ADR for two people

At WDW, since they added the option to book a party of 1 I have done so, and was often placed at a 4 top, so I'm thinking the updated system will book a two top or 4 top simply based upon availability. Being able to book for one was a welcome change,, as I take about 50% of my trips alone.

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.

By the way, what is a Super Moderator?

CarolMN and I have the designation. All it does is it gives us access a little deeper into the Boards and the server so we can do what we need to do with the Rent/Transfer board.

We have traveled without kids (they're grown now) for over 10 years and never had an issue getting an ADR for 2 as long as we booked our ADR's early.

Have you gone recently?
I've been booking for our upcoming trip this past week and still have issues getting all of the times to show when looking for a party of 2. More times show up when I change it to 4 and I have had no problem modifying it down to 2 while keeping the original booking time. FWIW, I've only booked Disney Springs and resort restaurants, none in the parks.

That's interesting. Are you trying to book at popular times (ie. breakfast in early morning)?

I'm 60 days out and, so far, have not had a problem getting times in the parks for 2 people. I'm on the west coast so the biggest difficulty I've had is waking up at 3 am to make the reservation. :faint:

The system just let me book a test reservation for 4 on March 19 at 4:05 at Homecomin’ then modify it to 2 for the same time. There were no ADRs for 2 available before 9 pm.
Homecomin" reservations are more difficult to make as they hold many tables for walk-up availability. It is a usually enjoyable meal.

That's the great thing about this hobby, always learning something. I've done this several times now and it never dawned on me the difficulties of a 2 vs 4 reservation. When I get to my next window I'll have to play with that.

With that said I've only struck out twice in getting days/times I want for 2. One I was able to do a walk up for the time I wanted to go for and the other we just lived with a later time and made it work.

As someone currently living on the west coast as well I feel the pain for 3am. I tend to setup my personal desk the night before with everything planned out on my working spreadsheet already open and get through it in about 20 minutes to go back to bed for another 2 hours.

Nothing high demand, except maybe Narcoossee's, not early AM or even for fireworks viewing. Just specific dinner times to maximize sunset. I have no problems finding availability for 4 and editing down to 2 to keep the time slot, but was only able to initially book the time slot for 2 once out of 10 ADRs so far this trip. I've had this issues for years and years.

We were there in October. Had ADRs at CG, Jiko, Flying Fish, Monsieur Paul, Toledo, toppolinos, Brown Derby, There were 4 of us at Toledo, but only 2 for the others.

That's interesting. Looking through the Feb & March Happy Dance groups, it seems like people are having an easier time booking reservations. I'm booking for April right now and, so far, haven't had a difficult time booking for two. I don't know if it is because I'm pretty flexible with timing or because I'm not looking for things like character meals.

Edit to add. I haven't had a difficult time booking for two inside the parks. If I'm trying to book at Disney Springs or at a resort, the times I get with 2 are more limited than 4. However, when I book for four and immediately modify for two, I am offered more times for two than what was initially offered.
