Ok I booked a trip for just DH and I for 4 days/3 nights with free TS dining. I went to book ADR's and there werent very many left...I know its my fault BUT I had a few questions: is Sci-Fi a good restuarant to eat in? I also booked Hollywood and Vine for dinner that night and Chef Mickey for breakfast the day we leave..... are these good choices? I have only ever eaten at Chef Mickeys for dinner....any help with these would be wonderful!

Sci Fi is fun and cute, you sit in little cars as if you are at the drive in. I think the food is decent, though this restaurant is about the atmosphere, not the food. Chef Mickeys is great for breakfast or dinner, and Hollywood & Vine is a buffet, and the food is pretty good.

I have only eaten at Sci-Fi for lunch but it was ok. Wasn't the best I have had in WDW, but it wasn't bad.
I wouldn't worry to much about this one. Especially if you like burgers. DH loved it. Not sure if it is on the menu for dinner, but I think you can still get it if it isn't.

Chef Mickey's I have had for dinner and love it. Wouldn't hesitate to do breakfast there.

Have a good trip.

Hi. You have 3 TS credits to use, over 3 nights, but you've booked 2 meals at DHS on the same day? I would definitely cancel Hollywood and Vine. Everytime we've had dinner there it's been awful. There are much better uses of your credits...have you looked at any of the resort restaurants? Or Epcot?

Sci Fi is wonderful!!!! I love the atmosphere. So much fun. I had their ribs and thought it was delish. Not fatty at all. very tasty. The burgers are also terrific. I cant wait to go back!

Chef Mickeys breakfast isnt spectacular in terms of food to be honest...I didnt think the selection or quality of food is very good. But there are some good items there. The characters truly are wonderful thou. Its a lot of fun.

Sorry I havent been to H&V so i cant comment.

Sci-Fi has one of the best and more unique themes of all the Disney restaurants. We are not fond of the food there but the atmosphere alone is worth checking out at least once.

Chef Mickey's breakfast on our last morning is my girlfriends biggest request. The food is pretty standard breakfast food and although it can get a little crazy there, it's a nice way to end the trip.

H&V... Just skip it. Your better off trying to get an ADR to 50's PTC or Cape May (at the BC) if you don't mind leaving DHS for dinner (you can always return if you want) or you can use the TS credit another day at a different park or at a resort.

I've had breakfast at Chef Mickey's....we LOVE it....standard breakfast food on a buffet, but you also get a picture take (you can purchase if you want to) and you get to see the fave five...it's fun too

Haven't tried the other two. Have a wonderful time.

Thanks! I did book Coral reef at Epcot but the only ressie was at 820 at night! I booked 2 in the same day only because our Sunday park day is up in the air...I scheduled Epcot but if DH wants to do Ak or MK, we could go. I am not sure wich ones to take out. How much are tips when its just 2 of u? I did a big trip last year and our tip after each meal was about $20.

Like pp's have mentioned, the Sci-fi is OK..food does let it down, luckilly its a bit dark to notice what you are eating:) But its worth going to as it is a fun place to eat, but also like a pp said if there are any other choices I would go there instead. Chef Mickey is great and we have never had a bad dinner at Hollywood and Vine. I suppose its just luck of the draw, ie, who is the chef that night, the dishes you choose, what your expectations are etc. Where one person has had a bad experience you may have a good one..just go with what you think will fit in with the time you have. :thumbsup2

I love the atmosphere in Sci Fi, the burger, the ribs, the rueben are great

We like Chef Mickeys, despite the bad rap it gets, food is good and character interaction even better

We tried H&V back in 2005 and it was horrible BUT there has been good reviews as of late so I believe it has improved!

I'm going to be the voice of dissent.

Sci Fi has a great atmosphere, but the food was terrible and the service was also. In addition, I thought it was uncomfortable to have people seated right behind me in the car that I didn't know.

I didn't just dislike Chef Mickey's for dinner, it was so bad it OFFENDED me. Everything about it was offensive. The food, our table, the character interaction: AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! And I don't care what anyone says, those mashed potatoes come from a box and were rehydrated.

I've never been to H&V. Can't say anything about that one, other than if I was serious about wanting to be first in line for TSMM I would book the 1st reservation of the morning and eat very lightly and quickly.

This is just a thought, and you can yell at me if I'm being ridiculous...

Have you considered upgrading to Deluxe Dining? Since it will be just you and DH, this might be the perfect time for you to try out some of the signature restaurants (most of which still have availablilty during FD). With DxDP you can sample California Grill, Flying Fish, Narcoossee's, Artist Point or even try HDDR. You could dine at a signature restaurant each night and STILL have an extra TS credit per day for a character breakfast or a nice TS lunch if you choose. And since there's only 2 of you for a relatively short trip, it wouldn't be THAT expensive to upgrade.

Have a wonderful trip with DH, no matter where you decide to dine.
