I am planning a 6 night 7 day trip to Disney in January of 2011. I know its a bit early but as I am on a tight income figured it'd be wise to start saving now. I already have some dining in mind but need some advice for a couple. The people going are me and my daughter who will be 4 around that time. I do not drive so I will rely totally on the disney transportation. I also am planning to do the disney dining deluxe plan. We are planning to stay at Pop Century and will eat most breakfast/lunch at the food court. Also, a princess meal is a must to cooincide w/ the boutique.

Breakfast
1. CRT
2. Chef mickey's

Lunch
Plaza/Pecos Bill

Dinner
1. Garden Grille
2. Boma
3. 1900 Park Fare
4. Ohana
5. Hoop de due revue
6. Capn Jacks

I am not sure about the last four so if any one can give me any opinions on other dining options i would appreciate it.

nebody if u could give me other resturants at disney or the resorts that may be good?

Have you checked out: allears.net dining? I found it helpful when I was making my choices. My kids really liked Coral Reef.

I did check it out but I wanted to get feedback on other places that weren't so run of the to me. I am torn between severel diferent places. Wanted to try Sanaa or Kouzzina but am not sure how child friendly they are. Not sure about hoop de due revue because of transportation. Does anyone know what resorts are near pop century?

If you want another princess meal besides CRT, I would check out Akershus. I think the nice thing about Akershus is that they have princesses at all 3 meals, whereas at CRT you don't get them at dinner.

I just ate at Boma and it was really good. I would go early so you have time to check out the lobby at AKL. There is a small observation deck off the lobby so you can see the animals.

I did not like Kouzzina. The food wasn't good, the service kind of sucked, and it was the loudest restaurant I've ever been in at Disney.

It's Disney, any restaurant is child friendly, except V & A's. I would not hesitate to take a child to Sanaa.

The closest resort to POP is CBR...but you couldn't get there directly if you don't have a car. You'd have to take the bus to a park, and then get on a different bus to get to CBR.

You mentioned doing the Deluxe Dining Plan, and also said you'd stay at POP and eat most breakfasts and lunches there. On the Deluxe plan you get 2 TS credits a day, so in order to use those, you would need to eat somewhere other than POP. They only have a counter service facility.

I would check out the menus on Allears.net and calculate out what you would likely spend on dining before buying the DxDDP. It's a LOT of food, so you may not save any money depending on what your eating habits are normally like. And if you want to have most lunches at counter service places, you may want to consider just doing the regular DDP and not the deluxe.

I was thinking about Akhersus for lunch one of our days. I decided to do the Deluxe plan because my daughter and I eat three meals a day and alot of the meals i want to eat at take two table seating meals. I have now decided that we will eat mostly one meal a day at Pop century because we will need to rest but all other meals should be table service. Thanks for the reviews for Kouzzinna. I looked at the menu and did not see much i would like but wanted to check other people's reviews also. I am thinking of doing a Crystal Palace breakfast, Cape May, and Akhersus breakfast. Still not sure.

I recently had breakfast at the Crystal Palace and Cape May. They were both really good. The Puffed French Toast at CP is delicious. It's like a French Toast donut!

One thing you need to keep in mind is that if you are using Disney transportation on the Deluxe Dining Plan, you are going to be spending a lot of time on busses and eating. So in addition to planning where you want to eat, you need to think about how you are going to get there. Example: Cape May is at the Beach Club, on the back side of Epcot. It's going to take you quite a bit of time, using Disney's bus system, to get there. I see that all of your dinners are at resorts. Do you plan to go back to your room for an afternoon break before dinner? You can't hop resort to resort, you have to go to a park and change busses. This will eat up a lot of time.

If I were you, I'd try to pick more restaurants that are in the parks rather than at resorts. Example: Tusker House character breakfast is pretty good and much easier to get to/from than Boma. Crystal Palace is inside MK and easier to get to than Cape May (and I think the food is better at CP anyway). Eating in the parks is going to give you a lot more time to spend in the parks. None of the places on your list are close to Pop Century and you are going to have to plan for a minimum 1 hour to get to these places and 1 hour to get back.

I speak from experience. We did the deluxe plan using disney busses and it was 1) way too much food, even using mostly 2TS dinners and 2) we felt like we spent all of our time either in a restuarant or riding a bus to get back/forth from the restaurant.

I was surprised this year - it was the first year on the dining plan and the first year doing character meals.

I thought we were going to be charged 2 TS for 1900 Park Fare and Akerhaus, but we were only charged one for each meal. At 1900 Park Fare, we sat next to a girl that was about five years old dressed to the nines as Cinderella, with her mother, aunt and grandmother, and she (and us) had a wonderful time. Lady Tremain especially doted on her and it was lovely watching their interaction.

We bought bagels and instant oatmeal for breakfast - we had the kitchenette at SSR, and then did the 1 Snack, 1 CS, and 1 TS dining plan and it was plenty for us. You may want to save a little money and get the lesser dining plan - for a four year old, that may be way too much food......

I have to add my 2 cents about Kouzzina - it was by far our favorite meal all week. We loved the service we got there, the host and server (Ben) fell all over us, and the food was by far the best of the week. I cannot wait to go back again.

First off..... You are going to have a FABULOUS TIME!

Second....... It's never too early to plan!!! That's half the fun!!!

Third ........ January is my favorite time to go!

AND THEN MY TWO CENTS:

Ohana is a MUST DO! And it's transportation friendly, being at the Poly. Just hop the resort monorail from the MK or Epcot and enjoy! Try to get a 630 reservation, enjoy your meal, trot on down to the beach at the Poly and enjoy "Wishes" from the beach!!!!! AMAZING!!!!

We HATED Hoop De Doo. Sorry, I know I will get flames for that. But Fried Chicken, Ribs, and Cornbread are pretty standard fare where I'm from. And it was just entirely too corny for me. AND it was a transportation NIGHTMARE. We didn't realize that you have to take a bust to FW and THEN get on another internal bus to get to wherever the theater is. Blech.

Another 2 thumbs up for the breakfast at Akershus! Princesses were fantastic and the food was divine!

Ask me February 1st when I get back from my upcoming trip and I will give you the lowdown on CRT Dinner! ;)

HAVE A BLAST!! :lovestruc

Thanks for the great advice. Last July when we went on Mya's Make A Wish Trip, we were not in the parks that much at all which gave us alot of free time. Albeit some of that was from Mya's special treatment but because we get there so early, there was almost no lines and we did everything within a couple of hours and were done for the day. So I figured this go round we would experience the whole dining experience. I was thinking of taking my sis and her kids since she drives because I am very worried about transportation issues.

We tried Ohana's last year and while i was not so thrilled about the food, Wishes was made the whole meal. I was considering making the breakfast this year but am still on the fence about it. Most likely we will not do Hoop de due revue.

I am planning that for my 3 year old dd to do. I am going to schedule her for BBB in the afternoon then make dinner ressies for 1900 park fare. I am not worried about seeing or doing everything this year as this will be in no means our last trip there. All your advice has got me thinking and I probably will make about 5000 changes before our trip. :rotfl:
