ADR and FP+. Why so far out?

OK, so let's forget ADR's for a minute. What about FP+? Why not 7 days in advance instead of 60?

It makes sense that if your going to pre-pick adrs that it be spaced far enough from paying off your vacation at 30/45 days before arrival. Also international travelers, which I see a lot of at WDW, generally don't just go to disney and it's just 1 destination on their american holiday trip.

In my opinion, anything pre-picked is going to be just as horrible even if it was 1 day in advance. The system really doesn't work as intended in my opinion so it's probably spaced based on when full payment is due + enough extra time so it seems better to book your room with a disney resort and not stay offsite. Now if the intention is to drive sales to their resorts, it's probably a big win for disney.

As most everyone knows, ADR's are booked at 180 days and FP's at 60 for onsite and 30 for offsite. Does it really make sense for Disney to book these THIS far out? Wouldn't having ADR's at 90 days and FP's at 30/15 have the same effect? What about 30 and 20/10?

I think ADRs would be much harder to get at 90 days than 180 because more people would be clamoring to get them. Yes, there are the same number of seats 90 days out, but more people know 90 days out that they are going to WDW than at 180 days. (I talked to a friend yesterday who is "thinking about maybe" going to Disney in the spring. At this rate, she won't be ready at 180 days.). More people fighting over the same spots, and more overload on the reservation system.

Yes. This is exactly what I was saying in post #7.
