Well, if she's doing it at Le Cellier, she may not get away with it. Those CM's there are crazy about ADR's.
Your friend may be out of luck here - if she gets a CM similar to the ones we got, they would have no problem refusing to seat her. I wouldn't worry about it; clearly the CM's have no problem refusing entry to Le Cellier. They will probably seat her if it's a slow night, and in that case, she would have been seated without the ressies anyway.
Cheers!

As busy as the free dining period is, I doubt very seriously if she gets by with it. When we came back from our trip last Sept I posted about two incidences we saw the night we went to Le Cellier. Even with ADRs there was like 45-60 minute waits. One family insisted they had ADRs, but the CM standing outside with her clipboard wouldn't budge when she couldn't find them on her list. They insisted a manager be called, but they were still turned away. Also a family of four showed up with another family of three. The CM said their ADR was for only four people and turned the three away. Funny thing is though that the family of four stayed while the family of three walked away without giving that much of an argument. I guess the CMs are used to all kinds of excuses.

FYI: When my ex decided to go with us this Sept I had to call to add him to our ADRs. The CM had to cancel all of our old ADRs for two people and change them to three people (because we were going from a two table topper to a four table topper). She was able to change everything except, for of all places, Whispering Canyon. She told us to go ahead and try to show up with the extra person if we had to, but to keep trying to change it to three. Anyway I kept calling and every other CM has made a point of telling me we better not try to show with enough people to change whatever size table your original ADR is for, because they would turn you away, especially as crowded as the free dining period is going to be. I tried for about six weeks to get Whispering Canyon changed to three people but have not been able to do so, so earlier this week I cancelled it and switched to Spoodles. I've got a feeling your friend may wind up eating CS that night, because as hmp2z says Le Cellier is especially rabid about their ADRs and have no problem turning someone away.

My BF, who I am going with this December, is a WDW newbie. I was having trouble getting ADRs for Chef Mickeys early enough for us to make it to the parksat opeing. I was told by the CM on the phone that they had availablility for larger parties but not parties of two. He suggested I make an ADR for a party of 3 earlier and then just say they were sick and couldn't come! I was appalled. I don't think he realized how unethical that would be, but I refused and made sure he knew what a problem we would *potentially* cause for other patrons and the CMs!

We had a mistake happen at LeCellier. They had us down for 2 and it was supposed to be 4. It wasn't a problem and they happily seated all 4 of us. I doubt your friend will have any problems because the CMs cannot dispute what she says. When calling WDW there are so many mistakes made by CMs that it would be hard to argue otherwise. Your friend is wrong in lying but will get away with it.

If it were me I think I'd have to call Disney dining & rat them out! Not that I expect they'd do anything about it but it would be sweet to have them standing at the podium & proceed to blame someone else & have the CM say, "Yeah, we have a note here saying that's exactly what you were going to say"

I understand you saying it's not a friendship ruining thing but I wouldn't forget that this friend has no problems being a liar.

She told me to do it for my up coming trip, I out right refused to do it. It just doesn't seem right

It does not seem right because it isn't right, pure and simple.

That being said, here's a story: many years ago, we were staying YC concierge and the concierge made all our ADRs (called PSs then, of course). Upon check in, they gave me a list of the ADRs, which included a listing for breakfast at Cinderella's Castle for the next morning. So next day, we go to the castle, only to find out that they have no record of an ADR for us. I am certain this cannot be right and tell them I have a list of ADRs made by the YC concierge and it is on there. However, I had forgotten to bring the list with me. Cast members at podium are able to see all my other ADRs on the computer, but not the one for breakfast that morning. I continued to insist, however, and ultimately they were able to fit us in without much wait. Later, I returned to the room, looked at my list of ADRs and, to my surprise, I saw that the notation after the ADR for the castle breakfast was something to the effect that "no space available; concierge to call back on X date." In other words, I did not have the ADR I thought I did after all, but the cast members accomodated me due to my (mistaken) insistence that I did.

Thus, if your friend does what you described, it will (sadly) probably work.

The bigger question is, what are you going to do with the unethical BF?

No flames please....

So is it totally unethical to make an ADR for one more person than what will be in your party? I've tried for over a month (by calling each and every single day) to get a table at Boma for dinner during our stay (2 people). NOTHING whatsoever. After reading a suggestion here on the DIS, I called and inquired about availability for 3 at Boma and they got me in, not a minute after I called to question availability for 2 people.

Wrong or not, I'd like to dine at the deluxe resort I'm paying to stay at and if adding 1 person to my ressie gets me in, I'm doing it. And for the record, I will be paying OOP for the meal.

I plan to continue to call daily until our trip (5 weeks yet) and if I can get an ADR for 2 I will certainly cancel the ADR I made for 3 people.

:confused3 What the heck is that supposed to mean??? :confused3

I've never been to a Six Flags Park, but I'd be willing to bet not everyone there is "morally corrupt".

Anyone that lives near a Six Flags park can see the humor in this, I about fell out of my chair laughing!! :rotfl:

I agree. It was a joke, and a good one.

Yeap ... it's getting there .... pass the popcorn, please! :teeth:

What country do you folks live in? Our President lied to get us into a war, how could you possibly be surprised that people would lie to get a dinner reservation??? ... Besides, this is just another downside to the DDP and 180 day reservations.

Her ploy will work, btw.

We were at Le Cellier last Tuesday evening. Our ADR was for 6:25, we arrived at 6:10 and the CM REFUSED to checked us in until 6:15 because she said they were too busy to check us in until 10 minutes before our ADR??? We actually had to sit and wait right in front of her to check in 5 minutes later?? It was very strange. But the meal was great and our server was wonderful!!

Thanks - it really was meant just as a joke - sorry it offended some people. I personally thought it was hilarious.

this thread is going way down the toilet, now that somehow
politics have been thrown in.
:rolleyes1

I wrote what I was thinking but it didn't make sense with what AKLRULZ posted.... So :thumbsup2

Ahhh, I'm afraid of getting flamed here.

It just makes me sad what people will do. I understand that everyone wants a magical experience at Disney but it's harmful to see how their lying and cheating and scamming ruins hundreds of other guests' experiences. For one thing, it teaches people that this is what you should do if you can't get a ressie- lie about the # in your party. When children see that this works, they will use it when they grow up. As a young adult, it scares me to think of what Disney will be like 20 years from now. Restaurants packed, people lying here and there. Does that mean that people will book one magic your way ticket and then tell Disney that they paid for three others and Disney made a mistake? Of course this won't work b/c they won't have a receipt, but at the same time it wastes the CMs time fixing this glitch when they could be assisting others.

Oh boy.... sometimes it's hard to see the good in people at Disney.
