ADR at "the second worst restaurant at WDW"

Restaurant reviews are incredibly subjective.

I'm from New York and (while I haven't dined at Via Napoli) I hate most Italian food at Disney (except Il Mulino.) I loved the lobster rolls from Boardwalk Bakery, but someone from New England may be offended by them. I love the biscuits and gravy at breakfast buffets, but a true southerner would scoff at them.

We booked Artist Point for Christmas last year. It was our first time dining anywhere but Narcoossee's, so we were nervous. A month before Christmas, a popular Disney blog releases a less-than-stellar review about Artist Point. Many of the comments on the blog agreed. It called into question the service and while it didn't say the food was bad, it didn't say it was good, either. I was flustered, but we kept the reservation. Artist Point was the highlight of our trip and our favorite meal. The service was stellar, and the food (much of the same items called out on the blog) ranked among our favorite meals in Disney.

We're looking to dine at Yak & Yeti our next trip at Disney. Some video won't make us cancel it.

At the end of the day, there's no BAD food at Disney. I can think of one or two restaurants we'll never step foot in again, but that seems to the consensus among DISers. Those dessert wontons are worth the risk...

The reviews in this thread make me want to try it on our next trip!
I was just thinking that!!

San Angel - that had been on our must-do list every trip... until last year. Definitely worth a try for the atmosphere, but we'll be booking Hacienda next year.

We love Yak & Yeti and have ADRs there on almost every visit. Their Kobe Beef Burger is SO good! My daughter always orders their Crispy Honey Chicken and she loves it - I've tried it too and it's fabulous. Then there's my super-picky hubs who is in love with their Lo Mein. He usually gets the chicken one, but sometimes goes with the combo. We've tried a few other things over the years too, but these are our favorites. It's kind of pricey, but so is everything else at WDW!

We love the atmosphere too - it always feels so cool in there!

I would try it anyway! We avoided San Angel for several trips because of reviews and for the last 3 trips it has been our Favorite TS and my Family request it.
Only caution I would give about Y&Y is--we ate there last trip (it was very good) but the Servers changed in the middle of our meal--we had one server and then a different one at the end:
well, both servers charged our DDP (double charged) and took our credits, so when we went to eat the next night we were missing 3 TS credits.
Next night: We ate at Kona Cafe' and the Manager was nice enough to get all of the credit issues resolved for us. But this could happen as any of the TS restaurants.

My takeaway from the video is that you're paying $30 for food of similar quality that you buy at home for $10. I think that's a fair argument.

That's a reality when it comes to Theme parks food including Disney, they are overpriced when it comes to eating there.

This was a really bizarre list to me. Totally not the places I would have expected. This is why you can't go by one persons review. To each their own I suppose!

My take is the cheaper entrees are the better ones more like what you would expect.... Nothing great if you have good Chinese food in you area but nothing bad either... Last year i ordered a shrimp dish and it really was not that good and way overpriced... It is owned by a chain nothing is cooked from raw.... so choose based on that and you will enjoy it.
It is very overpriced for what it is even based on Disney prices reason for bad review... ie a Disney fresh cooked ?? is going to be better than a frozen part pre cooked ?? from Yak and Yeti... BUT Yak and Yeti is a completely different taste from what you have been eating all week.
People ding every place... think of where you are and what the place should serve and you will be fine.... reminds me of the person who goes to IHOP and orders chicken Parm. and walks away ranting on how bad it is... and you expected???

Loooove yak And yeti! We choose Tusker House instead because We had Tokyo Dining but i missed My yak And yeti lunch (take the wonton dessert!)

We ate at Yak & Yeti for lunch a few years ago on a whim (we asked if they could seat us, they could, we went right in). In our experience, it was fine - the service was attentive and the food was decent-to-good. We haven't rushed to go back, as we can get good Chinese food close to home and don't really think to eat it on vacation. But I would absolutely go back again if the mood struck me.

I think most of the in-park restaurants we've tried are perhaps best described as mediocre - if you go in expecting to be WOWed, you might be disappointed, but it's decent food with typically good service, a great way to take a load off and rest tired Disney feet, and especially in the warmer months, the a/c is most welcome! If you're lucky, you might find a dish you absolutely love - something that hits just at the intersection of the flavors they provide and the tastes you enjoy. But if you go in expecting a serviceable meal and a chance to sit down(!!!) for a bit, you probably won't be disappointed. (Except in Tony's. That ranks as our worst Disney meal ever. Though obviously there, too, YMMV.) You can find good reviews and bad reviews of every single restaurant on the planet. Even chefs with Michelin stars get panned on TripAdvisor sometimes, right?

So basically, I say if you WANT to try it, go with an open mind and give it a try. Enjoy. :)

Oh! And I've only ever had breakfast at Captain's Grill and it was fabulous! I had their bagel with lox and thought they did a pretty decent job on it. ;)

In my recent Disboards research, I've read many great reviews on Yak & Yeti.

I also learned about Landry's Select Club, and I joined. I've eaten at many Landry's restaurants and never had a bad meal at any of them. It might not be the best food I've ever had in my life, but they are always a happy restaurant experience. Planning to use my $25 Select Club welcome gift at Y&Y and my $25 birthday gift at the Rainforest Cafe. I have full faith that both Landry's locations will be fine.

We have good food and great service at Yak and Yeti. Try it once and don't go back if it is not your thing!

Thanks again all. I appreciate all the responses.

I think it is a little more upper scale than typical chinese takeout and probably more like a PF Chang, which is a little closer in price. I live in a high cost of living area and the local "pan asian" restaurant is only a few $$ less for the chinese style entrees, but once you buy the rice separately it is pretty close. The restaurant's food is decent (depends what you order) and way overpriced compared to the greasy spoon chinese takeouts I grew up with in brooklyn but it is beautiful with great ambiance and in a prime location and some of that is what you are paying for.

You could say the same of pretty much any disney restaurant... you are paying for location, theming and ambiance and not just the food. Once you subtract for that stuff I don't think the prices are any more inflated there than any other WDW restaurant on property. I don't know anywhere else in the world where you can spend $48 on a pizza, even a "half meter" one, but Disney's got it. $72 for a lobster at Narcoossees? $50+ for a filet that would cost half that at the outback? seems weird to single out this one place out of the entire WDW property.

We had lunch there the last 3 trips and plan to go back next time. IMO a lot of TS are better at lunch than dinner . We have always enjoyed Mama Melrose at lunch (gone almost every trip)but our 2 dinners were subpar. MM will remain on the lunch list but no more dinners for a while.

If you like PF Chang's, you'll probably like Yak and Yeti, the food is very similar.
