ADR - Big FYI

I am a TA and based on this thread....called for a couple of my clients yesterday afternoon. I got a great, friendly CM and we chatted. Then he told me that I was calling too soon (I already knew this of course) and that the day I could book for them is 5/29 - which is 90 days.

I might try again today if other TA's are having success, but just so you know - it is not everyone.

It is only the online booking tool that is allowing it. Call center CMs are correctly applying the 90+10 rule, but the online ADR system seems to be "reading" that rule as 100 out for onsite guests.

You would really cancel your whole trip based on dining or lack there of???

To some folks your dining experience is a big part of the vacation. Sure you can eat counter service your entire trip, but most people can get "counter service" type food while at home. When some people go on vacation they want to eat better than they do at home.

Not trying to insult anyone who prefers/likes counter service, I'm simply playing Devil's advocate.

It may not be a mistake. That may just be the way the on line system is set up. For the call-in system a 100-days-out rule isn't workable, because you'd be calling a CM every day to make just one more ADR. That would take a lot more of their time and yours. But making one ADR each day yourself on line should be easy.

Yep. Dining is a big part of our vacation experience. We spend about 340 days a year at home in our small town, where the best restaurants within 20 miles are the coney island and the corner pub. For those 3 weeks or so that we're traveling, I want to eat well. Disney accounts for almost half of the time we spend away from home these days, and I want to have a good variety of ADRs for our trips. I wouldn't cancel a trip for lack of Le Cellier or any other specific restaurant, but overall dining availability has played into my decision not to book short-notice trips or change dates.

Case in point - I received a PIN code about a week ago for 40% off through my birthday month (May). I priced a package for next week, and the price was good enough that I thought about cancelling Sept and going now instead. But before I made any changes, I called to check dining availability. No California Grill, no Narcoosees, no Kona or Ohana, no Tutto Italia or Teppan Edo, and of course, no Chef Mickey, Akershus, or CRT. So we're still booked for Sept and I'll be spending my birthday weekend at a local resort known in part for their wonderful food. Being at Disney for my birthday isn't worth not having any character meals for our youngest's first trip, and certainly it isn't worth eating counter service all week.

I like your idea of an "un-birthday" instead......... I don't think you are alone in your thinking. I think many of us feel the same way. I wouldn't cancel or NOT GO based on one restaurant, but would think long and hard about an impromptu trip after my booking window had opened......

My aunt is a TA, and from what I was told, there was a slight glitch in the system. While some of my ADRs were made a few days early, the later dates were not made. I have to wait it out just like everyone else. From what I hear, the system is working again and everyone will be treated the same for ADRs. I did not book any of the "hot spots" so I did not get an advantage over anyone else.

I can see the importance of booking at your 90-day mark. I hope everyone is able to get (most) of what they want!

:)
