Hi,
We adopted our daughter from China and we don't have a US passport or birth certificate yet. Everything is still from China. It is easy to see her date of birth but it is not a US document.

Will we have trouble getting the gift card for her birthday?
Thanks for your help
Jen

I don't know the answer to your question, but I just wanted to say hi! My husband and I are in the process of adopting from China. Our LID is 4/15/07...

I don't know about the gift card.

But Congratulations on the new family member!:hippie:

Hi,
Thank you!! She joined us five years ago and I have been slacker about the US passport! She will turn 6 while we are in Disney and it's a surprise!! I can't wait!

Scarlett- yippee!!! I love talking with waiting parents! It has been the best experience and she is just wonderful. I am in shock how long the wait has been for all of you. I hope the rumors of a speed up do happen and fast!

Thanks!
Jen

Why don't you register her birthday on the Disney website, bring the documentation you have and ask!

They can't Hit Ya!

When I first saw the title of your post, I thought it ment that IF you adopt a child from another country you get a Disney Gift card!! Silly me!:hippie:

I did register her birthday so I guess we will see. When they see her cute face, they will give it to her!
:goodvibes

Hi Jen,
I'm an adoptive parent to two girls from China!

When is your trip? You may have time to get her passport before you go - always a good idea anyway! I hate using my daughters' Chinese paperwork for anything in the US because some of the information is private. I also got US birth certificates for both my kids which was relatively easy and inexpensive in my state. And they never expire! You may want to look into that too, not so much for your Disney trip but just to have.

Have a great trip!

Hi Kristen,
I know, I have the paperwork but we leave in 20 days so I don't think I will have it by then. Where does the time go!

I live in Derry! Small world!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only slacker! My boys have been home from Russia for 3 1/2 years, and I'm still walking around with their Russian passports. No one has given me grief yet about their Russian birth certificates, so I just haven't had the incentive to transfer everything over yet...

I also have 2 girls adopted from China!! It's such a wonderful experience, isn't it? I know my 3 girls are all blessings to me :)

If you have time before you travel you could try to get her US birth certificate, but if not perhaps a copy of her Chinese one will do. I'm willing to guess if you explain the circumstances it will be OK--besides, her DOB is on there anyway.

Oh, and I'm from Central Mass so not too far from you either :)

I'm sure either her Chinese bc or passport would do. They take information from all around the world.

I have a son and daughter from China! (and a daughter from Russia) It is a wonderful experience. Good luck to the waiting families!

I didn't think you had to be a US citizen for the gift card. I thought it was offered to everyone around the world. Naturally we don't have US documents but were hoping for the giftcard for our dd next Tuesday.
