Hey everyone! So my upcoming vacation to WDW is quickly approaching. We will be at Disney from June 4-8. I have a problem. We have been to Teppan Edo many times and love it. However, we have never been to Ohana. On June 6 we are plannig on going to HS which has EMH and is therefore open until 10pm. We have ADRs for Mama Melrose for lunch and don't like/ couldn't agree on any of the other options at HS. Therefore, we were going to leave HS to have dinner. I really wanted to try Ohana due to all of the positive reviews but the only time I could get for our entire trip is for 5pm on the 6th. I was also able to get an ADR at Teppan Edo for 8:10pm on the 6th. I don't know which one to choose. Also for June 7th, we are planning on going to Epcot and currently have ADRs for Tutto Italia @ 7:35pm. Should we stick with this or try and get an ADR somewhere else in the WS? What would you suggest?!? Thanks for you help!
Debbie

I have heard directly from cast members of cleanliness issues in the kitchen of Tutto Italia...it is independently owned and she knew the owners (nice people but not a recommended dining experience). My Dad ate there prior to me hearing about that and said the food was not good at all...and he's Italian. If you can, do Teppan Edothat night instead.

If you are eating lunch at Mama melrose, I doubt you will be hungry for dinner at Ohana at 5pm unless you have a really light lunch. Can't help you with Tutto Italia as I've never tried it before.

Ohana is great---but I would suggest that you are very hungry when you go there. If you are planning on going back to HS after dinner Ohana has been known to keep you waiting well past your reservation time. Perhaps something at the Boardwalk? Shorter travel time--

If you have the time give Ohana a try, you will not be disappointed. They open at 5 so you will not wait more than a few minutes for your table. Be ready for a big meal so eat light at lunch.

If you have 8:10 ADR at Teppan Edo, that won't leave much time to go back for EMH at HS.

I know HS gets a bad rap for CS, but we've found Fairfax Fare to be pretty good and it's close to TOT and RnR. As the PP said, you probably aren't going to be very hungry after Melrose lunch, and Fairfax has combo plates you can share.

We love Ohanas, so I would just keep trying to get an ADR on a different day. You never know what will open up.

I don't think you will be disappointed with o'hanas. I would have to agree with earlier posts that you need to go hungry. It is a lot of food! I would grab something quick for lunch so that you are not taking so much time out of a park day by doing two table service restaurants in one day, especially when you figure in travel time from HS. I do love teppan edu but if you have had it several times, o'hanas would be worth a try.

Ohana for food and adr time. If you are planning to go back to EMH at DHS, I would not want to do that for Teppan Edo at 8 sound cutting lots of EMH time. Ohana should give you the break and energy you need for EMH. Enjoy and as other pp said, go hungry into it. They have lots of yummy food. ;)

Ohana's is one of our favorites and you should really try it out! If you have a 5:00 time, you will not wait long to sit. Be warned though, the check in line will be long (especially because they don't open until 5:00) so the sooner you get there to wait in line the faster you will get your table. I think the food is great and I agree with the other posts. Eat a lighter lunch so you can really enjoy it!

You can walk to the TTC monorail from there and head back to Epcot or take a bus to HS. Fun night really!

I don't think either are good for a HS day. Between travel time, dining, and waiting to be seated you're taking a big chunk out of your day. Between the 2 restaurants, I'd go with O'hana but on a different day.

I dont think anyone on this board read Debbie's statement carefully. She said they have ADRs for Mama Melrose but are thinking about scrapping that plan to have dinner outside of HS instead. From my understanding, Debbie isnt thinking about keeping Mama Melrose AND making a dinner ressie! Just wanted to clear that up. Lol! :D

I agree with the previous poster that neither Ohana and Teppan Edo are the best choices if your returning to HS. Thats a lot of travel time to be honest. I agree that Boardwalk is the best location from HS to have dinner...you can take a boat ride from HS to boardwalk i believe. Or you can walk! Its that close. ESPN is a good choice, so is Kouzzina. Look at the menu's on allears.net or on this site.

Ohana is an excellent restaurant and the food is great and there is ALOT so (depending upon how you read it) if you're having lunch at Mama Melrose you may want to change it to CS - and I agree Mama Melrose isn't that great.

However, if you do Ohana at 5pm you will need to leave DHS around 3:30pm just to be safe. And then it will be a stuffed belly rush back for late EMH. If you don't want to cut into your park time by going to Ohana, may I suggest Kouzzina at BW? We went there last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and service were excellent plus it's an easy boat ride from DHS. Just a thought...

But I do highly recommend Ohana...went there last year for the first time and loved it. We want to go again this year, but are unable to get an ADR. I called at my 180 day mark and couldn't get an ADR for any of the days we're there (unless I want to eat dinner with a 4yo after 9pm). I'm hoping something will open up -I keep checking online reservations.

I am very sorry about the lack of clarity in my original question and I appreciate all of your suggestions thus far. I had multiple questions. I simply made a lunch reservation at Mama Melrose solely since it was the only table service restaurant that the whole family could agree on. However, we are willing to go to a counter service ( I don't know where) but I was trying to find out if Mama Melrose was worth it. For the day after I had a reservation at Tutto Italia for dinner so I was willing to give up the ADR for Mama Melrose but wanted to know which one was better.

Now, separate question.

I have always wanted to try Ohana. However, the only time we were able to get an ADR was on our HS day @ 5pm. I will continue to try to get another time. That night HS is open until 7pm with EMH until 10pm. We plan on arriving at HS at opening and will stay until our dinner ADR. My hesitation about Ohana is how early it is and how early we will have to leave the park. The other restaurant that I wanted to eat at on this vacation was Teppan Edo. I was able to get an ADR @ 8:10pm which will allow us to stay there longer. I don't need to stay for EMH but I want to stay as long as we need to to complete the park(commando style). Finally, if you think I should go to the Ohana ADR, do you think I should go to Tutto Italia or Teppan Edo the following day? What would you do/ suggest? I am sorry for the confusion and the lack of clarify but I would truly appreciate your advice and suggestions. Thank you again!
Debbie

For leaving DHS, the best options are the EPCOT resorts. Captain's Grille is one of our favorites. Almost always easy to get a seat and the food has always been fresh and homecooking tasting. At dinner they have a 3 course one price menu that includes an app even if you are on the dining plan.

she read my mind!!

i love ohana, but that's a lot of travel. i would take the boat over to the yacht club, have an amazing dinner at captain's grille then take the boat back over. it is our favorite 1 TS meal and you won't be disappointed!!

If your final decision is Ohana I would keep the 5 PM reservation. Last trip we had that time and our wait was about 10 minutes. On prior visits we had later ADR's and waited 30 minutes or more to be seated. As for travel time I do agree that the Epcot resorts are a better option (that is if anything appeals to you) You could get lucky and the Poly bus will be waiting for you right when you leave HS, but if not....

If you have a chance to eat at Teppan Edo i would take it. ITS DELICIOUS! They had far better steak than at Le Cellier if you can believe that! Its one of my fave places to eat at disney! :thumbsup2
