Ok, sorry I haven't been around the board in a while. We just decided last minute to go to WDW 12/19 - 12/23. I called today to try and get an ADR at California Grill and was told about the prepayment required.

Does this apply to all restaurants now??? Or is it just very poplular ones. The CM told me 24 hours notice required to cancel. Does this hold true. You can't cancel same day?

I wanted to make reservations for our 1st night there, but if something should happen weatherwise with the plane or something, I won't have 24 notice to cancel.

Just needing some explanation please

Thanks

No it isn't to all restaurants. I know the same is true for CRT and 1900 a few others too, Jiko?????

My understanding is that you get charged if you do not cancell w/in 24 hrs. However, how much they charge varies. I remember one place was only a $10-20 charge. Hopefully someone w/more knowledge will post. Otherwise I would call the restaurant for their specific charges and policies.

The charge was $20 PER PERSON. $80 for 4 of us, if I can't cancel with 24 hours notice!!! Seems a little steep to me. We will definitely be there except for unforseen travel delays, but I don't know if I can risk it.

What are the chances I can get into California Grill without a reservation? the only thing available anyway was 9:40.

We have been told about the charge before and I think it will only be charged if you don't show up. That is to make sure you don't book several popular places on busy days and wait till the last minute to make a choice. We have never had a charge actually appear on the credit card.

Just to be clear, though, for CRT (specifically), it is a pre-payment, not a guarantee. It is charged at the time you book the reservation, not only if you are a no-show.

Is this just for the holiday season because we booked 1900PF for May and didn't have to prepay.

We are booked there too, for breakfast and dinner. I can't remember if cc was required for lunch, but I just did breakfast yesterday and it was not required.

They're doing it because many people will make reservations and not show up. Oh, and to the poster asking if it's for the holidays, no, it's a new CG rule and other restaurants don't do it for holidays anymore.

During the time you're going, there's really no chance of getting in without a reservation, sorry. That's the busiest time of the year, and one of the most popular restaurants.

I booked a breakfast at 1900 PF and a dinner at CP for May, and they didn't say anything about a credit card guarantee....It was my understanding that this was only for CRT and dinner shows?

They have required it for the Signatures ADRs we have made as well, the Pirate Cruise and the My Disney Princess Girl Tea Party.

Were you charged for that at the time you made the reservation? The My Disney Girl one that is.

Hm. I made ADRs for Coral Reef and Yachtsman about a week ago (for May), which I think (?) are both classified as "signature dining". They didn't say anything about a credit card. Do I need to call and check on this, or should I assume the ADRs are still valid? I have all my confirmation numbers. I'm just worried that this new policy has been instituted, and now our credit-card-less ADRs are now no longer valid. Or am I overthinking this completely? I'd like to avoid pre-payment if at all possible.
:confused3

What's the CRT? Coral Reef?
