doing it online than when they are talking to an actual castmember. If they are allowed to do that, wouldn't all the ADRs be taken up really quickly?

Gosh I hope I worded that right!

I hate quoting myself but am wondering if anybody can help me understand the online booking better.

Not sure that anyone knows yet what will be allowed, but previously the bookings were under phone numbers and that made it very easily to double/triple book using multiple cell phone #'s, etc. Now that they seem to be linked to reservations for onside guests (not sure about off site) - we can only hope that there will be some built in logic to avoid this.

Called yesterday morning at 7am. It took 3 hours to make 3 days of reservations - 5 reservations total. The CM kept having 'problems' and making me repeat everything. Very frustrating. We 'had' a reservation for LeCellier and some how she 'lost' it and we had to start all over and by the time she re-entered all our info the reservation was no longer available. She said to call back and keep trying. The real frustration was we were not able to make ADRs for our entire stay (we are staying on site for 7 days).

Linked reservations/resort changes be advised of ADR difficulties
We are staying at the BCV and have 2 contiguous reservations that are 'linked' together. We added on the first 2 nights to an existing reservation and they gave us a different reservation number for it and said we would just run down on the day of check out and check right back in - no changing rooms. We were asked to remind them at checkin that the reservations were 'linked'. So we have one reservation for 2 days, a second for 5 days both at the same location.

We were only allowed to make reservations for the days covered under the first reservation and told we had to call back at the 90 day mark for the check in day for the 2nd reservation and could then make ADRs for the rest of our stay. :sad2: The CM verified that we were staying on site for the full 7 days but because there was a checkin/checkout the new system would not allow her to book the rest of our ADRs. She did put us on hold and asked for help but was told the system just wouldn't let her do it. They did suggest we call reservations and see if they can 'rebook' the entire trip under one reservation but then she said, that 'might' cancel the reservations we just made :scared1:

Problem with multiple reservations on same date when people sharing a room, e.g. couples sharing a 2 bedroom villa want separate dining reservations
Also, we are in a 2 bedroom villa with family. When we tried to split up (aunt/uncle celebrating 40 yr anniversary) so that 2 people could go to one restaurant while the other 4 of us could go to another the system would not allow that either. It kept telling her a conflict existed. She had to get help making that reservation also, they added 'notes' into the system explaining we were a party of 6 and 2 people going to one reservation and 4 to another. I was told the system automatically deleted the reservation 2 times and we had to start all over. When I call on Monday I'm going to verify both reservations still exist in their system. I gave up on splitting up any other reservations and just make the rest for all 6 of us together. The CM did say they had notified 'upper management' regarding this difficulty and hopefully it would be fixed soon.

So we are patiently waiting until Monday to try again to see what reservations we can get and hopefully none of them will be lost!

I wonder if anyone can help me with the 90 day reservation system. We are staying at Disney for 20 days this August and wanted to book our dinner ressies I rang Disney today not realising that the booking times had changed and I was told that I could start booking 90 days before our check in date for 10 days of the holiday but for the next ten days I would have to ring every day, I thought this must be wrong because we are staying on property for the whole of our holiday. I understand about the first 10 days but wouldn't I be able to wait 10 days after first booking our dinner ressies and then book the second lot of 10 day ressies. Can anyone help? Idon't fancy making an international call for 10 days running.:thumbsup2

I believe what you have been told is correct, but I am not 100% sure of it. The +10 benefit only applies to the first 10 days of any stay (which probably covers a great majority of stays, but I also understand that international visitors are often on site for longer), and after that you are on equal footing with everyone else.

As I'm sure you are ware, you don't HAVE to call at 90 days - you can wait a few days and book for several days. However, there is a risk depending on the popularity of your desired restaurants. Anything that is even moderately hard to get you should probably call at the first available opportunity.

All this not delivering an acceptable level of service seems terribly un-Disney to me. Such an enormous company must have access to the best systems and system engineers that money can buy. This problem with the ADR system has been going on for months and months and doesn't seem to be improving at all. Can you imagine any other huge multi-million dollar company treating their clients this badly for so long and retaining the loyalty of its customers? It's testament to the enormous love we have for Disney that so many people are prepared to tolerate this situation so patiently but it's definitely very disappointing. What would Walt have said???

Ooooo I'm so mad!!!!!!!!
I normally call at 180+10 and have NEVER had problems getting what I want - I don't normally go to Chef Mickey's or CRT but I've gotten Le Cellier in the past no problem. But most of that is because non-Dis'ers don't start planning their meals 6 months in advance!

So today was my 90 day window...staying on property at CBR starting 6/13. First of all I started calling at 6:59 AM and I was on hold for close to 30 minutes. The CM started with my fantasmic package (she said besides CRT and Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier and the fantasmic packages are the fastest to book right now) and then we started with my arrival day wish...Sci-Fi Dine In for any time after 5. IT WAS COMPLETELY BOOKED. I understand other people could start booking last week if it was the +10 of their package....but SERIOUSLY? Sci-Fi? At 7:30 AM 90 days out?!??!

So then I try for 50s Prime Time Cafe - and it's completely booked too! I don't get it. I know it's the last weekend of Star Wars Weekends so there's going to be tons of people there. But...on the first day I could book it, at the earliest time I could book, two restaurants are fully booked?

I booked us for Mama Melrose's instead, which I personally love (we normally eat there for Fantasmic, but the kid in our group wanted Hollywood & Vine for the dining package instead). I'm just SO not loving this new system, and even worse, the 90 day time frame.

Thank goodness CRT & Chef Mickey's were 180 days still for our trip so I booked them a long time ago - my brother's fiance and her son are going to Disney for the first time and those were their two "must dos!"

:scared1: This news makes me very nervous
